28:58I come from a Hispanic household where me being me was just not okay.

29:05I come from a past of trying to take my own life and I came to a point where I

29:13take control of my own life and find something that made me happy and that's something that
29:18I found with drag.
29:19I've spent the last 14 years sacrificing and trying so hard to just have a moment like this.
29:30And being here and sharing it with all of you has literally shown me that it's okay.

30:14For me, when I was born, I think as soon as I came out, I was very flamboyant.
30:19I was very effervescent instantly from day one.
30:22And unfortunately for me, at a very young age, I went through some pretty serious abuse.
30:29And my trajectory from that abuse turned into a very serious problem with drugs and alcohol.
30:35And for me, drugs and alcohol stole so many years of my life.
30:41And so many opportunities that I feel like I could have had.
30:45The thing that turned my light back on was drag.
30:50And was getting to express myself in this art form and in this community.
30:54It just makes it feel correct.
30:56And I really, truly feel like everything that makes me who I am,
31:01It puts me on this stage and it puts me in these stilettos.
31:03And it puts me in control of my own destiny.
31:07I'm like on the verge of tears.
31:10When you first came into the competition, there was something in you that I noticed that you just described.
31:16There was just this innate joy and this extreme feeling of you being so present.
31:25And then when they told me that you were sober,
31:32that's exactly what I was responding to because I've been just celebrated 20 years before we started this journey together.
31:39And it was so beautiful to me because finding out that what I was responding to was that light and
31:47that joy that
31:49I tried to dampen out myself as well for many years and you are going to help so many people.

32:13My journey started in Greece.
32:16I grew up in a very, very, very religious conservative surrounding.
32:22And from the moment that I was brought into this world, I had all these expectations thrusted upon me in
32:29a way.
32:30Walking a certain way, speaking a certain way, acting a certain way.
32:34Every single little thing that I did in my entire life growing up there was deemed wrong.
32:40And I grew up hating every aspect of myself.
32:46Because when you're so young and everybody tells you this is wrong, don't do it this way.
32:50Don't sit that way.
32:51Don't cross your legs that way.
32:52You think that there's something wrong with you.
32:54I would pray for release or my miracle to be fixed somehow.
33:02And I wish I could grab my younger self from the shoulders and shake him and be like,
33:05your prayers are not being answered because there's absolutely nothing wrong with you.
33:10And when I discovered drag, I literally sculpted myself from stone.
33:16I realized the strength that I had inside of me.
33:19All these fantasy worlds that I created as a child because I couldn't find a space for myself in the
33:23world.
33:24And I found a way to bring it all to life and to apply it whether I was in drag
33:28or not.
33:29If I hadn't found drag, I would not be the person that I am today.

37:40You have an it factor about you that can't be fabricated, and it's extraordinary to watch.
