Ever wondered how a carbon bike gets its perfectly smooth surface? This is Part 8 of our series, where we dive into the crucial sanding and finishing stage. Watch as skilled workers meticulously remove every imperfection to prepare the frame for its final paint job.

00:04This is the series where we reveal the secrets of producing world tour level bikes.
00:08Part 7. Sanding
00:10Our carbon bike has now been laid up, cured and machined but it's still missing some very important pieces.
00:16The chainstays and seatstays slot together and then exactly 10 grams of adhesive is measured out to secure them.
00:22Next stop, the finishing room.
00:24These tables suck.
00:26No really, they continually suck away the dust and are so effective that we didn't need masks on.
00:32Any rough edges, small mould lines and imperfections are removed to create a flat, smooth and blemish-free surface.
00:39Sanding also removes the glossy resin topcoat and micro-keys the carbon fibre surface to allow paint and or clear
00:47coats to stick to it.
