00:00The Home Ministry has decided to return Datuk Seri Muhammad Shuhaili Muhammad Zain to the Royal Malaysia Police,
00:06ending his stint as Director General of the Border Control and Protection Agency, AKPS.
00:13Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the decision was made last week.
00:19He explained that Shuhaili is a police cadre officer on loan to AKPS
00:24and the Ministry is sending him back to the force for the police to take further action.
00:30Asked who will take over, Saifuddin would only say the new AKPS chief will be a police officer.
00:36On Wednesday, the Inspector General of Police said Shuhaili's service status
00:41had been referred to the Attorney General's chambers for legal advice.
00:45That's because his AKPS posting is a two-year cadre loan contract approved by the Yang Dipertuan Agong,
00:53so any decision to terminate or shorten it must be submitted to the King.
00:57The matter has also been referred to the Police Force Commission.
01:03This comes after Shuhaili pleaded not guilty on October 21st
01:07to two charges of voluntarily causing hurt to two police officers at KLIA on September 28th.
01:14The offence carries up to a year in jail, a fine of up to RM2,000 or both.
01:20On October 17th, Saifuddin said the AGC had asked for improvements to the investigation papers,
01:28including further clarification and more investigations.
