00:02Investigations into the assault of a soldier have been reclassified as murder following
00:07his death.
00:08Bentong OCPD Superintendent Zaiham Mohamed Kahar said the case, previously probed under
00:14Section 325 of the Penal Code for Causing Grievous Hurt, is now being investigated under
00:21Section 302 after the victim died at 9.34am on Saturday.
00:26He said a post-mortem has been ordered and police will review earlier statements and
00:31record additional ones if necessary.
00:34The incident occurred on March 30 at the 25th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment, 25RAMD
00:41Camp in Bentong, where a lower-ranking non-commissioned officer allegedly assaulted seven soldiers over
00:47dissatisfaction with their weapons store cleaning duties.
00:51The suspect is said to have used physical force, including slapping and punching the
00:55victims.
00:56One of the victims, Prebet Muhammad Amirul Razik Rosafindi, lost consciousness and was initially
01:03treated at the camp's medical centre before being transferred to Hospital Bentong, where
01:08he later died.
