00:00:44Welcome to our family.
00:00:49Getting to watch these kids chase their dreams.
00:00:52I feel really proud of where we're at as judges and with the talent that's come in.
00:00:57The moment of truth.
00:00:59The part I see on TV.
00:01:02Last day of auditions.
00:01:04Another beautiful day in Nashville.
00:01:06Searching for talent.

00:01:15I can't even talk.
00:01:18And now I'm going to start crying.

00:01:27We have to take a picture with the five.
00:01:29There you go.
00:01:29American Idol.
00:01:34I remember like the season finale of American Idol was like Christmas.
00:01:38I couldn't sleep the night before.
00:01:45I was so excited to watch it.
00:01:46And so this is like a dream come true.
00:01:49Seriously.
00:01:50Ready to go.
00:01:52And away we go.
00:01:54Don't hold it back.
00:01:56Hey.
00:01:58All right.
00:01:58What's your name?
00:01:59Who are you?
00:01:59Where you from?

00:02:07I am an American Idol super fan.
00:02:10Ah.
00:02:11I can't believe I'm here.
00:02:12Have you ever auditioned before?
00:02:13No.
00:02:14I haven't.
00:02:14Why'd you wait?
00:02:15I know.
00:02:16It should have been sooner.
00:02:17Well, good deal.
00:02:18What are you going to sing?
00:02:19I'm going to sing Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin.
00:02:22Ooh.

00:02:23Big shoes.
00:02:24I love it.

00:02:28Looking out on the morning rain I used to feel so uninspired
00:02:40But when I knew I had to face another day Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
00:02:48It made me feel so tired Before the day I met you Life was so unkind But you're the key
00:03:00to my peace of mind
00:03:03Cause you make me feel You make me feel You make me feel like a natural woman

00:04:16Goodness.
00:04:16I can't believe we have not seen you in this room until now.
00:04:21I think you kinda read Luke's mind, he was like, can she hit the U in her chest voice, and
00:04:26then you did.
00:04:27You did it.
00:04:27In my opinion, you did a lot of amazing things in that performance just then.
00:04:32You got some pipes, for sure, which, that's your whole goal, is to come in and, like, show us what
00:04:37you got.
00:04:38A little trouble laying in the plane, but we were flying high, so it really didn't matter,
00:04:42because you did enough throughout the rest of the song, great voice.
00:04:47Thank you so much.
00:04:47Love your choices.
00:04:50You took Aretha, turned it upside down, and made it yours.
00:04:53I think it was just brilliant.
00:04:56Very, very good.
00:04:57Thank you so much.
00:04:58Thank you guys.
00:04:59What does it mean for you to be here right now, to finally be here?

00:05:05My whole family's here.
00:05:06My dad, um, actually suffered from a stroke a year ago, a severe one.
00:05:12I almost lost him, and he's here with me right now.
00:05:16Wow.
00:05:17She's just worked so hard to get there, and I'm so proud of her work.
00:05:24Oh, man.

00:05:32So, it's really crazy that we're here.

00:07:13How beautiful is this, guys?
00:07:15Last year and the year before, we kept saying,
00:07:18you can't beat it, you can't beat it.
00:07:19And we did.
00:07:20It is so exciting, because we don't know what to expect.
00:07:24You never do.
00:07:24I can't tell you.
00:07:25There are human beings that the world and us doesn't know
00:07:28take us on an emotional ride, too.
00:07:30And also, I think we kind of recognize in the stories...
00:07:35just how blessed we are.
00:07:36You know, because when you get into the lives
00:07:38of some of these beautiful people,
00:07:40we learn that the struggles are very different.
00:07:44Yo, yo, yo!
00:07:45Yo, yo, yo!
00:07:47Left turn, left turn!
00:07:48Left turn!
00:07:49Howdy.
00:07:50How are you guys doing?
00:07:51We're doing good.
00:07:52What is your name, sir?
00:07:54I am Moore.
00:07:55Moore what?
00:07:56Moore Ilderton.
00:07:57Ilderton.
00:07:57How can I have some more of nothing?
00:07:59I know what you're doing there.
00:08:00Is that a family name?
00:08:01Uh, so my real name is Clarence Morton Ilderton IV,
00:08:04so we just cut Morton in half.
00:08:06Thank goodness.
00:08:06That's way too long.
00:08:06I like it.
00:08:07Yeah, I would hate to be called Clarence.
00:08:09No offense to any Clarences.
00:08:10Where are you from?
00:08:11I'm from Taze Valley, West Virginia.
00:08:13Born and raised there.
00:08:14And I'm 22 years old.
00:08:16Tell us a little bit about yourself.
00:08:18Goodness.
00:08:18I was raised by my grandma.
00:08:21Um, I've had a great childhood.
00:08:23And the fact that I'm here right now,
00:08:25it's freaking awesome.
00:08:26I'm really excited.
00:08:27So good.
00:08:28Since I was two years old,
00:08:30I was put into full custody with my grandma,
00:08:32and I grew up calling her mom.
00:08:36She is an amazing woman.
00:08:39I mean, I was a mischievous kid.
00:08:41I put her through so much.
00:08:45Whoever I am reaches back to her always.
00:08:48He was a kicker on the football team in high school.
00:08:51He played basketball.
00:08:52And then all of a sudden,
00:08:54he started playing the guitar.
00:08:56He taught himself.
00:08:57He's just really good.
00:08:58He's very talented.
00:09:04She made my life feel so normal
00:09:06and sacrificed so much for me.
00:09:09She's my rock.
00:09:11Does he know that you're here?
00:09:12No.
00:09:14When he left,
00:09:15I told him I was really sorry I couldn't be there for him.
00:09:18And he said,
00:09:19I understand.
00:09:20And I just think that it was important to him.
00:09:25And I'm...
00:09:28I'm going to cry.
00:09:30And I think I really want to be there for him.
00:09:33What are you going to be singing for us today?
00:09:35I am singing a song,
00:09:37a very meaningful song.
00:09:38I wrote it.
00:09:40It's called Strong.
00:09:41And I lost my biological mom
00:09:44when I was two years old.
00:09:45My dad ended my mom's life.
00:09:48Oh.
00:09:50It's about seeing my mom's picture for the first time
00:09:52and not knowing her
00:09:53and just kind of looking at a stranger
00:09:55and just pouring out my emotions of that
00:09:57through this song.
00:10:09Take your time.
00:10:11Take your time.
00:10:12Take your time.
00:10:13You're all good.
00:10:14Ali.
00:10:15Take your time.
00:10:16Hey, look up.
00:10:19It's all good, baby.
00:10:20We're here.
00:10:21I know.
00:10:21All good.
00:10:22...
00:10:23You lost it.
00:10:39I said a picture's worth a thousand words,
00:10:43but I only got a few
00:10:45When I looked down at that frame
00:10:49And I don't need to recognize
00:10:52Cuz you were taking from me years ago, so I never got to know
00:10:59I can only speak when I see your face
00:11:10Oh, oh
00:11:19It's between you looking and we wish you were
00:11:26My mom
00:11:34And I don't want to need you anymore. I don't want to bleed you anymore

00:15:13past
00:15:13You weren't all the way in control of it

00:22:23Man, I love your confidence.
00:22:25Yeah, right?
00:22:26It really means a lot.
00:22:27I mean, you went from a little Billy Joel with a guitar to Bon Jovi to Bryan Adams.
00:22:33I mean, but what I'm loving about all this is that it's fresh.
00:22:37You're checking some boxes for me.
00:22:38That's very kind.
00:22:39I appreciate it.
00:22:40Very cool voice.
00:22:41How long have you been performing?
00:22:44I started playing when I was nine.
00:22:45I picked up guitar then, and then roughly six months later, I played my first show and just sort of
00:22:49snowballed from there.
00:22:50As a nine-year-old, play your first show?
00:22:52Yeah.
00:22:53That's cool.
00:22:53That's cool.
00:22:54You can tell you've been playing.
00:22:56You can tell you were comfortable with the guitar.
00:22:58I'm excited for you.

00:23:25That's very kind of you.
00:23:26Thank you guys so much.
00:23:27It means the world.

00:23:32Thank you guys again.
00:23:33It really means a lot.
00:23:35No, he's really good.
00:23:37Very poised.
00:23:38Yes.
00:23:39Thank you very much.
00:23:40Thank you guys so much.
00:23:42Have a great day.
00:23:43It was a great time.
00:23:44I mean, I'm so grateful for the opportunity.
00:23:46We know you're going to have a couple of ups and downs today.
00:23:48It's going to be a little on and off your game.
00:23:50But I'll be pulling for you.
00:23:51Yeah.
00:23:52Have a nice day.
00:23:54Yeah.
00:23:55You look great.
00:23:56Yeah.
00:23:57Love it.
00:23:59How we doing?
00:24:00Good.
00:24:00All right.
00:24:01Loving the shirt.
00:24:02The shirt choice.
00:24:03Got my area coat back on it.
00:24:04Oh, come on.
00:24:05Come on.
00:24:06All right.
00:24:07Well, tell us who you are.
00:24:08My name is Landon Hughes.
00:24:09I'm from Hazard, Kentucky.
00:24:10I'm 19 years old and I'm a college soccer player as well.
00:24:13College soccer player.
00:24:15Yes, sir.
00:24:15What college are you at?
00:24:16I'm at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio.
00:24:18Are you enjoying doing that?
00:24:19I'll be God's honest.
00:24:20I had a...
00:24:21I'll be God's honest.
00:24:22You've got to be somewhere from Kentucky to go God's honest.
00:24:25Yeah.
00:24:26To be honest, I love it.
00:24:27You know, I didn't think going up there would be as much of a life-changing experience as
00:24:30it is, but it kind of made me re-fall in love with music.
00:24:34Crooked the road and the wind...
00:24:38As Appalachians, we have a very unique experience in life, but I used to hate home when I was growing
00:24:43up.
00:24:44You know, after coal crashed, you know, a lot of stuff was taken away and I was the first generation
00:24:48really experienced as a hazard with not a lot.
00:24:51When I first moved out of Kentucky, I started playing college soccer and, you know, I started
00:24:56missing home.
00:24:56Tell me why did you run?
00:24:59Obviously, being from Southeast Kentucky, bluegrass is our genre.
00:25:02And I started listening to the old albums, you know, and every time I hear it, it transforms
00:25:05me back to the mountains.
00:25:07Whether I'm in Cleveland or Nashville, it really transforms me back home.
00:25:13You know, listening to Bluegrass really made me realize that I took Appalachia for advantage
00:25:16for many years when I lived there.
00:25:18And now I've changed.
00:25:19I'm here 100% to represent Appalachia.
00:25:22When I play the music, that's the sound of home.
00:25:24When they see me, that's the look of home.
00:25:26And I walk with it every day.
00:25:27You know, I carry dirt from home on my boots.
00:25:29I carry home with me and I carry here to American Idol because I'm proud of it.
00:25:33You go in there and show them with this small town, Eastern Kentucky boy.
00:25:38Hazard Kentucky.
00:25:39Woo-hoo!
00:25:40Let's go get it.
00:25:41I genuinely appreciate this audition more than a lot of people ever know.
00:25:44And I'm going out here to pick it, pick it fast, sing it loud.
00:25:48Hopefully it has an impact on them.
00:25:57Oh, we understand.
00:26:04Little Maggie with a drink glass in her hand.
00:26:08She's drinking away all the troubles.
00:26:11And she's caught in another man.
00:26:19Lay down your last gold dollar.
00:26:22Lay down your gold watch and chain.
00:26:25Little Maggie's gonna dance with daddy.
00:26:28Listen to this old guitar ring.
00:26:36Go away, go away.
00:26:43Little Maggie.
00:26:45Go and do the best that you can.
00:26:48I'm gonna get me another woman.
00:26:51If you can get you another man.
00:26:54Wow.
00:26:55There you go.
00:26:58Yeah.
00:26:59Thank you very much.
00:27:00I appreciate it.
00:27:03You make me happy.
00:27:05Okay, I have one for real question.
00:27:09So in this competition, we do Rock Hall of Fame.
00:27:13We do Disney night.
00:27:14We throw things at you.
00:27:16We want you to be you.
00:27:18Can you be you in other genres?
00:27:23I think I can do about every genre.
00:27:24I love music all across the board.
00:27:26Not just bluegrass because where I'm from, but I love every bit of music.
00:27:29You're old school that you can be.
00:27:31I like your vibe.
00:27:32I just want to make sure that you understand in that character that you have of your voice.
00:27:37You're going to have to take us on that journey where we don't get too comfortable knowing what you're going
00:27:42to do.
00:27:43You're going to have to kind of guide us through it.
00:27:45Vocally, I'm a little skeptical.
00:27:48There was some stuff you did at the end where you had a little vibrato in there and it was
00:27:51really nice.
00:27:52So I think you're still exploring a lot with your voice.
00:27:57I feel like you deserve a chance to prove yourself.
00:28:01Ooh.
00:28:02But if you should make it through, you're going to have to work on your delivery and pulling us in
00:28:06and some of the softer tones just really emoting.
00:28:11It's a yes for me.
00:28:13I would like to see what you do.
00:28:15Thank you very much.
00:28:16I really appreciate that.
00:28:18I really am just going on faith.
00:28:21It's a yes for me.
00:28:24I do think you may have a little bit of an uphill climb with some of these voices in this
00:28:28competition, but there's only one way you can learn.
00:28:32He's riding that wind somewhere and looking...
00:28:35Yes for me.
00:28:36Oh my God.
00:28:38You don't know.
00:28:44This means the world to me.
00:28:47For so long, I was afraid of kind of exploring who I was and where I was from.
00:28:52And up...
00:28:55You know, I can finally be who I am.
00:28:58And be proud of it, you know.
00:29:00Don't be afraid.
00:29:03I'm home.
00:29:04Thank you so much.
00:29:07You got it.
00:29:10You got it, man.
00:29:11You're going to Hollywood, we.
00:29:17I think he scared himself.
00:29:19We said, yes, yes, yes.
00:29:21He just went, what?
00:29:23You sure?
00:29:24You sure you're talking to me?
00:29:26I know my audition wasn't perfect, but I appreciate you giving me the confidence that I need.
00:29:31And giving me the ability to, you know, change my life.
00:29:36This has my heart.
00:29:37You know, it's everything.
00:29:39I end up.
00:29:40I'm very proud to take this ticket back home.
00:29:47Belmont's pretty nice, huh?
00:29:48This is one of the most beautiful campuses I've ever checked out.
00:29:51Classes in session.
00:29:53Bring on the talent.
00:29:54Hello.
00:29:55How are you?
00:29:56Good, how are you?
00:29:57What's happening?
00:29:58What's up, guys?
00:29:59With the theme of Idle University this year, it's been fun.
00:30:02But kind of do some teaching.
00:30:04Who are you?
00:30:05Landon McGraw.
00:30:06I'm from Wheelersburg, Ohio.
00:30:07Learned to play guitar from kind of a, I probably shouldn't say this to everybody,
00:30:10but I lied to a bunch of girls that I could play guitar and sing.
00:30:14Well, you lied, but then you made it right.
00:30:16So that makes it okay, right?
00:30:18We end up being professors, too.
00:30:21Our hopefuls, our students.
00:30:23You've been here seven years longer than me.
00:30:28Don't you know you're supposed to be the man?
00:30:33All right, do you sing happy birthday that way?
00:30:36Happy birthday to you.
00:30:41I should.
00:30:42We're not here to tear them down.
00:30:44We're here to inspire them.
00:30:45I pray.
00:30:48Pray I'm not out on my own.
00:30:52Sometimes the growl was needed, and sometimes you didn't have to have the growl.
00:30:56Yeah.
00:30:57You're telling right in the middle of the story, and you're going,
00:30:59and I'm going, okay, that was a hemorrhoid.
00:31:02I guess I can't use that one.
00:31:05Did he just say hemorrhoids?
00:31:07That is a visual.
00:31:08In the music world, you kind of have to be ready all the time to sing.
00:31:12Sing happy birthday.
00:31:13Happy birthday, dear Luke.
00:31:17Happy birthday to you.
00:31:21That's already better than anything you've done.
00:31:24We just got to show it to you.
00:31:26Pray that we close all this distance between us, I pray.
00:31:32That's what you want all the way throughout that song.
00:31:35Sometimes just the simplest thing has them hanging on every word and every note.
00:31:40Yes for me.
00:31:40Thank you so much.
00:31:41I'm going to give you a big, giant yes.
00:31:44I'm only messing with you because I'm going to give you a yes if you work on it and get
00:31:48better.
00:31:50I'm a yes.
00:31:53I did it!
00:31:56It's ABC.
00:31:58Easy.
00:31:59Easy.
00:31:59Easy.
00:32:00Me and Carrie and Lionel, we don't miss any opportunity to teach them a few things.
00:32:05I never lost a wine way that I love you all.
00:32:13Ahhhhh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh.
00:32:20Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh.
00:32:28Bump.
00:32:31Keri, what do you think?
00:32:32You have a really great instrument.
00:32:34I felt like the piano was distracting me.
00:32:37Correct.
00:32:37I don't know what it was or if it was like the,
00:32:41drawing out certain notes or something
00:32:43and then getting back into some sort of rhythm
00:32:45on the piano, but I was like,
00:32:46I'm trying to follow,
00:32:48I'm trying to follow and I can't.
00:32:50I want to tap my toe and I can't do it.
00:32:52Do you gig out a lot?
00:32:53Is music paying the bills?
00:32:55I actually am a vocal coach
00:32:57at Destiny Music Studio.
00:32:59Ah, so you instill in the kids
00:33:02the confidence to be great singers
00:33:05and not be afraid of the stage?
00:33:07Yes, sir.
00:33:08I hope they see me up here too
00:33:09and see themselves in me
00:33:11and get inspired that they can do this too.
00:33:14Brenna, you are such an inspiration
00:33:16and your students are so proud of you
00:33:17and they wish that they could be here today.
00:33:19And they recorded a video.
00:33:21Oh my gosh, I'm going to cry.
00:33:25You can do this, Ms. Brana.
00:33:27I believe in you.
00:33:29Good luck, Ms. Brenna.
00:33:30We're so proud of you.
00:33:31I love you, Ms. Brenna,
00:33:33and I wish you the best of luck ever.
00:33:35Oh my gosh.
00:33:36I love Ms. Brenna!
00:33:40That is the best thing I've ever seen.
00:33:44My students mean the world to me.
00:33:46So many kids come in sharing their dreams with me
00:33:48and it feels like me being here shows that
00:33:50with part of work and never giving up,
00:33:52anything is possible.
00:33:53Do you have another song that you could do
00:33:55like sans piano?
00:33:57Yeah, I can do My Church by Maren Morris.
00:33:59Try to breathe and settle down.
00:34:04I've cussed on a Sunday
00:34:07I've cheated and I've lied I've fallen down from grace
00:34:13a few too many times But I find holy redemption
00:34:18When I put this car in drive Roll the windows down
00:34:24And turn up the dial
00:34:26Can I get a hallelujah?
00:34:31Can I get an amen?
00:34:33Feels like the Holy Ghost running through you
00:34:36When I play the highway bell
00:34:39I find my sorry father
00:34:42Singing every single verse
00:34:45Yeah, I guess that's my search
00:34:51That was better
00:34:52That was much better
00:34:53You have a huge range
00:34:55You can sing softly
00:34:57You can belt on the higher stuff
00:35:00Definitely feel like there needs to be
00:35:02some fine tuning here and there
00:35:04But I feel like you have one of the better voices
00:35:05that we have heard so far
00:35:07Thank you
00:35:08You're a vocal coach
00:35:10But I feel like if me and Lionel left
00:35:13and you and her had two hours
00:35:14when we'd come back
00:35:15you would be maybe 100% more of a dynamic singer
00:35:19You got all the tools vocally
00:35:21Yes, sir. Thank you
00:35:22I think there's so much promise
00:35:25I love your vibe
00:35:27It's a yes or mean
00:35:29That's one, that's one
00:35:31Make it two
00:35:32It's a yes card
00:35:33Oh, that's two
00:35:35Make it three
00:35:36All right
00:35:37Gives me great pleasure to say
00:35:39Woo-woo
00:35:40You're going to Hollywood Week
00:35:42Thank you
00:35:43Thank you
00:35:43Getting three yeses feels absolutely amazing
00:35:45This is the life I've always dreamed of for myself
00:35:48I've never wanted to be anything else but a singer
00:35:57Yeah, she's got a thing there
00:35:59You got a little stardust on her
00:36:01I can't wait for my students to see me on their TVs
00:36:04Like I really hope they just see themselves in me
00:36:07I'm going to Hollywood Week
00:36:08Woo-hoo

00:36:58You got a voice

00:38:42Thank you very much
00:38:42You drained it
00:38:43You know why?
00:38:44Because I'm the master of putt-putt
00:38:47How'd you like that?
00:38:48That was good
00:38:49Great putt
00:38:49Great speed

00:38:50Good line
00:38:51All right, let's just
00:38:51Let's do it
00:38:52Take charge of this, Lukey
00:38:56Yes
00:38:57I'm a yes
00:38:59You're on your way
00:39:00It's a yes

00:39:02Good job
00:39:04Thank you
00:39:08No one gives you credit for my putt-putt, man
00:39:09Come on
00:39:10You did good with that
00:39:11It was great
00:39:12Serious
00:39:12I'm going to Hollywood
00:39:14Woohoo
00:39:14Don't nobody but about me
00:39:24I've been through the desert
00:39:26And I've been across the sea
00:39:28My name is Bella Emery
00:39:29I'm 22 years old
00:39:30And I'm from Bend, Oregon
00:39:34Bend is beautiful
00:39:35Lots of trees
00:39:36Lots of nature
00:39:37We don't have as many
00:39:38Like big places to perform
00:39:40But that is the goal
00:39:42Rather than working
00:39:43Which I work all the time
00:39:47We are heading to Yoli
00:39:49The restaurant that I work at
00:39:52Service industry is not my dream
00:39:54But I feel proud of where I work
00:39:59I also work for my parents
00:40:03They own a concrete restoration business
00:40:06So Bella, can you make sure
00:40:07They get noticed
00:40:09No shade to my parents
00:40:10But I'd much rather be singing
00:40:15And I would love to make it in my life
00:40:22I've been watching Idol since I was a little kid
00:40:23Now I'm doing it
00:40:25I am the most nervous I think I have ever been in my whole life
00:40:29Singing is second nature to me
00:40:30But I do not perform for people
00:40:32So this could be life-changing
00:40:34Granddaddy went shine in East Tennessee
00:40:40Guess that's where I got my need for speed
00:40:44I sell it illegal to people numbing their pain
00:40:50I'm a little crazy but the world's insane
00:40:56And oh, once you get to know me
00:41:00I'm a coyote in a field of wolves
00:41:08And oh, I'm a red-led rebel
00:41:12Some become the devil
00:41:15When the moons fall
00:41:20Yeah, the only thing keeping these tracks on the train
00:41:25Knowing I'm a little crazy but the world's insane
00:41:33I'm a little crazy but the world's insane
00:41:43I'm a little crazy but the world's insane
00:41:57I'm a little crazy but the world's insane
00:42:01I'm a little crazy but the world's insane
00:42:02I'm a coyote in a field of wolves
00:42:07And oh, I'm a red-led rebel
00:42:12I'm a red-led rebel
00:42:13Some become the devil
00:42:15When the moons fall
00:42:19Yeah, the only thing keeping these tracks on the train
00:42:25Knowing I'm a little crazy but the world's insane
00:42:30Oh, I'm a little crazy but the world's insane
00:42:37Thank you!
00:42:40That was great!
00:42:42Thank you!
00:42:43I'm surprised to hear you say that you don't perform
00:42:48I actually don't really do anything like this
00:42:50My heart's beating really fast
00:42:53You seemed very comfortable just telling a story
00:42:57Nobody was breathing when you were singing
00:42:59Than just kind of hanging on every word with you
00:43:02So, well done
00:43:03Thank you
00:43:04Yeah, you're so raw and unpolished
00:43:08I wasn't expecting you to be able to really hold our attention like that
00:43:11I mean, you didn't hit a bad note
00:43:13You held the guitar together really, really well
00:43:16And you delivered that song in your own way
00:43:18Thank you
00:43:20When you walked out, Bella
00:43:22The first thing I said was
00:43:24Very cool vibe
00:43:27Thanks
00:43:27And when you finished singing, Bella
00:43:29I said
00:43:30Very cool vibe
00:43:32Idol universe has been waiting on you
00:43:34Thank you so much
00:43:35You are scholarship material, my dear
00:43:38And all I can say is
00:43:39If you're gonna hold that one time around

00:51:03I've always had the dream of being a singer
00:51:06I swim the river and the river
00:51:08And then you know I met my husband and we had a baby and with motherhood
00:51:14Yeah I just stopped singing
00:51:17Back to the mother that I belong
00:51:20And my husband would look at me and be like
00:51:22Why don't you sing again?
00:51:24Like why don't you do something for yourself?
00:51:26This is day one of me posting myself singing
00:51:30I decided to start singing again and it led me to here
00:51:35So
00:51:37You ready?
00:51:38Where did it go?

00:52:44For you to tie me up
00:52:46And never let me leave
00:52:50If we're honest
00:52:52It took the longest
00:52:55Time for you to even notice I was here
00:53:00You said you'd take me places
00:53:04Then you kept me waiting
00:53:07How the hell could I be so wrong
00:53:12But now I'm feeling dated
00:53:15I thought I was your favorite
00:53:18I believed in you for so long
00:53:23Maybe this time you hurt like I do
00:53:28You won't get no sympathy
00:53:31Cause I got none from you
00:53:34Couldn't make up your mind
00:53:37Mine's not confused
00:53:40Nothing left in me
00:53:42The one to leave a space for you
00:53:46Cause I'm not yours
00:53:49It's not the same as it was before
00:53:54Don't fantasize when you picture me
00:53:57When you close your eyes and I'm in your dreams
00:54:00Don't matter to hurt, don't matter to me
00:54:03Think I care, I know
00:54:05Maybe this time you hurt like I do
00:54:11You won't get no sympathy
00:54:14Cause I got none from you
00:54:16Couldn't make up your mind
00:54:19Mine's not confused
00:54:23Nothing left in me
00:54:25The one to leave a space for you
00:54:27So maybe this time
00:54:30Maybe this time
00:54:33Maybe this time
00:54:36You'll feel like I do
00:54:38It don't feel so good
00:54:44When it's your turning blue
00:54:55Oh, yeah
00:54:56Oh, yeah
00:54:56Oh, he's standing
00:54:57Oh, yeah
00:54:58Hey
00:54:58I have a lot of emotions today
00:55:01So I was fighting through that one
00:55:02Yeah. It's hard to find people with unique, unique sounds and unique qualities.
00:55:09You've got something amazing to work with, and if I can just hold you in place.
00:55:14I'm game.
00:55:15You know what I'm saying? Don't look over your shoulder. Just look in front of you.
00:55:19Yeah.
00:55:19Okay? The possibilities of you going forward in your life could be amazing.
00:55:25Okay. You have a really special voice.
00:55:27A lot of times when we get voices with that kind of texture, they can't hit the high notes like
00:55:34you did.
00:55:34Oh, thank you.
00:55:35When we give you confidence, because we can sense that it's not all there.
00:55:40I mean, I really think you can hit notes bigger than you are hitting.
00:55:45I can when I'm in my living room.
00:55:48Just get ready to go for it.
00:55:50Okay.
00:55:51Go for it all.
00:55:53Yeah.

00:56:13I'm feeling all the feelings right now.
00:56:16Just people like me don't get to come to places like this, so it feels emotional.

01:15:00yeah you can look in a rose just any rose except that it's perfect growing up in minnesota is the
01:15:11best like my childhood it was so fun and so simple my dad he studied opera and he was an
01:15:18opera singer and
01:15:19then became a pastor and a worship leader and my mom was a pianist my siblings we'd sing every holiday
01:15:24at
01:15:26church everything that we did was like together
01:15:34but it started to take a turn when i was 10 years old my mom was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis
01:15:40hi it was pretty aggressive how are you i'm good now right away my mom was in and out of
01:15:48the hospital
01:15:49she was four hours away my dad would be traveling back and forth trying to take care of our family
01:15:54he was gravity to us he's the strongest person i've ever met he was my best friend he was my
01:16:02kind of my foundation the person i turned to for advice
01:16:0612 years after my mom's diagnosis my dad was diagnosed with leukemia
01:16:15yeah that was the worst thing i've ever heard in my life like superman is no longer superman you know
01:16:26my siblings moved home to help me take care of them i mean all of us put life on hold
01:16:31but there was
01:16:32nothing else that we would have done like that was honestly the biggest gift for us to be close to
01:16:37them
01:16:41so i'm going to be singing lonely road that i wrote for dad love that i mean everyone says how
01:16:48much you
01:16:48look like dad and how much you resemble dad now especially with him being gone his legacy is now
01:16:55living through you through your singing

01:17:32i know i missed my turn
01:17:38i'm not the only one that's traveling but i know that i'm far from home
01:17:50i guess i had to learn the hard way
01:17:56i know that you did too
01:18:01how come no one has directions
01:18:06when we've all been down that same route too
01:18:14i still have a million questions
01:18:19only you got answers
01:18:25i don't really think that i will care for them
01:18:30i don't really think that i will care for them
01:18:31when i'm up in heaven with you
01:18:36press on

01:20:12my life's falling apart
01:20:13there was a little aid over in the corner
01:20:15of the hospital and i was talking to my dad he was in and out of a coma
01:20:20said you're very lucky
01:20:22and i looked at him and said what are you talking about i said he's in a coma
01:20:27and he said i was just thinking i wish i had a dad to love as much as you have
01:20:31yeah
