00:02How do you make a carbon bike?
00:05This is the series where we reveal the secrets of producing World Tour level bikes.
00:10Part 2 Pre-Preg World Tour bikes are made from Pre-Preg
00:14carbon fibre and carbon fibre is made of fibres and epoxy resin.
00:19For the brands making their own Pre-Preg sheets the exact composition of the resin is highly
00:24guarded and the secret recipe is mixed before being turned into sheets.
00:28The fibres, each made up of 12,000 strands, are shipped in from Japan in the K-Specs Lab
00:35and each one of these rolls contains 4 kilos or 5 kilometres of carbon.
00:41Every strand needs to be perfectly aligned and under the right tension when it meets the
00:45epoxy sheets.
00:47The result is a roll of 150 metres of carbon fibre and it will be turned into a complete
00:52bike in just 2 days.
00:54Follow along to see how they do it.
