01:08Did you grow up here?
01:09Is that the story or what happened?
01:11So Owen actually grew up just down the road at Bathurst.
01:14Okay.
01:15I grew up near Port Macquarie, so very different kind of climate.
01:18We originally met here when we were both living in Sydney.
01:22Both moved back to Sydney, started dating.
01:24And before we knew it, everyone was saying Genevieve would never get me out of Sydney.
01:28And six months later we were moving out here.

01:38Newlyweds.
01:39Newlyweds with the bub on the way.
01:41We moved here from Sydney.
01:42We've been renting in Orange for about three years.
01:45We're really ready to settle down on a bit more land.
01:48It's our country escape and we certainly want to raise a family here.
01:53What we love about Orange is there is a lot available.
01:57There's great restaurants.
01:59We've got lots of friends and family here.
02:02We're currently working with a budget of around 2.5.
02:06What we're looking for is a place to call our own.
02:09The core things we're looking for is, you know, family space, open space, light.
02:14Places where we can have family and friends and entertain them, but also have as our own home retreat.
02:19Space is the big one for us.
02:21More land to have the kids grow up on.
02:25Orange is located just a few hours drive west of Sydney, right in the heart of New South Wales.
02:37This vibrant town is famous for its yummy food and wine scene showcasing cool climate wines and fresh local produce.
02:47It is also renowned for its charming heritage buildings and stunning natural landscapes.

02:54Whether Genevieve and Owen are looking for a relaxed lifestyle, excellent schools or amazing food and shopping, Orange, trust me, it has it all.
03:04Tell me, what do you think of this property? What are your first impressions?
03:12I'm loving the look of the gardens.

03:15I think it's really lovely.
03:16We're on about 12 acres.
03:18It's obviously a beautiful garden.
03:20You know, we both love spending time in the garden.
03:23The extensive gardens and the space is just great.
03:29Certainly a lot more than we expected.
03:31The character of the house is quite creative but peaceful.

04:01How amazing is this entertaining space?
04:03So, it's a relatively new build.
04:06It's not even 10 years old.
04:08There's five bedrooms, one of which is used as a massive open bar entertaining space, which you can see.
04:15This open living space, I think, is quite remarkable.
04:18The kitchen is a falcon oven, a gas and electric oven.
04:22Looks amazing.
04:23I love that big space and, yeah, lots of prep space, which is lovely.
04:28This is the only home that I've ever been able to say, not only is there a butler's pantry, there is a walk-in commercial freezer.

04:41Obviously, a big part of the entertainment space.
04:44I love the cool room.
04:46Walking into the house and seeing the entertaining space and the area, being able to host, it was really impressive and really ticked a big box for us.

06:24Loving the garden, certainly can make it your own but it's already set up really beautifully.

06:30What you can also subtly hear is the spring fed creek that goes through your property.

09:32The first thing we thought about was entertaining, but this is more about, you know, this is like family space.

09:38Look, I think that would be first cab off the rank.
09:42If we were to move in is probably making it a little bit larger, but it's, yeah, it's great for straight away.

09:59You can see people have lived in here and, you know, similar to some of the homes we've been in growing up.

11:35I'd say a little bit less around 2.3, around there.

12:06Well, I am fortunate enough to be in Orange today, helping newlyweds Genevieve and Owen find the perfect country home.
12:29We've already checked out two properties with loads of space.
12:34One is an entertainer's dream and the second had a really cosy family feel.
12:39Now this last option, it's slightly more modern and it has loads more land, which could be exactly what they've been looking for.

12:49It's a relatively new build, probably the newest of the homes that we're going to show you.
12:54But this is on the biggest plot of land, about 32 acres.
12:58But most of it is this magnificent view that I'll take you to out the back.
13:04And that is the way this house has been designed to maximise this lovely view.
13:09It is so quiet.
13:10And yet we're 10 minutes from town.
13:12Coming in, it's that preconceptions about that new build, look and feel.
13:16It's certainly not our style, but because there isn't established gardens or anything like that, it's all potential.

13:23To add our own little flair to it if we wanted to.

13:58We've certainly had a kind of farm home style that we've been looking for,
14:02but it's certainly different and I'm liking looking at different things.
14:06When you walk into the house, it's a very different experience from the exterior.
14:10You're immediately drawn out to that view.

15:42the first thing you notice not the new bricks or the fittings or anything like
15:46that the cosmetic changes can be made okay what do you think it's on the
15:50market for hmm I'd say more than house number two I was actually thinking 1.9
15:55but that might be way off it's actually at the moment 2.8 all right yeah but
16:01it's just hit the market I may have low-balled it a little bit in the
16:05estimation but I think for the amount of land it's very fair and you know having
16:09five bedrooms the space is plenty there's plenty of amenities it's it's
16:14pretty fair for what it is yeah three very different houses things that we
16:19love and don't love in all three houses so yeah we have hard tasks ahead of us
16:26while Genevieve and Owen take their time contemplating the options that we have
16:39checked out I have a little bit of time on my hand for a little bit of shopping I've
16:44managed to run into former mayor Jason and we had a chat about how incredible his
16:49hometown is Jason it's so lovely to meet you thank you for meeting me in this
16:55beautiful space to sing the praises of your gorgeous town I'm overwhelmed by the
17:01business success of orange I mean I could talk about this store alone how did it
17:05get to to where it is now where you are the success story of all country towns I
17:10think entrepreneurs like Pip who opened this store and took a gamble we've had
17:15we've had a lot of those in town and the gambles paid off and it's made orange at
17:19destination when I first came here it was to talk about the apple orchards and
17:25they slowly evolved into being the wineries but I do tend to find that the
17:29community here is very very supportive of each other well they are and as you
17:33said you know we were an apple and cherry growing town and now we've evolved
17:37into this food and wine destination with amazing vineyards and amazing
17:41restaurants on our doorsteps I'm just so lucky to live in a town like this and
17:45bring my family up in a town like this there's opportunities for employment
17:49there's opportunities for sport there's so many opportunities in orange wow you
17:53should be the mayor oh my goodness you are you're very proud of the beauty of this
17:59town too aren't you oh we are you know we we get the four seasons in spring and
18:03autumn the colors we're known as the color city the trees just go this magical
18:07color and you see people out taking photos in front of them it's fantastic and then in
18:11summer we get our visitors up here and we have amazing cherries at Christmas time
18:15so we get a lot of foodies coming up and I'm trying all our produce I invite
18:19everyone to come and experience orange you'll be amazed well I'm going to go
18:24and have a raid of the shop thank you for bringing us here it's absolutely
18:27gorgeous no problems at all
18:30after some time discussing the options I have just heard from our couple that a
18:40decision has been made so we are catching up again so I can hear the big news
18:46thank you for meeting me here because I'm slightly obsessed with this door when we talk about those
19:02three houses is there one of the three that we can cut out straight away yeah for me it was probably
19:08number one it didn't quite have that homely feel that it was big wasn't it yeah it
19:15was a beautiful house but I just don't think it really was our style we'll
19:21definitely take on the idea of having a cool room inside your house so that
19:27leads us to two and three so how did you feel about those three we
19:31definitely agreed that the look of the house was just a bit too new for us you
19:37said that you liked an older home didn't you yeah definitely yes that was a
19:41really impressive house and that was the one with the pool pool was a really big tick
19:47for me I really liked that about house number three but does that leave us with
19:51house number two yeah so house number two we well what's the word you had said it
19:59was a dream of yours to always have house orchard space is that right yeah it
20:05was kind of like had land that you've got you know a little backyard with an
20:10orchard there's interesting parts of it which obviously we change over time but
20:14that'll be great for babies really lovely for babies yes well I wish you all the

20:25think the next step is put in an offer yeah house number two well that is
