00:00Ben Standig is going to join us, but before we get to Ben, let me just mention that spring
00:05is here, although it will feel like summer tomorrow and on Thursday, temperatures around
00:1290, maybe the low 90s, yeah, but if you have older windows, 10 years of age or older, spring's
00:21a great time to purchase new windows. You've got windows that probably don't open easily,
00:27they're cracked, they need to be repainted. Yeah, if you've got those kinds of windows,
00:33now's the time to reach out to Window Nation. You do it by calling them at 866-90-NATION,
00:39or you can go to windonation.com. The first thing you should say is, I heard about Window Nation
00:45and you guys from Kevin Sheehan. They'll take really good care of you. It starts with an in-home
00:51estimate that costs you nothing. They'll schedule it for you when it's convenient for you. It'll
00:57take an hour or less. You'll actually find out which windows need to be replaced versus those
01:03that don't. They'll leave you with a quote, and then you make the call on whether or not you want
01:08to move forward. Now, right now, Window Nation is offering the more you buy, the more you save sale.
01:14So the more you buy, you could save up to 50% off. You may end up paying half price
01:20on your purchase.
01:22Plus, if you choose to finance the purchase, how does 0% interest for five years sound?
01:28That's pretty good. You can't beat that. And I don't think you can beat the offer that
01:33Window Nation currently has. And you definitely can't beat the way they will deal with you,
01:38the customer. They have over 45,000 five-star reviews on social media. And Forbes ranked Window Nation
01:46number one in the country among window installation companies. 96% of their installs
01:52require no follow-up service. 866-90-NATION or windownation.com. All right, Ben Standing is
02:01with us on a Tuesday because I was off yesterday. He'll be back with us on Friday. And then next
02:07week,
02:07leading into the draft, we'll try to get Ben on as much as possible. He'll have, obviously, his
02:15last and final mock draft on Wednesday, April 22nd, I am assuming. We'll see how that works out.
02:23I do want to start with this, though. What tweet did you pull back yesterday? Did you delete?
02:30I know it had something to do with Anthony Davis. I never saw the original tweet. And I wanted to
02:36talk
02:36to you about Anthony Davis anyway, because we did it for the first 45 minutes of the show today
02:41about his press conference yesterday. But what did you tweet? And then what did you decide to delete?
02:52So I was not at the press conference, but somebody took a video, was filming a video,
02:57and they put it on social media. And at the very top of the press conference, Anthony Davis has his
03:02phone on the table. And I guess the phone rings. And in the history of me going to press conferences,
03:09I've never seen anybody actually answer a phone call. Now, it just started, I get that. But he
03:14picks it up and answers it. And I don't know, it wasn't like he was having like a, hey, how's
03:19it going?
03:20You know, but he was talking to somebody quickly. And I was just like, okay, now in and of itself,
03:25that may not sound like a big deal. I get it. But it comes on the heels of him telling
03:29Draymond
03:30Green that, yeah, look, this is, this place is, you know, he thought he was nervous when he first
03:35got here. It's not as bad as people think, but it's semi-backhanded helmet, but okay. Then he's
03:41like, you know, look, I, it's hard to go from a, the worst team to a contender. And, you know,
03:46I basically, you know, if they're not going to be a contender, then I don't know why I want to
03:48play
03:49here. So it already seemed like he's got one foot out the door. He said that on what? Draymond Green's
03:53podcast? Yeah. I mean, he said a lot of reasonable things. He likes the kids. He likes the organization.
03:58They've treated him well, but nonetheless, at his age, he wants to go for a title. And,
04:03you know, it's not realistic to think they will be in that position next year. That's all fair.
04:07My point is that hearing those comments and then seeing him pick up the phone to me, it
04:12ran over to the guy who is not invested here, that this is not, this is just a, he's passing
04:19through. I just can't imagine if he's in Miami with Pat Riley or with some other teams, he's
04:23picking that phone up. And again, I understand that it's not that big of a deal anyway. So I tweeted
04:28it out. No, I think it's a big deal. I think it's incredibly unprofessional, but you know
04:33that they cut it out of the website's version of the press conference. Cause I watched, yeah,
04:39I watched the press conference on the website and it wasn't there and, and Max played it
04:44back and you can hear the cut. They cut that. So they didn't think it was a good look either.
04:50Clearly. Yeah. So yeah. So whatever, whatever I said, I mean, I don't really take back anything
04:56I said. It was just sort of like, you know what, I'm not there. Let me just, you know,
05:01let me just dial back. But you know, I still, to me, like I said, I'm, I'm, I'm still pro
05:07that trade. I think it was, they, they got a potentially really significant asset for almost
05:11nothing. And I also totally understand that Anthony Davis was like, Hey, I don't know why
05:16I'm here. You know, like where I'm at versus where you guys are at with all these kids who
05:21look really good, but you know, they're still kids. I get that. But yeah, it was just very
05:26odd to see somebody do that. Uh, and to me, it just read up, boy, this guy really is not
05:31invested in being here. Yeah, no, I would have thought the same thing. Um, I would have thought
05:37the exact same thing. Had I watched it, it would have been like, I don't really have time
05:41for this kind of a thing. Um, now that aside, what did you think of the press conference
05:47as a whole? Did you watch the whole thing? Um, I only heard a little bit. I mean, I, I
05:52was mostly catching it on like people retweeting or tweeting things out. Um, whatever. I mean,
05:57like I said, I, I, I listened to the dream on green podcast and it sounds like at least
06:02the part that he talked about the wizards and it sounds like he said a lot of similar things
06:05here. And, um, you know, it seemed like he was, you know, pretty, again, pretty appreciative
06:10of what they do. Oh, that's the other thing. He also said, when asked about, is he going
06:14to play here next year? He says, I'm under contract. You know, that, that's, that's like,
06:19that's like a one step removed from Marshawn Lynch saying I'm only here. So I won't get fined.
06:24So that was the other part of like, that doesn't sound like much of a, uh, much of a, uh,
06:29you
06:29know, a buy-in as well. So like I said, I thought he said some good things. He clearly
06:34is impressed by the kids that they have. And I think that's, he should be right. That
06:38they've been, they've been pretty good. I understand. They may not have an Anthony
06:41Davis, a young Anthony Davis on the roster, but we'll see. So, um, yeah, yeah. So those
06:48were sort of the highlights I got out of it. If there's other things I should watch, let
06:52me know. But, uh, yeah, those are no, I mean, I think the, the overall was there, there was
06:57a lot of positive things that he said about not only the players, um, but you know, Michael
07:03winger will Dawkins, he actually said, you know, they do something here that I don't
07:07even want to reveal what they do, but it's really good. Like, like there's some, you
07:11know, there, there's some sort of, um, secret sauce, you know, that they're making back there
07:17to come up with those 17 wins. Uh, but I actually, the, the only, I don't, I try not to
07:23take these
07:24things super seriously. These are young people. I know he's 33 and he's experienced, but you
07:30know, this is a league where the players run the league. Uh, and the one thing, and
07:34I took calls on it is, you know, he said, we still have some things to figure out, but
07:38he said, I don't want to go through this again, meaning I don't want to get traded
07:40again, or I don't want to start over again. But what are those things to get figured out?
07:45It could be contract. It could be head coach. It could be a couple of players that he wants
07:49to be a part of next year. Look, I like the trade too, because if you get him next year
07:56in
07:56Anthony Davis form for 65 plus games, the team's going to be in the post season next
08:02year. And it's a better developmental, uh, environment for their young players than winning
08:0925 games up from 17 last year. I mean, can you imagine if Anthony Davis plays, like
08:15you said, 65 or so games and he's a, you know, standard all-star season and they get,
08:21you know, dare to dream AJ DeBonsa or one of the, you know, whichever one of these guys
08:26they get that influx of talent by just that would be huge. I understand the Trey
08:31young part too, but also like, you know, the wizards spend their, their payroll is
08:36pretty, uh, pretty light because they have all these kids on rookie contracts and the
08:41back of their bench are guys who were like, you know, G league players. So if they
08:44actually spend money because they're going to have to just reach the salary cap
08:48floor and bring in actual vets, that's even another talent boost. So like, again, I'm not
08:53saying they'll be a contender in the East, but there's a, there's a path here where they
08:56could be, you know, in the playoffs, but here's the rub. I've been very bullish on what they've
09:01been doing so far, the wizard, but if they signed Trey young and Anthony Davis, the long-term
09:05contracts, I think that to me could be a disaster. So, uh, yeah, just because yeah, I think there's
09:11a lot of questions about Trey young still, is he a guy that's going to help you really
09:14win and Anthony Davis, unfortunately can't stay healthy. So, and he's, you know, 33.
09:18So that, that's why this is so interesting. I still, again, I think the wizards are in
09:23an excellent position. If some team, what, if some team flames out in the first round
09:26of the playoffs and enters, we have to do something mode. Uh, go look at the list of
09:32free agents this year. It's a pretty weak group. Anthony Davis and Trey young could be
09:36high on lift. So I think there's a long way to go here, but, uh, yeah, well, uh, you
09:40know, we'll, we'll see where it goes by the way. Uh, Will Dawkins, Eric sent this to
09:44him. He was on with the junks this morning and said, we traded for Anthony Davis to be
09:49here and play for us. And that's the plan. We're excited to have him around. He added
09:54that he was in the process of ramping up to play, but ran out of time. All right. Enough
10:00about that team. Let's talk about our football team, uh, and talk about what will happen
10:05sort of chronologically between today and next Thursday. And let's start with the uniform
10:11reveal. What are you expecting tomorrow? Um, hopefully it's not, uh, Doug Williams and
10:21Jason Wright on the today show going where the commanders hopefully it's not that you
10:25think it's going to be a video. It'll be like a video, right? There's no press conference
10:28for it. Is there? Uh, no, no. Um, yeah, no, I think a video, I mean, I'm assuming cause it
10:34looked like they were already teasing it and fans and others are much more like all on this
10:38than me, but I think there was like a video, right? Where they show the players like
10:41listing up a box and looking at presumably. Yeah. That was the, that was the April 15th.
10:47It's coming video. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I assume it'll be some, you know, the full version
10:52of that. Some of the guys will have them on and, uh, you know, everybody's saying, Oh,
10:57wow, these are dope. And maybe there's, you know, it's sincere, you know, it's a throwback
11:01essentially, you know, maybe there'll be the Daryl greens or Joe Theismans or whoever there
11:06as well to, uh, you know, look at it. So yeah, I would imagine that. I mean, look,
11:10these guys have been, I think pretty on, on point when it comes to most of these types
11:15of, um, moments. And obviously this is a big one for a lot of people out there.
11:20And, you know, I, it always goes back. I wouldn't go back to, I, you know, I understand
11:25to an extent why they felt compelled. They had, why they had to change the name, blah, blah,
11:30blah. I never understood why they had to change the uniforms or the colors made absolutely no
11:34sense. And they just made the transition so much worse. It looked like you weren't even
11:40looking at the same team. So anything that harkens back to the, to the rich history here
11:45would be, I think a big win.
11:47All right. Then on Thursday, we get, uh, Adam Peters, correct? In a press conference pre-draft?
11:54Correct.
11:56Um, you know, uh, you know, what, what are you, like, what are you thinking about? You'd
12:01like to learn from him. He's not the biggest reveal, uh, in these situations. That's for
12:07sure. You know, I, I just read what Albert Breer reported yesterday that Washington's one
12:11of five teams looking to trade back. Um, what do you, what do you want to learn from Adam
12:17Peters on Thursday?
12:21Yeah. I mean, look, like you said, he's not going to tell us if they're going to trade
12:24back, but maybe some sense of their level of interest in doing so. I mean, it's obviously,
12:32you know, you don't have to be coy about this. You only have two, not just those two picks
12:36in the top 100. They only have two picks in the top, like one 50 or way at one 40,
12:40something
12:40you know, like after the third round pick, they have to wait forever to go again. So, um, it's
12:46obvious that they should want to get more picks could also be trading down in the third
12:50round perhaps, but yeah, logically trading down in the first. So how, how much does that
12:55matter? Because, you know, I, I did a story the other day about, um, I, I've done a story
13:00a couple of weeks ago about here's some potential trades you could, could they could consider
13:03right now I did it one like, okay, let's say they make some trades. Here's the players that
13:08they could potentially get. And if you trade past say 12 or so, it feels like that's where
13:14a tier and talent drop occurs. And then obviously the further down you go, the more it's going
13:19to get, which isn't to say there aren't some players that could help, but that's the call
13:23they're going to have to make whatever's viewed as a blue ship in this draft, a sunny style,
13:27the Caleb downs, Jeremiah love is that it's taking that guy worth not getting more picks
13:34or the opposite, right? Is it worth getting more picks and potentially missing out on a guy
13:39who, um, you know, could be a big stud. And obviously we remember, uh, back in 2022, when
13:47they had the pick that turned into Chris Olave with the saints and, you know, they ended up
13:52making a trade that got them John Dodson, Brian Robinson, Sam Howell. And, you know, I, I, I,
13:57yeah. And like, in general, I'm, I was in favor of that. I was not in favor of drafting the
14:03receiver, uh, right there. And, you know, et cetera. So, and of course they also missed
14:08out on Kyle Hamilton who they could have picked instead. So, you know, that, that's the, that's
14:12the, that's the question. And I, again, we'll see if Peters shows anything, but you know,
14:17is there any hint of, of which way he might go for that? I think is, you know, obviously
14:21a big, a big one. Yeah. You just reminded me, I was talking about that in 2022 and you got
14:27to be careful. I mean, 2011, they passed on JJ Watt. They got Ryan Kerrigan, but they missed
14:33out on a hall of famer, um, if they were interested in that position. But yeah, I mean,
14:38I, I loved Kyle Hamilton before that draft. And I was just saying earlier, I'm, you know,
14:43you look back on it, would you rather have Chris Alave or would you rather have the players
14:47you got, uh, with the trade back? You'd much rather have Chris Alave, but really you'd much
14:51rather have another swing at it and take Kyle Hamilton, which they didn't. Although Alave's
14:57are really good players. So what do you, uh, what version are you on right now of your
15:02mock and who do you have Washington taking and why?
15:07Yeah, I just did, uh, 8.0 when it went up this week, but I kind of did it in
15:12two parts,
15:12like doing trades always kind of feels like a cheat a little bit, you know, cause you're
15:17just sort of, I mean, the whole thing is obviously a guess, but like, it's just, you're forcing
15:20a guess on the situation. So I did one version, no trades, you know, they stick and pick at
15:26seven. And then I did another version where trades all over the place, you know, and I don't
15:31know if it's not trade for the sake of trade, but just things that to me make sense. Um,
15:35in terms of the straightforward one, you know, look, I think for me, it's just going to come
15:39down to is Sonny Stiles or Jeremiah love there. There is a world where they, neither of them
15:44are there, of course, but you know, I think Dodger feels decent to me that one of them
15:50is there, but you know, of course it all depends. Is there how many offensive linemen are going
15:55in the top seven? And if you're a zero, then the chances of getting either of those guys
15:59drops a lot, if there's one, then I think there's a pretty decent chance. If there's two,
16:03then I think there's a really, really good chance. So in this one, I had Stiles still there,
16:09love going to the Titans at four. So that's where I went. Um, I am starting to warm up more
16:15and more
16:15and more to the Caleb Downs angle, not to say that I was ever down on it. I, he was
16:19the guy I was
16:19constantly picking for them before free agency. Uh, but you know, he, he does, he doesn't fit the
16:25quote unquote athlete angle that they seem to be, have gone with so far. These guys who score
16:32out of the charts there, but he scores off the charts when it comes to everything else and
16:37instincts, intangibles, maturity, football, not acumen, all the things. And when you consider
16:44what a Brian Flores defense requires that safety, who's able to go to move up and back with ease and,
16:51uh, you know, be a communicator and handle all those responsibilities is a huge part of that.
16:56So, uh, yeah, so to me, like those three guys are kind of where I'm at right now, but Stiles
17:01is
17:01where I went, uh, in this one. I mean, you're mock drafting those players to them and thinking
17:08that one of those three, if available, will get picked. Um, is that, that's part combined with
17:16your hunch that these are players that really would fit what they're looking for? Right. Uh, but
17:22I mean, I, I, I, Sonny Stiles is the, is the latest mock cause you got love going at four,
17:28but do
17:29you think if Stiles is gone, downs is gone and loves the only one on the board, do you think
17:33that's what
17:34they'll do? Or do you think that they're perhaps interested in trading back because they don't think
17:40elite exists at seven? Yeah. Well, I mean, that's, that, that, that's the, that, that's the
17:47question. I mean, like, you know, in terms of just who's the best player in the draft, regardless of
17:51position, those three guys are often at the, at the top, uh, you know, quarterback can be, uh, can,
17:58can, uh, tank the rankings to a degree because everybody values quarterback, but those three guys
18:03may be the most, the best pure players in the draft. It's just, they don't play the premium positions
18:07that teams want to take that high. So again, it just comes down to what is there a trade that
18:13they
18:14think makes sense because they're getting so much value in terms of the incoming picks that it's
18:18worth if they have to drop down a tier. I mean, it's also conceivable. I think if you stay in
18:23like
18:23the top 11, you're probably in pretty good shape to get one of these guys. Now that may include an
18:29offensive lineman and, uh, Spencer Fano from Utah has like, you know, significant upside as an athlete,
18:35uh, and obviously pretty good player in college. So, you know, maybe that appeals to them at that
18:39stage if they get extra picks, if you trade beyond 11, I think is where then it's like, okay,
18:44so what are we looking at here? We're probably down a position, but you know, do we think we can
18:48still get a, uh, you know, whatever, maybe a pass rusher in that range, maybe it's, you know,
18:53drop down, maybe Jordan Tyson, the receiver from Arizona state become is there and he's enticing,
18:58you know, he's got the injury history, but he's also maybe the most talented receiver in the draft.
19:02So I think, you know, again, I think that's just what it comes down to. And then of course they
19:06would also presumably pick up an extra second or maybe a third and a fourth or, you know,
19:11however the math works there. So all of that is a huge deal and, you know, it would be great
19:16to
19:16get extra picks, but can you do that and not feel like you're compromising the talent level that
19:22you're getting with the first pick? Uh, one last one on, on next week. If let's just say love
19:29and styles are gone. Um, do you think downs more than Delaney or, you know, a pass rusher?
19:38I mean, or Tate?
19:42Yeah. So, I mean, I, so in terms of Tate, like my, you know, look, I, I'm not, uh, completely
19:49settled on anything yet just because we don't know who's even going to be on the board. But to me,
19:53when you look at the whole totality of it all, I just don't think it makes much sense to take
19:57a
19:57receiver at seven, not saying Carnell Tate is bad, but the guys you can get at 71 also look pretty
20:03interesting. And, you know, you can take that player, you can take whatever you want at seven
20:08and still get a quality receiver the other way. If say they wanted an offensive lineman, you can't
20:13do that. There's some positions that run short. So I wouldn't take receiver there. Um, pass rusher.
20:19Well, it probably depends where they had on the Reuben Bain situation. And, uh, again, he's very
20:24talented, all that we know about the arms and all that, but like, I, to me, it just doesn't seem
20:29like an ideal fit for, for Washington. So to me, I've been sort of not looking at him and then
20:35the
20:35lane versus downs, you know, the quarterback is, is traditionally the more valuable position.
20:42I don't know if it is in this defense though, because of the way that the Brian Flores, uh,
20:47scheme emphasized the safeties, you know, with the blitz with, with their heavy blitz, you don't
20:53need a cornered pass to sort of stay with that guy for a longer time. It's just that somebody who
20:58can
20:58react and keep up with them. So I, I kind of, like I had Dan Brugler on, uh, you know,
21:04the athletic
21:04draft analyst. And I said to him flat out, if you could pick the lane and down to sit there,
21:08what are
21:08you doing? He's like, Oh, I really liked the both, but I'm definitely taking down. And I, other people
21:13give me the same, the same take. So it would be, again, it would be opposite of what Peters has
21:19done in terms of, uh, type of athletes he's gone after, but this kid seems like, you know, he's off
21:25the charts and so many other intangible kind of ways. So, yeah. So to me, those are the, those are
21:30the options more than Tate, more than Bain, the lane I'm still sort of torn, but yeah, that's kind
21:36of how I look at it right now. All right. Uh, thanks for doing this. We will talk on Friday
21:41and then
21:42we'll figure out the schedule for next week. Look forward to it. You got to be, uh, anybody
21:47has any questions you want me to ask Adam Peters, let me not send them my way. Cause
21:51tweet, tweet at Ben standing. If you've got some questions for Adam Peters on Thursday,
21:57cause Adam's really open and he'll, he'll answer. He'll give you everything you want,
22:02uh, with whatever you ask. It's more of, I got to get out of my own head. Like I, I
22:08know
22:08what I, I know what I think, but like, I, I think the same things all the time. So maybe
22:12somebody else has a different angle that I'm down. I'm down for whatever.
22:16I'm always available to hear what people want me to ask. Uh, so tweet at Ben standing for
22:22Adam Peters questions on Thursday. Uh, also follow Ben and go to his Twitter account, his X account
22:31to get a link to his sub stack. Uh, it's totally worth subscribing to. All right. I'll holler
22:36you later. Thanks. Thanks man. All right. So I want to ask everybody right now here, 24
22:44hours before we will know what the new uniforms will look like. What are you expecting to see?
22:52I know what I'm expecting to see. And I've been sharing this with you for a long time. Forget
22:56that. What do you want to see? What are you hoping gets unveiled tomorrow in terms of the
23:05new uniforms? What would make you happy? 301-230-0980 because this time tomorrow we'll have
23:13whatever it is there they've used to reveal the new uniforms for 2026. By the way, we're
23:20going to get something that resembles the championship era uniform, something similar
23:24to the alt uniforms last year, but we never saw what the burgundy top looked like. I mean,
23:29I know what it looked like in 1991, so I don't have to stretch my imagination, but I wonder
23:35if we'll get something that is sort of identical to that. The helmets, the big question I know
23:40among many fans, will there be some sort of spear, uh, involved? I doubt we'll see the old
23:47logo on the helmet. That's unfortunate. Um, but what do you want to see tomorrow when the
23:53team unveils its new uniforms for 2026 and beyond, uh, how far beyond? I don't know. Um, but beyond.
