01:51table and all might happen please tell us who you are my name is Nicola Sturgeon
01:58yeah I am a politician mm-hmm I used to be the first minister of Scotland and I'm I
02:05think really happy to be here okay I'm gonna start with a question for Mikey Mikey hi how does it
02:20feel being divorced
02:29so I'm not actually divorced yet but I'm separated from my husband and what happened yeah we like shit happened
02:45what was the main reason why you chose to separate
02:52um I mean there's been a lot of public coverage of my husband's been accused of
02:56crime and stuff and yeah so that that is what everybody thinks it will be and and I'm not saying
03:02that's not a factor because that when you're faced with something like that it can I completely blows your entire
03:08life up your world but I think
03:10if I'm being honest I think it was probably more than that I've been this very career focused politician all
03:19my life and and now I'm I'm going into a phase of life where I want to find out a
03:24bit more about who I am as a person not just as a politician and so yeah it's you change
03:30and I think sometimes although the change is really hard you will be happier because you go through that change
03:38and you would be if you just stayed
03:40where you were have you had any secret rendezvous recently
03:50I'm just asking because I want to know
03:56this is the only time I hope in this whole recording that I'm going to do a politician answer which
04:03is maybe you can this is one of these moments where you're going to do a politician answer which is
04:10maybe
04:10you're going to have to judge from my body language and read between the lines
04:17great questions
04:19are you relaxed now?
04:23I am relaxed now
04:24until Piers here gets going
04:29Julis you're up
04:30hi Nicola lovely to meet you
04:33what politician do you like the least?
04:36oh
04:38right now that's quite a hard one to choose so I'm going to go for Nigel Farage
04:46he's not who he pretends to be I think he's got some really dodgy views
04:50I think he's only interested in himself and yeah I don't really like him sorry sorry Nigel
04:59but I mean you know
05:01I don't like him
05:02yeah
05:03I hate him
05:03if I see him on the street now I don't know what can I do to it to you
05:07yeah we're going to go on fine
05:09Takara
05:10when I'm sad I drink wine what do you do?
05:14drink wine
05:19what kind of wine do you like?
05:21I like red wine
05:22yeah
05:23I like Prosecco
05:25I mean I wouldn't turn down a glass of Prosecco but I prefer red wine or a cheeky wee gin
05:32and tonic
05:32I have a horrible feeling that this might make the situation even more worse in my opinion
05:37you're a lot more sensible than me I think
05:41yeah
05:42now we're going to come to Jason
05:46hello Nicola
05:47hiya
05:47nice to meet you
05:49you too
05:50when you were arrested
05:52did you have to do stuff like getting your fingerprint taken
05:56get put in a cell or
05:59did you get special treatment?
06:06I
06:07so I didn't do any of that
06:08but I don't think that was special treatment because I wasn't charged with any offence
06:12it was in Scotland when you're interviewed under caution about something
06:16you're arrested as part of that
06:18but I don't think anybody would have had any of those things in my circumstances
06:21okay
06:22so it wasn't
06:24that bad?
06:24no it was
06:26it was a horrible thing
06:27yeah
06:28okay
06:28good
06:29I mean no it wasn't good
06:30no it was not good
06:32sorry
06:32I would not recommend it
06:34no no of course
06:35yeah no one would
06:35it was horrible yeah
06:36I think I sort of put myself into some kind of
06:39you know shut down state and since then I've just tried to sort of blank it out my head
06:43I'm guessing that's to do with the trauma of it all
06:46yeah yeah probably yeah
06:47sorry you went through that
06:48that's all right
06:49yeah
06:50all right
06:52our next question is from Kieran
06:57I'm trying so hard not to do my Scottish accent
07:00that was do it again
07:01do you drink Buckfast?
07:03Buckfast?
07:04no I know
07:05you know I know Scotland
07:06that's a brilliant
07:07are you actually Scottish?
07:09no I'm from Birmingham
07:10right
07:11I love that Scottish accent
07:12I love the Scots
07:13there's all these kind of like myths about Scotland that we all drink Buckfast
07:17we all eat deep fried Mars bars
07:20yes
07:21I have never had a deep fried Mars bar
07:23is it nice?
07:24I've never had one
07:25yeah
07:26that might be the most controversial thing I've ever said
07:29oh
07:30okay
07:30next we're gonna hear from Kate
07:37hello Nicola
07:37hi Kate
07:38I'm Kate
07:39can you tell us why you've thought about fostering?
07:44oh that's a good question
07:46erm
07:48so I don't have children
07:49of my own
07:51erm
07:53I
07:54I
07:54I had a miscarriage
07:56when I was
07:5740
07:58erm
07:59so that was
08:00erm
08:03yeah
08:04I'm sorry
08:05no thank you
08:06erm
08:07anyway that's not why
08:08I thought about fostering
08:10when I was first minister
08:12I
08:13did and still do
08:14a lot of work
08:15with young people
08:16who've grown up in care
08:17mmm
08:18because you know
08:19we don't
08:19look after young people in care
08:22as well as we should
08:23and I saw
08:24first hand
08:25like how
08:26too much
08:27a good foster carer
08:29can
08:30change
08:30somebody's life
08:31and so that made me think
08:33you know maybe one day
08:34when I'm not in politics anymore
08:36I would like to foster
08:37but maybe it wouldn't be fair
08:39because my life is still a bit too
08:41you know
08:43thank you very much
08:44thank you
08:49we're going to come to Marcus next

10:54well done Marcus
10:55thank you very much
10:55congratulations
11:10I've never had Botox. I mean, I'm not ruling out getting it in the future.
11:15Right, Jamal, you're up.
11:17Hey, you're up.
11:18Yeah.
11:20When you were younger, was there anybody that you met and you admired a certain aspect
11:25within their personality and thought to yourself, oh, I want to have a piece of that when I get older?
11:32I mean, the people in politics that I learned most from, the guy who was first minister before me,
11:41a guy called Alex Salmond, who I later had a bit of a...
11:44Affair?
11:45No, I did not have an affair!
11:58Alex Salmond is no longer with us. He died just over a year ago.
12:01Wasn't he your mentor?
12:03He was my mentor, yeah, and then we fell out over certain things.
12:06How did you feel when you weren't invited to his funeral?
12:11Oh.
12:12Yeah, erm, I mean, things had gone horribly wrong between us and we weren't speaking anymore
12:18and even although we were on really bad terms, because he'd been such an important person
12:24in my life, I felt really, really sad and I had this real sense of grief and that was worse
12:31because I knew there was no way I could go to his funeral because his family wouldn't have wanted me
12:36to be there.
12:37Yeah.
12:37And so it just complicates that feeling of grief.
12:41Do you feel like there was things left unsaid that you wish you could have said?
12:46Yeah.
12:46The thing I wished, which I think I also knew would never ever happen, is that he would say to
12:53me,
12:54yeah, it wasn't your fault what happened.
12:58You know, even if he wasn't going to admit that it was his fault, that he would say,
13:02look, I know it wasn't you that did this to me and I'm sorry for suggesting that it was.
13:08And I think I would have loved at some point for him to say that, but I knew he wasn't
13:14the type of person that would ever do that.
13:16Yeah, I understand.
13:20And now we're going to come to Adam.
13:22OK.
13:23Hi Adam.
13:24Hi Nicola.
13:25How are you?
13:26I'm good.
13:27Adam, good Scottish name.
13:29Yep, it is.
13:30You're friends with Bond.
13:32James Bond.
13:33W7.
13:34Oh, Sean Connery.
13:36Yeah, Sean Connery.
13:37He was cool to me.
13:38Yeah.
13:39Do you like him?
13:40Yeah, I do.
13:41He was the first.
13:42And best, I think.
13:44Yeah.
13:44He was very cool.
13:46He gave me a lesson in how to deepen my voice.
13:51He made me put a little bit of paper between my teeth and then just walk around speaking and it
13:57deepened your voice.
13:58I think that's a quite cool thing to say. I had a voice coaching lesson from Sean Connery.
14:03It's good to help you.
14:05It's good to help you.
14:05You hang us.
14:11Elijah.
14:12Hi.
14:19You have had the same hairstyle for many years.
14:22Yeah.
14:24Have you ever considered getting another one?
14:26Yes, I have.
14:27Look, I've got sort of really, really difficult hair.
14:31It's really thick.
14:32You can't do anything with it.
14:33I hate my hair, right?
14:35But I am thinking of doing something quite radically different to Mark Levin politics.
14:42I'm not quite sure what yet.
14:44Like bleaching it or something like that.
14:46Your face and your hair looks a bit like Mrs. Doubtfire.
14:54Do you like that movie?
14:56Do you know what?
14:59Until about 30 seconds ago, I really liked you.
15:03It's an okay movie.
15:07Of course I'm not.
15:10I'm only joking.
15:11I'm only joking.
15:12Yeah.
15:13I do like Mrs. Doubtfire.
15:14Yeah.
15:14It's a great film.
15:15Yeah.
15:16It's a great film.
15:19And we're going to come to Cameron next.
15:24Hi.
15:25Hiya.
15:28When you miscarried with Isla Margaret, what do you wish people said to you?
15:43I think, sorry, the mention of her name has just got to me.
15:49No, I think at the time I didn't want people to say anything to me because I didn't really
16:00know how I felt about it.
16:06The thing I felt most was guilt because at first I hadn't been sure that I wanted to have the
16:15baby.
16:16And I was really worried that it would get in the way of my career and everything.
16:21And so then when I lost her, I don't know if she was a girl.
16:26I always decided, I always thought she was a girl.
16:30And so when I lost the baby, I just had this overwhelming feeling of it was my fault because I
16:35hadn't wanted it enough.
16:37And so I think I didn't want people to say anything to me.
16:41I just needed to sort of do what I have usually done when I've gone through difficult things.
16:47I just throw myself into work and stuff.
16:52Yeah.
16:53And it's the kind of thing you think you've got over and then suddenly sitting on television,
17:00somebody mentions her name and you realise deep down inside you kind of haven't.
17:04Would you like a hug?
17:05I would love a hug.
17:12I probably also need a tissue.
17:19Now we're going to hear from Sean.
17:21Is my mascara on?
17:23No, it's fine.
17:25Hello, Nicola.
17:27Hi.
17:27How are you?
17:29I am OK.
17:30All right.
17:31What would you tell your younger self?
17:38Um, that's a great question.
17:41And I've thought a lot about this over the years.
17:45What would I tell my younger self?
17:48Lighten up a bit.
17:50And, yeah, while you're, you know, trying so hard to be this top politician,
17:54don't forget to have a little bit of fun along the way.
17:58My younger self, though, was quite stroppy, so she would probably say to me, fuck off.
18:01I don't want your advice.
18:02LAUGHTER
18:04You know what?
18:06We're going to move on to setting up for something for you.
18:13I've had a bit in her foot before.
18:15No, but do you know what?
18:15It's so emotional, and it comes from the heart, so you're always going to be a bit nervous.
18:19No, I've run from foot.
18:20Yeah, it's not easy.
18:20But you absolutely smashed it.
18:22I'm really proud of you.
18:23I'm really proud of you.
18:24I'm really proud of you.
18:25I'll try it.
18:26It's just yet.
18:32There's a man I meet, walks up our street.
18:38I'm going to hit that one more time.
18:39One more time.
18:40Do you mind?
18:41This is one of my favourite songs.
18:44Ah, OK.
18:49There's a man I meet, walks up our street.
18:55He's a worker for the council, has been for 20 years.
19:01And he takes no lip off nobody, and litter off the gutter.
19:08Puts it in a bag, and never thinks to murder.
19:13And he packs his lunch in a sombre spare.
19:17Oh, the children caught in bogey.
19:19He never lets on.
19:22But I know, cause he once told me.
19:25He let me know a secret.
19:28About the money in his kitty.
19:31He's gonna buy a thingy.
19:34Gonna call her dignity.
19:48And I'm telling this story.
19:51And I'm following this scene.
19:53Sipping down Rocky.
19:56And reading Racky.
19:57And reading Racky.
19:58And I'm thinking about hope.
20:01And all that that means.
20:02Oh, the money.
20:04Oh, I wanna call New Year Eve.
20:23They'll be doing around
20:25They'll ask me where I got her
20:28I say
20:28I say my money
20:30They'll say isn't she pretty
20:32That she's
20:34Set it up
20:47Set it up
20:50Set it up again
20:52Set it up again
20:53Set it up again
20:55And I'm thinking about
20:56Hope
21:04And I'm thinking
21:06How could it be
21:08You need something
21:12On a ship called dignity
21:15On a ship called dignity
21:16On a ship called dignity
21:17To be
21:19To be
21:20To be
21:22To be
21:37One of my favourite songs
21:42That was
21:43Absolutely brilliant
21:45Brilliant performance of it
21:46You're amazing
21:48Thank you
21:51I think
21:53I think
21:53This is going to be one of the most special experiences of my life
21:57Being there today
22:06That was the assembly
22:07That's for you
22:08Oh wow, thank you
22:10Am I allowed to open it?
22:11Yeah
