00:17If it ain't Rude, it ain't right.
00:20I want to ask you this question first, though.
00:22Yeah.
00:24There's a new burgundy uniform.
00:25They're now going full-time with the white uniforms.
00:27There's a new black Hellraiser uniform.
00:31New refurbished helmets.
00:33What's your favorite thing?
00:34What's your favorite part?
00:36Favorite part of what?
00:37All of the changes.
00:39What's the GOAT?
00:41GOATS.
00:42GOATS edition.
00:43I think getting the stripes back on the helmet,
00:45make the more traditional look,
00:47and then bringing the whole burgundy and gold look into the black ones
00:50now make me like the black ones.
00:52You know I had a problem with the black jerseys at first.
00:57I think that is, you know.
00:59It looks like it's supposed to.
01:05It does.
01:06I think that's well said.
01:07Let's hit these phone lines.
01:10Rodney in South Carolina.
01:12What's up, Rodney?
01:13Hey, good afternoon, fellas.
01:15How are y'all doing now?
01:16Good, man.
01:17Hey, I just want to say today is a very happy day.
01:23I know 2-22-22 was good and bad.
01:27It was terrible with the name change and those ugly uniforms,
01:31but it was a happy day for me because that was actually the day I got my
01:34emancipation papers and my divorce was finalized.
01:38I got that all out of the way.
01:40So it worked out for you that day, I see.
01:42It worked out perfectly for me on that day.
01:45Now, I love the new uniforms right now.
01:47I love the fact that I got the blockers back, which is good.
01:51I love the traditional colors as well as the Hellraiser colors.
01:58And I'm with you, B, Mitch, on that.
01:59I didn't really care for the black uniform, but I like it now.
02:03And I love the spear.
02:04That's an additional plus, plus, plus.
02:07All right, brother.
02:08Appreciate the call, dude.
02:09Appreciate your call.
02:09See you, Rodney.
02:10Thanks, guys.
02:11See you.
02:11Rodney called his divorce emancipation day.
02:15Let's go to Mike G in Roanoke.
02:20Mike, what's up, buddy?
02:21Hey, brother.
02:22Thank you for taking my call, first of all.
02:25Thanks, man.
02:26I'm 73 years old.
02:28I go way back.
02:30And I have to say my favorite part is the spear.
02:35It reminds me of Sonny Jurgensen with that beer belly,
02:39slinging touchdowns with that spear on his helmet.
02:43Love that, man.
02:44Good call, man.
02:45Dude, so for me, thank you for the call, Mike G.
02:48Appreciate you, buddy.
02:49Didn't make sound a little bit like Coach Gibbs?
02:51A little bit.
02:53I think, obviously, Sonny wearing the spear.
02:57But I remember when they brought the spear back.
02:59Was that like Jason Campbell wearing that?
03:02Was that that era?
03:03Maybe it was the 75th anniversary?
03:06Early on in the days there.
03:072003?
03:09Who was the quarterback?
03:11No, you said Daryl Green was still on the team.
03:13Yeah, Daryl Green was on the team.
03:14Maybe like Patrick Ramsey?
03:15Yeah, that's right.
03:16Okay.
03:17Yeah.
03:19Those were super dope.
03:21Was that the 75th anniversary of the team?
03:25I think it's Mark Brunel.
03:28I think I'm seeing a...
03:29No.
03:30That might be Danny Warfel I'm seeing.
03:33Who wore number six?
03:35Sage Rosenfeld?
03:37Sixth?
03:38Oh, I remember number six.
03:40See if we can find a picture of that.
03:42I'll keep the phone lines going.
03:44Brian is in Chicago.
03:45What's up, Brian?
03:47Hey, guys.
03:48Thanks for taking my call.
03:49I appreciate you.
03:49Cool, man.
03:50You know, there's a lot to love with using uniforms, man.
03:53It's so good to see, like, actual burgundy on the burgundy uniforms.
03:58I love that they're keeping the gold pants as an option.
04:02I got to say, though, I think my favorite thing is, you know, I think just looking at
04:06the new logo with the spear, I think maybe my eye gets a little confused in the middle
04:11of it.
04:12But that front-facing view with the points facing directly ahead is so much better than
04:17that wimpy little W that used to be on those black uniforms.
04:20Yeah, it just made no sense.
04:22It made no sense.
04:23So it looks tough.
04:25It looks good.
04:26Super excited that they don't look like the alternate uniform for the Steelers anymore.
04:31So they actually look like our team.
04:34And I got to say, you know, it's also nice to not see the commanders, though, go anywhere
04:38on it.
04:39We can all kind of just like, okay, that's the name.
04:42That's going to be the name.
04:43But we don't have to, you know, highlight it as much.
04:45So thanks for taking my call, guys.
04:48What B said is the old, the Skins uniforms, like the old uniforms that these are trying
04:53to emulate, didn't say anything.
04:55I think in later years, maybe it said Redskins across like the chest plate, like right below
05:00the NFL shield.
05:01I think like kind of the London Fletcher years.
05:04Like at some point, it said Redskins in the font right there.
05:07But I think, as you and Doc Walker have said, the burgundy and gold.
05:11The ones I have in my house didn't say nothing like that.
05:13Yeah, I'll look that up.
05:17But I remember in like the mid-2000s, they did introduce that at some point.
05:24Like here, this is the picture I was thinking of.
05:26You see that picture of Fletch?
05:28Yeah.
05:28You see how it says Redskins across the front right there?
05:30But for a long time, that didn't exist.
05:34Let's go to Juan is in Fairfax.
05:36Juan, what's up, dude?
05:39What's up, guys?
05:40How you doing, baby?
05:40How you doing, Philly?
05:41We're good, buddy.
05:42We're good.
05:44Hey, man, them black jerseys of fire, man.
05:46I'm trying to tell you.
05:48I'm trying to think of what I should not wear with him now.
05:50I'm trying to think of the outfit and everything.
05:52The shoes I can go with it.
05:53The pants I can go with it.
05:55I'm thinking of everything.
05:56And another thing, this is just a buildup, man.
05:59I'm trying to tell you.
06:00And when we win a Super Bowl, it's going to shut down D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
06:07Nobody's going to be able to get in or out.
06:10But I'm going to tell you, this is just a buildup, and this is going to overthrow when
06:15everything just gets done and said and said and done.
06:19But these jerseys are straight fire.
06:21I like it.
06:22And I like the black one as well, like I said.
06:31All right, brother.
06:36Yeah, if you got called in, that was about to cry, if they don't take Jeremiah Love.
06:39Yes, we need that energy every time someone gets on the phone.
06:43Jeff, what's your favorite part?
06:45Yo, mine got to be the black jerseys.
06:48As someone who is like a person that can rarely keep a shirt clean when they go to like a
06:54stadium
06:54function or anything, that black is amazing.
06:57And the number is red.
06:59I mean, burgundy.
07:00So, like, if I spill something there, it comes right off.
07:03That's the best.
07:04You don't care that the jerseys look good.
07:05They just, I love the jerseys.
07:07I'm clumsy.
07:07I need something to help me out.
07:09I love the jerseys.
07:10It reminds me, I had Ainsley, I had to get her dressed this morning just to go to school,
07:16and she spilled orange juice on her shirt.
07:18And that just reminded me of Jeff.
07:19My seven-year-old spilled a little orange juice and was upset.
07:22Jeff, I don't know why.
07:24He just told me seven.
07:24I got a hole in my mouth.
07:26I don't know why.
07:27It just, stuff just falls.
07:29Everybody got a hole in their mouth.
07:31Let's go to Ian in Maine.
07:33You got an extra hole in your mouth.
07:35Ian, what's your favorite part, bro?
07:38Hey, y'all.
07:38Thanks a lot for taking my call.
07:40I got to say, I think it's just the overall attention to detail that they put into this
07:44thing.
07:44You know, and I got to say, seeing the trio of stripes on the correct burgundy gloss
07:51helmet is just makes my heart feel good.
07:55You know, they went back and they had the stripes on the mat, kind of cranberry last year.
08:01And just seeing this, the proper color, it's just really, just really makes my heart feel
08:06good.
08:06And I got to say, you know, there's a lot of, I think that the uniform and logo can be
08:11like
08:12different things sometimes.
08:13And I got to, I got to think that by the time we're, we're in the new RFK and Jaden's
08:19thrown
08:19for 5,000 yards in that new stadium, there's going to be something a little different than
08:23the block W hanging from the rafters.
08:25Well, and the block W could be part of it, but I go back to, if you missed any of
08:31our interview
08:31with Mark Klaus from this morning, you should get on YouTube or on Spotify or on the Odyssey
08:36app and make sure you listen to it.
08:38Klaus said repeatedly, Commander's Team President Mark Klaus said, we are on a journey.
08:42We're going to continue to think about how we bring more elements of our heritage.
08:46So I, I, I think this is a step on the journey.
08:50I very much think when this team is playing at RFK, there could be another step taken,
08:55especially to the helmet.
08:56Thanks for the call, Ian.
08:57Appreciate it.
08:58Yeah.
09:00Um, about DC in Southeast.
09:05Hello, DC.
09:07What's going on, fellas?
09:09How y'all doing?
09:09Good, dude.
09:10How are you?
09:12I've been calling for the last two weeks, trying to get this point across.
09:17Now, Jeff, you from DC, right?
09:20No, I'm from Maryland.
09:21I'm a PG County baby, but I got ties to the city.
09:25Okay.
09:26Hey, my whole thing.
09:29I love everything they did.
09:31Why not put DC on the helmet?
09:35Because whenever we travel, we never say we're from Washington.
09:39We say we're from DC.
09:41And it meant something.
09:43They play in Maryland.
09:44I just thought that DC.
09:46Huh?
09:48I hear you, but I think it's representative of the entire region.
09:54The old black jerseys.
09:55One thing I did like is they had a DC flag on the shoulder.
09:58My guess is by the time the new RFK opens and they're back playing in the district, there
10:02will be some clear nod to the district.
10:05Thank you for the call, dude.
10:06Yeah.
10:08I'm going to sneak one more in here.
10:10Our guy, Blake, is in Wilmington.
10:11Blake, what's up, man?
10:12What's up, Blake?
10:14JP, Demich, what's going on, fellas?
10:17Overall, I love the uniforms, man.
10:20They look exactly like they should have on 2-222.
10:23Overall, my favorite part would have to be the spear on the black helmet.
10:27I think that's a subtle add that they should incorporate to the black and, I mean, excuse
10:32me, to the burgundy and white helmet.
10:34I think they will, like you said, JP.
10:36But another subtle thing is they just, the numbers.
10:40The biggest thing for me on the old uniforms is the numbers were like arcade game numbers.
10:44These ones look like they should.
10:46And overall, I'm real happy about it.
10:48Hopefully, they introduce like a hat or something with just the spear.
10:51And then I'd love to get like the feathers on there or something.
10:54But thank you guys for taking my call.
10:55Appreciate it, man.
10:56Thank you, dude.
10:57Um, I think this, for me, like if I could do an overall, I love the attention to detail
11:04on the classics, on just getting it right, on getting the helmet right, getting the stripes
11:09back on the pants, getting the consistent block letters and numbers, getting everything
11:15right.
11:15But my eyes are immediately most drawn to the spear.
11:19And both excitement of how that looks now in giving a new look to this block W that,
11:26frankly, I think is kind of boring, but also where that could go in the future, how that
11:31nods back to the heritage.
11:32And they've done a truly masterful job of kind of creating and building out this new complex
11:44of the commander, right?
11:47Because when the, when the commanders were unveiled, there was zero plan of like storytelling.
11:53And these folks are trying to build an identity around something they inherited and it takes,
12:00it takes time and it takes a lot of work to try to figure that out.
