TMC opens new ward for poor Filipinos

The Medical City (TMC) Ortigas launched a 55-bed ward on Monday to expand access to health care for poor patients. Dr. Ruben Kasala, CEO of TMC Ortigas, said the Dr. Alfredo R.A. Bengzon Patient Access Ward was named after the late president of TMC and former Health secretary who championed healthcare access to all Filipinos. PhilHealth President and CEO Edwin Mercado highlighted the importance of expanding hospital capacity to improve access to healthcare and reduce patients’ out-of-pocket expenses.
