00:00Previously on Project Runway Canada, Curtis, Leland, and Charles.
00:10Congratulations, you have made it to the finale.
00:13Top three!
00:15You have seven weeks and $10,000 to create your own collection of ten looks.
00:21This is the ultimate challenge.
00:23It's been a month, and I am so excited to check in with the designers.
00:27This is going to be my opening look.
00:29I think where I'm struggling is the bright white.
00:33The white makes this really expensive lace look cheap.
00:36Damn, okay.
00:38Is every look in this collection plaid?
00:41No, just seven to eight.
00:44Right now, I'm not sold.
00:46What is wearable?
00:48You have to find a path into people's closets.
00:53Yes.
00:54Because this won't fit in my closet, literally.
00:57We are two days away from the final runway.
01:02Ooh!
01:03This is all happening.
01:05The vision is coming alive.
01:07You know who's going to be really excited to get these?
01:09Who?
01:10The bargain bin.
01:12I know that this took a lot of work, but how else can you make it more like haute couture?
01:17Where are the sleeves?
01:19One of them is here.
01:20They're still in pieces or what?
01:22The runway is tomorrow.
01:24At stake for the winner, from TV, a career-launching investment of $100,000 and a feature in Elle Canada magazine.
01:36With global supermodel, Coco Rocha.
01:39Fashion designer, Spencer Badu.
01:41Creative director, Aurora James.
01:44And legendary fashion journalist, Jeanne Becker.
01:48This is Project Runway Canada.
01:50Watch me do my thing.
02:00This is so surreal.
02:02God, whoa!
02:03What if you?
02:04Oh, my God.
02:05Oh, my God.
02:06Twelve of us came here wanting to win this competition, and only three of us are here pushing towards that finish line.
02:14Do you believe we're here?
02:16No.
02:17Top three!
02:19Top three!
02:20I think we're ready for what's next.
02:22Are you guys excited to see your collections debut on that runway tomorrow?
02:26Oh, my God, yeah!
02:28I think we can all attest to the fact that we love fashion.
02:31You can just tell by how hard we work that we love what we do.
02:36And we're friends.
02:37Yeah.
02:38That's, like, so important.
02:39Yeah.
02:40Because, like, we're all so different.
02:41Curtis, you're so young, and to be able to do this at this point in your life is so huge.
02:47You just have so much going for you.
02:50And you take risks within this competition, where people would not have taken risks.
02:54Where they wanted to be safe, you were just like, well, you know what?
02:57I'm gonna do it.
02:58And it paid off, because you're here sitting with us.
03:03And that's an honor.
03:04Like, first of all, let me say thank you, because that means the world coming from you.
03:08But I've revered both of you so much.
03:10Like, Charles, the way that your brain thinks and designs garments, like, you are a true designer.
03:16And, Leland, your ability to bring joy effortlessly, not a single design of yours has not made me smile.
03:24Mm.
03:25I'm so glad to be standing next to you, too.
03:27I'll drink to that.
03:28Charles, would you crack it?
03:29I am going to.
03:30Oh!
03:31It's been an honor sharing this experience with you.
03:36Through all of our adversity and all the challenges that we've had to go through, we came out on top, we showed who we were, and we're gonna show who we are tomorrow.
03:45Cheers!
03:46Cheers!
03:47Cheers!
03:48There have been times throughout this process that I've questioned myself, but then I realized that all of these decisions have got me to this point.
04:13$100,000, it can change my life.
04:18Winning this $100,000 would just give me the ability to create this future career that I'm dreaming of having.
04:25I deserve to win the title.
04:28And I am so ready to hold the weight of what it means to be the winner of Project Rernoy Canada.
04:34Girl, let's go.
04:35Go, go, go!
04:36We have so much work to do.
04:37Oh my gosh.
04:38Today's my new day, and I have so much to do.
04:39I have to add the sleeves onto the finale look.
04:54I have to hand sew so much.
04:56Are you ready?
04:57How much work do you have left?
04:59Girl, quite a bit.
05:01There are still so many final little details to get done before this runway.
05:07I have so many custom hats that need to be finished perfectly.
05:11Accessories are paramount to my collection.
05:14I mean, you know me, I'm like never done until everyone's wearing a hat, 17 bracelets, the shoes are studded, like...
05:20Um, I have a zipper.
05:24Baby, I'm stressing.
05:26I just really want to make sure this green plaid dress is perfect.
05:30It's so important that this one fits.
05:33This is a perfect representation of my Scottish heritage.
05:37So I'm going to do whatever I can do in the last few minutes just to make sure it's impeccable.
05:42Good morning, designers!
05:44Good morning!
05:46It is final runway day today.
05:50Let's get your models in here.
05:51Come on in!
05:52Let's do it!
05:54Go, go, go, Charles!
05:55Go, go, go, go, go!
05:56All right, let's go!
05:58Oh!
05:59Come on, first five, seven.
06:04Okay, we're doing this extremely quickly.
06:07So let's start with you.
06:09All these models need help getting dressed and I have 28 individually made pieces within my collection.
06:15So I'll trade that off to you.
06:17Thank you, thank you.
06:18Are you okay to put those on?
06:19I've never dressed anyone this fast.
06:22Just, there you go.
06:24All right, Charles, where is the finale look?
06:26Finale look is here.
06:27I still need to put on the model.
06:29I'm stressed out right now.
06:31I only have a few hours until runway and I haven't even touched this finale look.
06:34When do you plan on finishing it?
06:36Right after this.
06:37This is the time.
06:39Yeah.
06:40I think we have to, like, actually actively, like, do it now.
06:43Yeah.
06:44I am scared to finish it because it also means the end.
06:46It's not just a finale look.
06:48It is about my family.
06:50And this is not a collection.
06:52This is a love letter.
06:56I believe in me.
06:57I believe in you, too.
06:58I believe in you so much.
06:59It needs to be a wow moment.
07:02I need to get that.
07:06Walk me through what's happening and what's still left to do.
07:09So, I need to get this skirt back onto my lovely model.
07:12Yes.
07:13Because this is going to be my closing look.
07:15Oh, it is.
07:16Little bit of accessorizing to happen on our sailor.
07:19Okay.
07:20So, accessorizing here.
07:21Otherwise, this look is done.
07:22Otherwise, it's perfect.
07:23Okay.
07:24Then I have a question for you.
07:25I have an answer, hopefully.
07:30Are you asking me if you should be putting the knee pads back into the show?
07:34This is what I'm going to say to you.
07:36You have to do what you feel like is right.
07:39Okay.
07:40You must do this and have no regrets.
07:44Ugh.
07:45What am I going to regret more, though?
07:46Using them or not using them?
07:47I don't know.
07:48It depends on if you go home with $100,000 or not.
07:50And maybe it's a game-time decision that you have to make.
07:53Yeah.
07:54You may not be able to make it right now.
07:56Yeah.
07:57You have to do you.
07:58I need to figure this out.
08:02Hold on.
08:03Can we talk about this look and the changes that you made?
08:05Because it's amazing.
08:07Yes!
08:08Yes!
08:09Come on over.
08:10Come on over.
08:11Come on over.
08:12Are you in love?
08:13I think this is, like, my favorite look that I've made.
08:16It's so incredible.
08:18And it really pushed me out of my comfort zone, you know?
08:21And you took the belt off.
08:23If they took the belts off for this exact second.
08:25Okay.
08:26But they're going back on.
08:27I think they will go on.
08:28Right now, I think this corset looks much cleaner and much more elevated without the belt.
08:33Maybe the corset doesn't need a belt.
08:36It's giving her an incredible silhouette right now.
08:41Hey!
08:42Hey!
08:43Hey!
08:44Then, you're like...
08:45Ehhh!
08:46Hahaha!
08:47...
08:48Designers, it's time for hair and makeup.
08:50Get your models over to the L'OrEalle Paris Glam Room.
08:55I love that.
08:57So, what I'm really hoping to do with makeup here, is maybe go a heavier blush, a smokey eye.
09:02and then I think just a neutral lip
09:04because the collection has, like, a lot of colors.
09:08I am obsessed.
09:09And now that we're done,
09:11we're gonna lock in the makeup layers
09:13by using L'Oreal Paris Infallible 3 Second Setting Mist.
09:16Ooh.
09:20It looks so great.
09:27It's moving right here.
09:32Sorry.
09:37Oops, oh!
09:39Oh, my God.
09:40This is insane.
09:41Do a spin for me.
09:43Oh, we need to tie this.
09:45Final runway is happening!
09:49That needs to be one tighter.
09:51We're about to go to the runway,
09:53and I've done everything I can.
09:55Oh, my God, I saw the lace at the back.
09:57I can't even see because I'm sweating into my eyes.
09:59Okay.
10:00Can someone please get me a tissue?
10:02What happened with the leather tin dress piece?
10:04We're not using it.
10:05We're not using it?
10:06No.
10:07Okay.
10:08I agreed with your feedback,
10:09but I'm gonna do this,
10:10which is the hand pieces.
10:11Okay, who do you want them on?
10:12On Miss Tin.
10:13I spent so much time on these,
10:15and I want to send at least one pair down this runway.
10:18This is a suit of armor.
10:20She's got to be ready to fight.
10:22You guys look amazing.
10:24Did you finish the finale look?
10:25Yeah, the finale look is finished.
10:27Okay, great.
10:28Everyone, we have ten minutes.
10:29If you're a model and you need something,
10:31now is the time to say so.
10:35If anyone needs to take a step back,
10:37look at your collection and edit something,
10:39now is the time.
10:40Switch.
10:41No, with her.
10:42Throughout this whole competition,
10:44I feel like I haven't been recognized
10:47to the level I needed to be recognized.
10:49Okay, one last thing,
10:50but this time,
10:51all the walls are down,
10:53and this is me.
10:54This is Charles Liu.
10:55All right, you guys ready to rock this?
10:57We're about to do the biggest runway show of our life,
11:00and everything's on the line right now.
11:02I'm looking back,
11:03and I feel good with what's here,
11:05and I know it's runway ready.
11:07You did it!
11:08Yay!
11:09My job is done.
11:11Models are ready,
11:12and they're gonna walk down that runway
11:14for better or for worse.
11:16Let's start the show!
11:18Let's do this!
11:35Welcome to the Project Runway Canada finale!
11:38Tonight, we celebrate the imagination and talent
11:45of our three finalists.
11:47Curtis, Leland, and Charles have poured their heart
11:50and soul into the collections
11:52you're about to see this evening,
11:54and this is their big moment.
11:57But first, please welcome our judges.
12:00Fashion designer, Spencer Badu!
12:03Fashion journalist, Jeannie Becker!
12:09And welcome back, creative visionary, Jason Wu!
12:15We all watched our finalists take their first steps
12:21in this competition,
12:23and now we will see how far they've come.
12:26Oh, it's happening.
12:28Is everyone ready?
12:30Let's start the show!
12:33Let's start the show!
12:48Hi, everyone.
12:49I just want to say that this is not a collection.
12:53This is a love letter.
12:57And this story is about me meeting my grandmother
13:00for the first time in Vietnam.
13:02And then also, I figured out,
13:05as I was making this collection,
13:07it was really about my family building their life,
13:11and that I'm a representation of how far they've come.
13:33Wow.
13:37In this collection, I've created individual pieces
13:44that work on their own,
13:46but together, they tell a very strong story.
14:03This sort of gray, olive color
14:05is where we're going more into Vietnam
14:07and kind of, like, these shapes
14:08typical in our culture.
14:10One thing in this collection that's really prevalent
14:25is this shape of the Aoi eyes.
14:27The lines are so good.
14:29This look is ultra-feminine,
14:30but has masculine elements as well.
14:33It is really the next evolution into my design stage.
14:45Oh, wow.
14:46This collection is about everything
14:48I'm trying to connect to.
14:54Wow.
14:55This is one of the best pieces I've ever made.
15:08It is so dynamic.
15:10It is so powerful.
15:12It is so emotional.
15:13Boy, I could see the work that went into that one.
15:20Unbelievable.
15:22I mean, look at your mom's crying.
15:25Aw, Charles.
15:30Okay.
15:31Okay.
15:36This piece is the finale piece
15:38because not only is it all white,
15:41which is the antithesis of what I started with,
15:44this is where the culture of my family really comes out,
15:48referencing where I came from.
15:51Whoa.
15:52That was exhilarating.
15:56This is so special.
16:01All of these separate pieces are really the fabric of who I am as a person.
16:08Everything I learned in the last 20 years of my life were put into this collection,
16:14and I know I've done my absolute best.
16:31Hello, hello.
16:34It is my honor to present this collection to you all tonight
16:37that I have titled I Wither Then Bite.
16:40My inspiration for this collection was my journey with fear.
16:45Throughout my whole life, I've let fear control my actions,
16:49whether it was the fear of never being good enough,
16:52the fear of expressing my authentic gender expression,
16:55or the fear of committing my life to being a fashion designer.
16:59And I let that fear build up this armor on me that I thought was protecting me,
17:04but it was really holding me back.
17:06And it was through this competition that I learned to take pieces of those armor
17:09off.
17:24Seeing my first look come down this runway is amazing.
17:31It really represents the shedding of an old skin and a rebirth.
17:35The whole point is that I'm taking off my armor, you know?
17:38I'm letting my guard down and being really vulnerable here.
17:44I'm a queer designer creating for the queer community.
17:48And it took me coming here to realize that fashion was the vehicle
17:52that brought myself to my own identity.
17:57Oh, yeah.
17:58Yeah.
17:59Silhouette is so good.
18:00It's sexy, but it's weird, which I feel like is me.
18:03It's so cool.
18:05That is cool.
18:12I wanted to use these 10 looks to really show the judges how much I can do.
18:17I'm honestly really impressed I was able to pull off an outerwear piece like this.
18:40Oh, yeah.
18:55Yeah, it's so cool.
18:57I mean, it's very you.
18:58It's very Curtis.
19:02This whole collection is pieces I would wear and be happy to wear.
19:06And I think that's a huge step for me.
19:12I love this look.
19:13Yeah.
19:23These characters are existing in the same world that all uses the same colors and textures and palette.
19:28Ooh, yes. Ooh.
19:37Gonna be a real slow walk with Miss Tin Man.
19:49So cool.
19:51The sequined mermaid gown, just the complete representation of where I'm at now.
19:55I wanted it to feel modern, you know?
19:57Oh, wow.
19:58The future of Canadian fashion.
20:00It is really a beautiful capstone to my entire journey here.
20:05Not what I expected.
20:06Not me.
20:07I finally feel proud of myself.
20:21This has been such a huge accomplishment for me, and all of the sacrifices I've made are completely paying off.
20:27Can I get that girl out of that metal skirt now?
20:40Woo!
20:42Oh, my God!
20:43Hey, everybody!
20:45Whoa!
20:47Oh, my God!
20:48Hi, guys. How are you?
20:49Hi!
20:50I really wish I could put this entire experience into words.
20:53It has been, like, a fairy tale.
20:56My collection represents my heritage, where I'm half Chinese, half Scottish, but through a punk lens.
21:03I really, really, really want to bring fun back into fashion.
21:07So, yeah. Enjoy! Thank you!
21:08Bye!
21:09Yay!
21:16Oh!
21:18Yes!
21:20Wow.
21:28Our collections could not be more different.
21:30I know.
21:32See, that's what I want, the smiles.
21:33Just people seeing it and going, oh, my God.
21:36So fun, Leila.
21:39I really wanted to play around with splitting up garments and juxtaposing them even more to really feel that punkiness.
21:56Mmm, fun.
21:57So good.
21:58I'm hoping the judges are seeing a little bit of wearability with this, and also just a fun edginess.
22:12Like, was it being a little gal, yeah, I don't know, you know.
22:15Mmm.
22:16So strong.
22:17My first collection, I feel real proud about it.
22:21You should.
22:22You should.
22:23Oh, my God.
22:24It's wonderful.
22:25She's loving it.
22:26Ooh!
22:27Ooh!
22:28Ooh!
22:29Ooh!
22:30Baby!
22:31Baby, that's Sparkle City.
22:32Looks like liquid metal.
22:33Yeah!
22:34Yeah!
22:35Yeah!
22:36Love.
22:37Love.
22:38Love.
22:39Is that the sun from our city?
22:42Yeah.
22:43Is that the pop setalter?
22:44Where are the pills at about obvious?
22:45Yes.
22:46Like, you know.
22:47Love.
22:48undefined
22:49Like, you go.
22:50Maybe you go, Ferret the snowman.
22:51Ooh!
22:52Ah, Kay catch it.
22:53Smells康.
22:54Yeah,.
22:55Ooh, baby!
23:04Oh, wow. That's so fun.
23:18It's fun. It's fashion. It's camp. I'm really excited to show that off and show off something
23:38weird that's going to make you smile. Wow. I really wanted to sell Scottish at certain points
23:50and sell Chinese at certain points. This one makes me feel proud to be Chinese. If you
23:58look in the mouth, there's some red tartan in there, too. I think I can not smile.
24:08I can't see this. Oh, it's great. I literally just feel the most confident I've ever felt
24:18seeing this come down the runway. I'm so happy I'm ending off with this leather gown because
24:24it just feels like a culmination of everything. This is costuming, and it is campy, but it
24:31is also high fashion. It's my first collection, and it's screaming Leland. Like, not a little
24:49whisper, baby. It's shouting my name. I love all you guys. Come on. Come on. Thank you.
25:01Oh, you bring it in, everybody. Oh. Thank you so much. Thank you. I'm so proud of them
25:15all. They did so well. Amazing. Yeah, we did it. It was unexpected, and I loved it. It was
25:24breathtaking. I almost fainted. I love it when clothes speak to me, shouting at me to say,
25:30like, Kirk, I need you to be wearing my collection right now, so I got really excited with that.
25:35All the designers had pieces that really made us smile, and the judges are going to have really
25:42tough decisions to make tonight. I can't believe we're done.
25:46I can. I'm so tired.
25:48Tonight, the three of you proved that you are the best of the best in this competition.
26:01I know there has to be one winner. I know that. But this was so good from all of you.
26:06All your collections were amazing. Seeing the way all three of you have grown through all this
26:10competition has truly blown me away. Congratulations. You really touched us all.
26:15Let's bring out your models.
26:27Charles, how are you feeling right now? Very nice.
26:31We asked you to show us new silhouettes, and you delivered. That bow dress was a real
26:36wow moment for me. It was very old Hollywood.
26:40Well, I really wanted to take things that were, like, traditionally evening wear, and then add
26:45sport wear elements into those. And then take things that were traditionally street wear,
26:52and then make those more evening. And even within here, this is, like, a neoprene sport material,
26:57which I combined. People get confused. They think it's a dress or actually pants.
27:00I like the first three looks the most. I thought they were really well made. Do I think there could
27:07be some refinements? Yes. Some of the accessorizing was a bit distracting to your work. But what's very
27:13important is that you realize the importance of leaning into your vulnerability.
27:17This is the collection where it just flowed right through me. Those last few pieces, I was like, wow,
27:24they are so well executed. I could see those pieces in a couture show, and it's refreshing. And I was like,
27:32well, if he can do that, what else can he do? So much more. So, so proud of you. Thank you so much.
27:39I totally agree, Anne. One of my favorite looks, I would say, was the dress with the pink necktie.
27:43It seemed like you flirted with color. Well, I just really wanted it very balanced. And I wanted
27:50that one color I used to be very important. It's referring to my mom. Pink is her favorite color.
27:57Watching her tearing up was, I'm sure, a big deal for you, that she was so proud.
28:05Your heart is in every stitch of it, obviously. Is there anything you would have changed looking back?
28:13It's really hard to tell a full story in 10 pieces, but I think I did my absolute best. And I'm very
28:19proud of what I've done. Congratulations on an amazing collection. Thank you. Curtis. Hello.
28:27I wither and then bite. Why? Explain it. This was really centered around my journey with fear,
28:35not only through this competition, but through my entire life. You kind of have to go through these
28:40sort of transformations and rebirths to step into something that's been waiting for you the whole
28:45time. Truly, what came down the runway was 10 different, like, versions of myself. I really
28:50have appreciated the way you've been able to contrast gender and create something that is
28:56unconventional. This look is sort of my take on a suit of armor, and it's something that demands
29:03attention. It's confident. It's bold. It's a little cheeky. It's risky. And it's really everything that
29:08I've turned into throughout this whole experience. I always love the stories that you tell, and your
29:14attention to detail is great. I know, like, we've had a lot of discussions about corsets. Maybe we
29:19shouldn't be doing so many corsets, but at the end of the day, you know, they really work with what you
29:24do. I nurture corsetry, and it's something that's always going to be that pulse of my creativity.
29:29But my opening look was very intentional, where the corset was unbound. You're so good at
29:34craftsmanship. You know how to create something, and I know every choice you make has a reason,
29:42and I love that. There was something daring about the way you incorporated the sportiness,
29:47the shoulder pads, with the drapery. The coat for me was amazing, and then the little, like, kind of
29:53bustle or crinoline pop in the back. Yeah, I definitely wear that. Fabulous.
29:58Going to this competition, I think we knew that we were going to get historical references,
30:02and we were asking you to push it into something that was modern, and I think you did that today.
30:09Obviously, the historical element is always going to inform things, but I pushed myself quite far
30:13with, like, some of the silhouettes that I played with and the materials.
30:16Playing with different materials is great, but I think it was a little bit awkward.
30:20You don't really want to see that struggle physically on the runway.
30:25I agree. I think the tin fabric kind of went a bit too far.
30:28It's a fine balance, but, you know, I love your work, and I thought this was a nice evolution.
30:34Thank you, Curtis.
30:35Thank you for all your kind words.
30:37Leland, how you feeling?
30:39Oh, my God, like, on cloud nine right now.
30:41I never thought that I would be here.
30:44It's been incredible to really explore these sides of myself.
30:48We were unsure of if you could create ideas without someone giving you a specific idea.
30:56This was a strong look.
30:58This was one where you were not playing around.
31:01We got to see who you were as a designer, who you are as a person.
31:04I'll say, like, this is probably my favorite piece in the collection,
31:07but the drive and the creativeness was just flowing through me.
31:12I quite enjoyed your collection.
31:14I thought it was fun.
31:15You started with the bang, right?
31:17Look three, less.
31:19I like the cross between the biker jacket and the bomber, yes,
31:22but if that was amped up way bigger in proportion,
31:26it would match the energy of what you were showing.
31:29This show was a roller coaster.
31:30There was highs and there was lows.
31:32Like the Diamante tank top, that was one of the looks I wasn't a fan of.
31:36You know, I didn't really understand where it made sense in the collection as a whole.
31:41Here's my thing.
31:41I think everyone had fillers, to be honest.
31:43There was a few fillers for everyone.
31:45However, I have to say, when you came out and was like,
31:48I just want fun.
31:49Me too.
31:50The dragon made me smile.
31:52Aw.
31:53It was a little tacky, but I don't think that's bad.
31:56And that in itself means something.
31:59You really have brought me personally a lot of joy.
32:03And I have to say, that dress, wow.
32:08I've been to some of the most incredible couture shows in the world.
32:13And I was like right up there.
32:15Good job.
32:16That was a great way to end it.
32:19Thank you, designers.
32:20And congratulations again.
32:22This won't be an easy decision.
32:25The three of you may leave the runway one last time.
32:30Thanks so much.
32:30Bye.
32:30See you now.
32:31Bye.
32:33Oh, my gosh.
32:38What a crazy time, eh?
32:39What a day.
32:42I can't even comprehend what's going to happen after this for me and for all of us.
32:48I guess our fate is in the hands of the judges now.
32:50I am so impressed with those designers.
32:56They put on a show for us.
32:57I'm so proud of them.
32:59I love that we saw three very different opinions on fashion.
33:04That was a lot of work.
33:06Right?
33:07They pushed themselves.
33:08Well, I think there's no doubt that all three have great potential.
33:13When it comes to Charles, I was impressed off the bat.
33:17Look one, two, and three.
33:18I thought they were great.
33:20Sporty.
33:20It felt like him.
33:22It looks like him.
33:23I mean, technically savvy.
33:24But then when it got further into the middle, when we saw the pink, we started to be softened.
33:30That splash of pink.
33:31I love that pink gown.
33:33And he went someplace he never went before.
33:35We did ask for different silhouettes.
33:37The big bow.
33:38I'm going to wear that one day.
33:40That's why I really appreciate what Charles has created.
33:42Charles knows who he is.
33:44His clothes usually look like armor.
33:46And we still got that armor today.
33:47But there was a lightness to it, you know?
33:49It felt strong, but also delicate.
33:53One of the highlights for me was he told us a really beautiful and personal story.
33:57It really did feel like a love letter.
33:58But I think if he pared it down a little bit more, I think it would have been better.
34:02I understand the cultural aspect of it, the reference in Vietnam.
34:05But to me, a bit literal with the hats, it leaned to costuming for me.
34:10Okay, let's talk about Curtis.
34:14Curtis knows fashion.
34:16And I think he has the potential to really go far.
34:19And I could see this new version of him.
34:22There's the sequins.
34:23There's the mermaid shape.
34:25There's the lacing.
34:26There were some really interesting pieces and really interesting, compelling looks.
34:32And the fact that he really gave us these separates that you could maybe wear in your own whimsical way.
34:40I loved that t-shirt.
34:41That t-shirt could be very commercial.
34:43You know, that's something I can see in the stores.
34:45You know what my favorite was?
34:46The coat.
34:47It was, for me, very digestible.
34:50Yeah, I actually thought, like, I'd wear that.
34:52Exactly.
34:53I thought the coat, if it was cinched with a very tight corset, it would have been sexier.
34:58To me, that jacket wasn't done right.
35:00Where it flared out in the back did not flare out in the right spot.
35:04It was too low.
35:05That is an issue.
35:09And then Leland.
35:10I think Leland's collection brought so much joy to the runway.
35:14I really was amazed by this.
35:16It's not necessarily my taste, but I was interested.
35:21First look had, like, you know, it gives me a little galliana almost, you know?
35:24Look one was amazing.
35:25I think that was a great way to, like, set the tone.
35:27But then I think there was some parts of the collection that felt maybe more pedestrian.
35:33Look one's a high.
35:34Look two is interesting.
35:36Look three for me, you know?
35:37Look two interesting?
35:38Those two first looks I could see on Cardi B.
35:41The best designers that I've ever seen have a little sass.
35:45And it's nice to finally smile at something.
35:48Those outfits just made you want to scream with joy.
35:52That dragon dress was hilarious.
35:54We've been telling him, you know, don't do the costumes, and there were still a couple of costumes in there, no question.
36:00But it's almost like he couldn't resist it.
36:02And I actually got teary-eyed when that last magnificent ball gown came out,
36:07because I thought that was the most incredible kind of, you know, punk ball gown that I've ever seen.
36:14And I've seen a lot of them.
36:15Yeah, you know, I think I agree.
36:17The last look for me was one of my favorites.
36:20I think it was a great way to end the show.
36:21This reminded me why I fell in love with fashion in the first place.
36:27I'm so blown away by each and every one of them.
36:31They all really prove that they are willing to go the distance.
36:37I mean, this is the hardest it's been this whole season.
36:40So proud of all of them.
36:42This is so difficult.
36:44So do we have a consensus?
36:49Let's bring out the designers.
36:54Designers, your collections were bold, surprising, and deeply personal.
37:01And honestly, you blew us all away.
37:08Charles, your craftsmanship is unmatched.
37:13But it's your distinct aesthetic that brought you to this moment.
37:18Your collection was a love letter to your family.
37:21And I can say sincerely, it's the best work we've seen from you.
37:29Curtis, you're a master storyteller.
37:33You seamlessly blend history with a boundary-pushing attitude.
37:38You've been a strong competitor from the start.
37:40And this was one of your most exciting chapters yet.
37:44Leland, drag, costume, camp.
37:52You challenged many labels throughout this competition.
37:55But your integrity as a designer always stayed intact.
38:01Your collection proves that there isn't a box big enough to put you in.
38:06You are a fashion designer.
38:08Oh.
38:09The winner of a feature spread in Elle Canada magazine
38:16from TD, a career-launching investment of $100,000.
38:24And the title of Canada's next great fashion designer
38:31is...
38:39Leland.
38:49Oh, my...
38:50Oh, my God!
38:58We did it!
38:59Oh, my God!
39:04Oh, my God!
39:04Oh, my God!
39:05Oh, my God!
39:05Baby, I won Project Runway Canada.
39:12I'm a fashion designer!
39:16Oh, Jeannie, bring it in here.
39:18I love you so much.
39:19Oh, my God!
39:20I literally cannot believe that, like, it all happened.
39:24Oh!
39:28Mom!
39:30This moment means so much to me.
39:32It shows that people need joy right now.
39:34And if I can be this mascot for some joy, baby, I'm down.
39:39I came in here, like, as a costume designer through and through.
39:44I have learned so much and experienced so many incredible things
39:48that when Coco says,
39:51because you are a fashion designer,
39:54it really, really hits home,
39:57because it's true.
40:01Woo!
40:01Woo!
40:07Aww.
