00:00Attention Amy Winehouse fans, you're going to want to hear about this new immersive experience that's just opened in London.
00:06Nice to hear her speaking in such a positive way.
00:11You'll get closer to her than you've most probably ever been before.
00:14Frameless, the country's largest immersive art experience, has just opened up a new pop-up in collaboration with the National
00:20Portrait Gallery.
00:22Stories Brought to Life is a 15-minute showing inside one of their huge, mesmerising rooms.
00:27It tells the stories of Amy Winehouse, Queen Elizabeth II, Nelson Mandela, William Shakespeare and Lala Yeshivzai through their most
00:35iconic portraits and their voice.
00:37Some people call me the girl who was shot by the Taliban, and some the girl who fought for her
00:44privacy.
00:45She sounded so relaxed and it was a great experience.
00:53It's very special, lovely to hear Amy and sort of, yeah, sort of just very naturally Amy.
01:03Great honour for Hingysville being placed in the company of Nelson Mandela and the Queen.
01:08The five included are among the most inspirational and iconic sitters that feature in the National Portrait Gallery,
01:15including this shot of Amy, taken by Dr. Ram Shergill, who tells me what the image means to him.
01:20That portrait means a lot, and I think there's a lot of symbolism in the image, lots of visual language,
01:29semiotics, it's everything about Amy.
01:31I think you'll see more into the image than you'll see in a normal print on the wall, because of
01:36the sheer size of it.
01:37So many different narratives in that image.
01:40All my other stuff is fabulous, it's fashion, it's this, and this time she was just being herself.
01:45Portraiture's the way in, right? I've got kids, I've got twins, and it was the way in for them.
01:50The first thing they drew was probably a face, and it's how they express their emotions.
01:54It's sometimes the easiest way for them to find out what they're feeling from what they're drawing, and it's usually
02:00people.
02:00So that's the most accessible part of art, is portraiture, and this is a very accessible space to do that
02:06in.
02:06It's completely free, with a regular ticket to the rest of their rooms, including one dedicated to surrealist art, landscapes,
02:13and featuring the work of Van Gogh, Rembrandt, and Dali.
02:17Only a stone's throw away from Marble Arch Station, tickets cost £29.50, but come at a discount for families.
02:24It might be the perfect addition to your London weekend.
02:27They even offer frameless lates, opening the gallery to adults from 6 till 10pm on Friday and Saturday evenings.
02:34I'm going to talk about Amy Winehouse, because I do love her, and I did love her.
02:38And I was lucky enough to be quite good friends with her, and I miss her.
02:46I remember once I was in the pub in Camden, and she was always acting quite odd, but she was
02:53acting particularly odd.
02:54And sat next to me at one time, and I had to go anyway, and I was like, yeah, Amy's
02:59weird tonight.
03:00And then I got to my flat, and I put my hands in my pockets to get my keys out,
03:03and she filled my pockets full of sweets, and that's why she was acting weird.
03:06I'll always have that memory.
03:08I've still got the sweets as well.
03:09Get some in a jar.
03:10That's really sweet.
