00:00Welcome to the Noisy Room.
00:02How do you make a carbon bike?
00:04This is the series where we reveal the secrets of producing World Tour level bikes.
00:09Part 3 Cutting and Kitting
00:11The first step is to layer up six sheets of pre-preg carbon fibre arranged at 45 degrees
00:16angles to each other. The XLAB AD9 is made from 304 individual pieces and so it's fair to say
00:24there's a lot of cutting to be done, especially as each frame size needs different size pieces.
00:30The cutting process is done by a CNC machine and this uses a super sharp blade rather than a laser
00:36so that the edges aren't burnt or melted. The pieces are arranged as close together as possible
00:42to minimise wastage and once cut the pieces are transported to the layout room to start
00:46building our bike. Follow along not to miss it.
