Since humanity's return to the edge of the Moon through NASA's Artemis mission, the idea of space travel has gone from science fiction to something that feels within reach. It's one small step for astronauts but a giant leap for everyday opinion as Leeds locals have been reflecting on if they would ever visit space or another planet.

00:00I think generally it's a great advancement for science to be able to travel so far towards the moon.
00:07I think that's the farthest that humans have traveled on the moon, I think.
00:11And yeah, well, sadly, all the news were taken over by the Iran war.
00:17So not much thoughts have gone towards that.
00:23But yeah, generally I would say a good advancement.
00:26But personally, I'm not interested in space travel.
00:29I think too risky.
00:31I would like to go to space, but I also wouldn't because like going to space, you have a great
00:37opportunity to see new things that people haven't discovered before.
00:42But also I would like want to start my career in like my city, have like a life on Earth
00:49and socialize with others as well.
00:52Me personally, if to go to space, I wouldn't because you don't really know what's going on there.
00:57We're all getting told, and NASA tells us really.
01:00And for all we know, it might not even be rocks, it might not even could be organisms that we
01:04don't know about or bacterial infections.
01:06So I'd rather be comfortable when I'm known at it.
01:08I would like to go and spend some days over the moon.
01:11Yeah, why not?
01:13It's a fantastic idea.
01:14Perfectly.
01:14You can go.
01:15Some point in the future when I'm a millionaire, then 100%.
01:18But right now I think it's about my budget.
01:20My thoughts on the space mission is quite a tricky one because when I listen to the space mission on
01:30the news, what comes to mind, it's a misplacement of priority in the world today.
01:36Because when we look at the sufferings around the world and when we look at what human beings need, I
01:43think spending that amount of money for space mission is quite a misplacement of priority.
01:50And because when you look at what's going on in Africa, especially, and medical needs and agricultural development and stuff
02:04like that, I think if we can channel the amount that is spent on space mission into human development, I
02:15think that will help a lot.
02:18And I think it's more of a distraction.
02:21For me, I'd love to because, I mean, the furthest we've been to the moon.
02:26And then going past that is just making history in itself.
02:29And it's just leaving something behind that's greater than you.
02:32So if it was personally up to me, I'd love to do it.
02:35Yeah.
02:35I mean, I think anyone wants to go to space, but they might not want to do the work it
02:39would take to get there.
02:40Like, I know they do a lot of training.
02:41I would like to go to space because we can jump on the moon because there's lots of gravity.
02:52It feels like it's almost fake, if that makes sense.
02:56The last one we had was ages ago, over 70 years ago.
02:59The last one we had was ages ago.
