00:00All right, I'm Paul Gust, Southern Area Manager, Continuous Creek.
00:04A trip to ZX episode of NZ Hunter Adventures.
00:10New Zealand is an outdoor paradise full of endless towering mountains
00:14that are inhabited by a variety of impressive big game animals.
00:19Join us as we explore these wild places and challenge ourselves physically and mentally
00:24while harvesting delicious game meat for all to share in the spoils.
00:30Life is a mountain, start climbing and don't look back.
00:35This is NZ Hunter Adventures.
00:40If you're a regular watcher of the show, you'll likely know I live deep in the South Island
00:44with a couple of young kids in tow, which can make camping, especially through those cold winter months,
00:49a bit of a challenge.
00:51I've been looking for ways to make family outdoor adventures easier
00:54when I stumbled across a crowd called Fortis,
00:56towing serious off-road caravans right into the heart of ta country.
01:00I knew straight away I'd found some kindred spirits
01:03and fast forward a year later, I was picking up my very own Supreme Territory
01:08off-road van from Steve at Fortis Christchurch.
01:11This one's fitted with airbag suspension, four 210 solar panels,
01:153,000 watt inverter, you've got everything.
01:17Having never towed anything this heavy before,
01:19it quickly became clear my 2.3 litre X-Class wasn't up to task.
01:24So I took the plunge on a trusty second-hand Toyota Land Cruiser
01:28and sent it to the team at Ironman 4x4 Christchurch
01:31to turn it into a serious off-road and family-friendly towing rig.
01:35From bull bar and winch, to crucial suspension upgrades.
01:38Finished off with some trusty Maxxis Razor mud terrains on ROH rims.
01:43With the build complete and a quick performance tickle up by the guys at Cray,
01:47bad grandpa the cruiser was born,
01:51and we were heading south.
01:57Alrighty, so we've gathered the troops again together
02:00for our annual four-wheel drive trip,
02:01and as you can see, a bit of a twist this time around,
02:03we're going to be towing some big Fortis caravans,
02:06the Urban Supreme 3-tonne off-road serious capable caravans.
02:09The crew this time is Nels Hancocks from Disaster Tours Limited,
02:14a bit of a repeat customer,
02:15and his two able assistants, Hoppy and Mabes from Continuous Group.
02:19Luke's brought along MVP from last year's trip down in south-westland, Trent,
02:22and we've got the full Ironman crew, Dave, Big Boss Vince,
02:26and even Clem from Taupo.
02:27And a bit of a tester for these caravans,
02:29we thought we'd tackle the highest public road in New Zealand,
02:32which is the Nevis Road.
02:33Goes up over Duffer's Saddle, which is just over 1,200 metres in altitude,
02:37and then we'll spend a few days camping and hunting along the Nevis.
02:40Should be beautiful scenery, hunting a few of the dock blocks there,
02:43and then I'm a little worried about that steep descent
02:44in the switchback corners down into Garston, past the ski hut,
02:48resupplying Garston, and then head over into the Air Mountains,
02:50and now so you've jacked up a bit of access over there?
02:53Yeah, a couple of days there probably,
02:54and then hopefully in down the Atherwind.
02:57Looking forward to it.
02:57And Dave, you're the experienced caravaner.
02:59How do you reckon we're going to go?
03:00Piece of cake.
03:01We've got some good trucks, a couple of really nice Fords,
03:04and a couple of Toyota backup vehicles.
03:07Well, let's see who overheats going up the first hill.
03:12Now it was time to actually put our money where our mouths were
03:15and see how the trusty rigs handled hauling such heavy loads
03:18up a long, serious incline.
03:20This was going to be interesting.
03:22Yee-haw, we're into it.
03:24It's getting a bit steep, a little bit loose there.
03:27Copy leuka, boy.
03:28How's that range again?
03:30It's doing all right at the moment.
03:32I was a little bit worried about those trans tents.
03:34It's got ooters of power, but it's going to be a bit warm,
03:36but I think this weather's helping, and it's just ticking along.
03:39Weird way to go, though.
03:40We're only halfway up.
03:42Oh, that's good.
03:43I was a little bit concerned about you boys,
03:44but I'm just doing 2,000 revs, puttering along.
03:49Everything's looking good.
03:51A little bit busy on the controls at the moment.
03:55This was a really honest grind with three-tonne vans on our backs,
03:59keeping us on our toes right to the top,
04:01where we hope to be rewarded with some magical views down the nevis,
04:05but maybe not today.
04:07Apparently, it's quite awesome scenery,
04:09but, yeah, we can't see much because it's foggy.
04:12Far out.
04:13I bet this will be some wicked scenery.
04:19We've just conquered the first obstacle of the trip,
04:21which was climbing about 1,000-odd metres up to Duffer's Saddle,
04:24so pretty cool to knock that off the caravans.
04:26And now we're just winding our way down to the nevis valley,
04:29which is very rich in gold mining history.
04:31There was a lot of people living here and trying to make a buck
04:33back in the gold rush when it was found in this area.
04:36In terms of hunting on this trip,
04:38we're coming late November into December,
04:40so we'll be looking mainly for yearling hinds for meat,
04:43and there is a chance of catching a chamois out up higher too,
04:46so we're really just going to hunt away,
04:48leapfrog along camping,
04:49and pop out down in Garston in about two or three days' time.
04:54Wow, as you just come up over this browner,
04:57holy heck, this is just crazy!
05:02Getting pretty steep, this final pinch down into the nevis.
05:06A few good switchbacks that are testing the turning arc
05:09of the trucks and the caravans.
05:11But yeah, green pastures in sight.
05:13There is a working farm here.
05:15Been there for station,
05:17so Naus usually knows about every farmer in the country,
05:20so I'm sure he'll stop in for a yarn.
05:22As much as our egos hated to admit it,
05:25ladder ground felt pretty good.
05:26Although it didn't look like the vans
05:28were getting an easy ride for long.
05:30Ooh, first crossing, boys.
05:32Look, you reckon the ranger can handle it?
05:34Oh, it's looking pretty deep and swift.
05:38Too easy, go the ranger.
05:40I'm more worried about that landcruiser, eh?
05:43I'm a little nervous about getting stuck between two rangers.
05:46Better put the foot down.
05:49Alrighty, so we're down in the nevis now.
05:51Really neat place with lots of old gold mining remnants,
05:55and you can see where they've been working here in years gone by.
05:58It's drizzling and rain's starting to set in, I think, for the evening,
06:01so we're just looking for a sheltered hideaway to set up camp.
06:04Get the caravan set up, awnings out,
06:07and enjoy all the luxuries of these epic off-road caravans.
06:13What's going on?
06:15Ah, just found a nice little campsite here,
06:18and I think we'll level these vans up.
06:21It adds a whole other level to it, eh?
06:23Having the big old wagons behind you.
06:26It's going to be very comfortable tonight.
06:30Look at that.
06:33The bar is open.
06:36What are you guys up to?
06:37Well, we're buttering the bread,
06:39and this is an Irish way of doing it,
06:41because it takes two to do it,
06:43and then we're going to do the whitebait on here.
06:44Salt and pepper with the egg.
06:46It'll taste bloody good.
06:47All three for me.
06:50Hopster whitebait fritter.
06:51I bet I try one, eh?
06:55Cheers.
06:56Cheers, mate.
06:57With our hunger scratched and the rain holding off,
06:59it was time to lace up and see if we could find some camp meat.
07:02These are brand spanking lower ranger Evos.
07:05That's what they should look like.
07:07And here's the worn-in on the farm to bet.
07:11A little bit softer on the soles, these, mate,
07:13which I thought if we're driving in them
07:15or doing a bit of rolling hill country could be good.
07:19All right, so we've got a bit of a hunting party here to manage.
07:22And look, you're going to take a crew downstream
07:23and up into some of the dock country?
07:25Yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:26Going to have a nosey that way,
07:27see if we can find a nice fat spring yearling down on the grass.
07:30Hopefully, if we're too hard,
07:31we can race back to the luxury here.
07:33Oh, I didn't know about that.
07:34Mate, you're meant to be the fit party.
07:35I've got the bugger knee.
07:36I'm taking the geriatrics just up the hill behind him.
07:41Not so good.
07:44We might be stuck.
07:45I think we're a little bit stuck here.
07:48Unshackled from his three-tonne ball and chain,
07:50Luke didn't need much encouragement
07:52to put the new Ford Ranger through its paces.
07:56How was that?
07:57Didn't even get stuck?
07:58No, it just blew up there.
07:59These rangers, man, oh my gosh.
08:01At worst, we had like, you know, a momentary pause.
08:03We re-evaluated.
08:05We had it with some, you know, great speed and power
08:07and overcame everything.
08:08I think that's a good story.
08:10Yeah, definitely.
08:10With Luke and Mabes back on script
08:12and covering some ground on foot,
08:14it was going to be interesting to see
08:16what sort of animal numbers were about
08:18in this handy but heavily hunted country.
08:20So where are you looking?
08:22So go up into those, just under that dark face,
08:25just on top of that.
08:26Just a big, pale, red hind.
08:29Gah, why couldn't they be on our side of the creek?
08:32Just what we're after.
08:33Fat, yelling hind.
08:36Still good to see some animals.
08:38Yes.
08:46Further south, my hunting crew
08:48had pushed well beyond our plan,
08:50but it had paid off.
08:52We've spotted four deer just before dark
08:55way down in this gully.
08:56Two velvet stags, by the look of it,
08:58they'll be safe from us.
09:00It looked like there was a yearling.
09:01I'm racing to try and close the gap.
09:03Dave's decided it's too big a retrieve for tonight
09:06and now he's silly enough to come join me,
09:08so let's try and get it done
09:09before we lose all daylight.
09:11Could be a mission.
09:14So that wasn't very successful, was it?
09:16Yes, but quite.
09:17Back to camp.
09:18Back to camp, exactly.
09:19It's hardly a trying proposition, isn't it?
09:21Oh, no, exactly.
09:22We'll have to starve for the night.
09:24Willie promised us a fat animal, so, yeah.
09:27Well, they may have succeeded.
09:28Well, you never know your luck.
09:30They had the geriatric crews,
09:31so we'll have to be close.
09:36Beautiful.
09:38Try sliding him with it.
09:40With Naus joining me,
09:41it became a race against the fading light
09:43to get a shot away at one of the yearlings.
09:47So we need that one to go sideways.
09:50Okay, I'm closing the bolt.
09:51Don't take security.
09:54Okay, middle of the shoulder there.
09:55Squeeze off.
10:00Failed it.
10:02Good shot.
10:03Yahoo!
10:03Woo-hoo!
10:05High five.
10:07Smoked the yelling height.
10:09Absolutely mowed it.
10:10I don't know how far it was.
10:12Probably 840 metres.
10:15But I'm bull****.
10:16Just over 500.
10:17Oh, was it?
10:18Is that your longest shot?
10:19Oh, I reckon it just about could be.
10:21Tour guide's on the board.
10:23Night one.
10:24Good stuff.
10:24Cool country to take it to.
10:27Man, what an awesome start to the trip.
10:30And Naus, being the gentleman that he is,
10:32has offered to go get the deer by himself
10:33to save me hiking over there on my bad knee,
10:36which I have managed to injure
10:37coming around this hillside.
10:38But, yeah, stoked.
10:41And looking forward to hearing
10:42how Luke, Mabes and Emil got on.
10:46Yeah, I can see you puffing, Naus.
10:50Mountain man Naus on the retrieval job.
10:54I don't know why I don't shoot one
10:55a bit closer to home,
10:56but anyway, good job, Willow.
10:59We found that.
11:00And better hit the water race
11:02around there, cross that creek
11:04and head away home.
11:06Who would have thought
11:07a 60-year-old bloke from Wichita Targo
11:09can do selfies?
11:11Good work, Naus.
11:12We'll see you back at camp.
11:17Oh, Naus, the legend of Tempanee.
11:21Mate, what a stroll.
11:25Well, after striking success last night,
11:27we thought we deserved a bit of a sleep in,
11:29particularly after the celebrations.
11:30And today is probably the crux
11:32of the four-wheel driving
11:33and towing the caravans,
11:34and that's heading along
11:35the Upper Nevis.
11:36There should be some good crossings
11:38and a bit of mud
11:38and a few ruts to try and get through,
11:41so that'll be fun.
11:42And just before we leave,
11:42Luke, you've had a good look
11:43around the mining history here.
11:45Yeah, I had a bit of a wander around
11:47down the township down there
11:47and look on the parks.
11:48It's pretty impressive.
11:49Sort of early 1850s,
11:51I sort of first found the golden here.
11:53Peaked at about 600 people in 1866,
11:56which is a hell of a lot of people
11:57for this wild and remote
11:58little corner of the country.
12:00Had all sorts.
12:00Had sluicing and dredging
12:02and stuff going on,
12:03various booms and busts.
12:04They had about four or five schools
12:05that they managed to burn down,
12:06and hotels.
12:07The last of them was in 1950,
12:09so there were people in here
12:10for a long time.
12:11Incredible stuff.
12:12Any takers on how the caravan's
12:14going to go today?
12:15From behind,
12:16it should be quite nice.
12:18Oh, they'll rock through this.
12:19Easy as.
12:20This is what they're built for.
12:21It's good.
12:21We've got to turn the ante.
12:22It's been far too crazy.
12:28All righty,
12:29so we've been doing
12:29a nice high sidle
12:30with a few tight corners
12:32and steep pieces.
12:33We're just coming back
12:34above the Nevis River
12:35and, ooh,
12:36here is a slippery piece
12:37with a bit of angle on it.
12:39Yeah.
12:39You wouldn't think twice
12:40about it on any normal day,
12:42but when you've got
12:42a three-ton caravan on the back,
12:44it adds a bit of spice to things.
12:45I don't think there's going
12:46to be too many issues.
12:47There's a fair bit of traction
12:48in this.
12:49Give me away.
12:49Everyone else is feeling good.
12:50The guy in the front.
12:52Let's see.
12:53Okay, here goes.
12:57Yeah, looks good.
12:58Yeah, it feels pretty good.
13:03That's perfect.
13:04That really shows the advantage
13:05of the electronic brakes,
13:06so that was doing all the work.
13:08Who's next?
13:09Me.
13:10I'm not so worried.
13:12Well, he made it look pretty easy,
13:13so we're just going to do the same now.
13:15People wonder why you have
13:17four-wheel drive tyres
13:17on your caravan.
13:19This is why.
13:20Too good.
13:22No dramas.
13:24All good.
13:25Wasn't quite as bad
13:26as it looked.
13:27No, there's a bit of traction
13:28under there.
13:28Certainly the sketchiest bit
13:30we've done so far.
13:31Passed with flying colours.
13:32We're going to have to
13:33turn the level up a bit more
13:35to get stuck, I think.
13:36Well, there's plenty more
13:37to come, I think.
13:38We've still got a good sidle,
13:39a few switchbacks,
13:40and then somewhere
13:41there's some river crossings.
13:42It's really good you're
13:43up in front, though.
13:44Yeah.
13:44I don't know why I opted
13:46to pull out first this morning.
13:47You've really got to be
13:48strategic there
13:49and sort of sit back.
13:50Well, I think that's why
13:51we left at lunchtime,
13:52because everyone was
13:52strategically sitting back
13:53and waiting for someone
13:54else to leave.
13:57It's a steep, bumpy hill
13:59with a tight corner at the top.
14:02We're through.
14:03Go the 200.
14:05Here goes Leaky Boy,
14:06Ranger number one.
14:07No pressure, mate.
14:08The 200 series just bounced
14:09up there quite nicely.
14:12Bugger.
14:13Well, I think the Land Cruiser
14:14of yours went up there
14:15far better, wouldn't he?
14:18Ranger number two.
14:19Oh, I think it's good.
14:21Whoa.
14:28Bugger hop is a shame.
14:29Two rangers, mate.
14:30It's hard to get one of all,
14:31can we?
14:34It's certainly pretty rough
14:35for a public road.
14:37Getting into some hairy stuff
14:39sliding around here.
14:40Good fun, though.
14:42Just dropped back down
14:43onto the flats
14:44and see more of the old
14:45gold mining history here.
14:46All of the faces
14:47that have sluiced
14:48and washed away.
14:49A few old hunts,
14:50so yeah, just amazing.
14:51Bit of countryside
14:52to be towing caravans through.
14:58So we've just come along
14:59these flats
15:00and the boys have been
15:01through this crossing here
15:02and they said it's very deep
15:03and a little bit soft.
15:04One of the neat features
15:05that the Supreme Caravan
15:06comes with
15:07is Cruise Master air suspension.
15:09And when you're on tricky stuff,
15:10if you're going through
15:11river crossings
15:12or trying to get over boulders
15:13and want that extra ground clearance,
15:15you can up the air suspension
15:16and it gives you
15:17quite a considerable lift.
15:30Oh, here's Luke.
15:32Oh, he's close to the edge.
15:36Yeah, he's through.
15:37Go there, right?
15:40Great success.
15:41You've run through
15:42that deep river crossing.
15:43All okay?
15:44And yeah, we'll keep trucking.
15:45So much fun
15:47touring these caravans
15:47through this country.
15:49Any sort of steep stuff
15:50isn't that much fun,
15:51but on the flats,
15:53bog holes, crossings,
15:54it's just epic.
15:56Look at this.
15:57We've sort of got
15:57our own commune here.
15:59Bit of continuous spouting
16:00and that'll be good as new.
16:02Bit of history to that thing.
16:04Every 150 years old.
16:05Yeah.
16:06And another great thing
16:07about the air suspension
16:08on the caravans
16:08is they have a self-leveling function.
16:10With the press of one button,
16:12we'll have a great night's sleep.
16:14It's been an eye-opener for me.
16:15There's some technology
16:16in these things.
16:17Quite like this.
16:19Time for a late lunch, I think.
16:21Yeah.
16:21Yep.
16:24All right, we're free
16:25for the evening.
16:26We've dumped the caravans,
16:27left them there at camp,
16:29and we are heading high
16:30through a bit of dock country
16:31for a hunt
16:32and then potentially
16:33onto some private land
16:34that now says Jack access onto.
16:36So yeah, while we've got
16:37this relatively calm,
16:38beautiful evening,
16:39we thought we might as well
16:40make the most of it
16:40and hunt high.
16:44Well, we've got the tool
16:45for a bit of private land
16:46stalking here.
16:47These Siro on electric bikes.
16:49Man, they've got some go.
16:50Absolutely no noise.
16:51Battery lasts for ages.
16:53So I think we're going
16:53to send some scouts out upwind.
16:55You can let us know
16:56when you see some deer, Dave.
16:57Definitely.
16:58Should be good, eh?
16:59Yeah.
17:00This is the trip.
17:01We've got every gizmo
17:02and gadget under the sun.
17:03Yep.
17:04While our silent scouts
17:05were proving very successful,
17:07at locating animals,
17:08a tricky wind quartering
17:09around the faces
17:10wasn't helping our chances
17:12of getting something
17:13on the ground.
17:15Seen a grip of a shimmy.
17:17There's a deer down
17:18below us as well.
17:20Five hundred.
17:21Five hundred.
17:23Unfortunately,
17:23this shimmy
17:24is spooking, boy.
17:25So we might have to
17:26look at the deer,
17:27but I'm pretty sure
17:28they're just dough and kids.
17:30Cool to see, though.
17:39All right,
17:40they're just going
17:40down to the right.
17:41What are they, Trent?
17:43They're definitely eyes.
17:44No, I don't think they are.
17:46I think there's some worms
17:47on the front one
17:48and velvet.
17:49Oh, that right-hand one,
17:50yeah, he's got velvet.
17:52And the left-hand one's
17:53probably a young
17:54spiker or stag, too.
17:55Yeah.
17:57It's exciting times, though,
17:58isn't it?
17:59Good to get one on the scope.
18:00Oh, absolutely.
18:02Close, but no cigar.
18:03I guess we just keep looking.
18:04Oh, exactly.
18:05It's good fun.
18:08So we're just sneaking
18:09our way down the face here
18:10and another shimmy popped up.
18:12I think it's dough
18:13from the group around there.
18:16Very cool encounter
18:17in Gordens country.
18:21Getting cold, getting dark.
18:23Yeah, time to
18:24head back to the caravans.
18:26After multiple animal encounters,
18:28we'd actually done really well
18:29to have not shot an animal
18:31this evening,
18:32but with epic vistas,
18:33four-wheel driving
18:34and camping to soak up,
18:35no-one was too worried.
18:46Cracker day, lads.
18:47Morning of day three
18:48and time to leave the nervous
18:50and do another big climb
18:51up over Garston's ski hut.
18:53Man, we've picked the weather.
18:54I think the forecast
18:55is 90k gale force winds up there.
18:58Reckon these caravans
18:59will blow over.
18:59We'll be right.
19:01I think it should be pretty
19:02whole set,
19:03but nah,
19:04I reckon we've got under control.
19:06It's going to have to be pretty strong
19:07to blow three and a half tonne over.
19:10And we shouldn't
19:11encounter chickens just yet.
19:12We've got a few river crossings
19:13coming up,
19:14a few muddy fords,
19:15so it should be fun.
19:17Yeah, given that track record,
19:18there should be no sweat.
19:20Keep trying to challenge
19:20these things,
19:21but they just keep ripping
19:22on through.
19:24The range is not really
19:25going well.
19:26What about the land cruiser?
19:28Oh, I've been blown away.
19:29It was all those Ironman mods
19:30that the boys did.
19:32Any key learnings you boys
19:34have had with the rangers towing?
19:36I have to say,
19:37it's been easier
19:37than I expected.
19:38There's just nothing to face it.
19:40With the uptime brakes,
19:41you don't have to think about it.
19:42They've been the dream to tell me.
19:44Oh, well,
19:44that's why this road
19:45was the perfect test run.
19:46Just enough to get our feet wet
19:48and hopefully some more
19:49serious stuff coming up
19:50later in the trip.
19:52Right, we're dropping down
19:53into this creek,
19:54so we're just a little bit worried
19:55because it's going to cross axle.
19:57So we're going to possibly
19:58look at putting some
19:59traction aid boards
20:00just so we don't get
20:01too much tip too fast.
20:03While the Fordist team
20:04were fairly relaxed
20:05about loaning us
20:06some of their lovely vans
20:07for this trip,
20:08the last thing I wanted
20:09to be doing
20:09was making a phone call
20:10to say,
20:11sorry guys,
20:12we've tipped one over.
20:13So we were proceeding
20:14with caution here.
20:22So while this is loaded
20:23right up on this bump here,
20:25we're just going to
20:25drop the air on this side,
20:26increase the air on the other
20:27and it will be a wave.
20:32200, sir.
20:33Didn't even lift the wheel,
20:34ranger boys.
20:37I think speed's my friend here,
20:38isn't it?
20:46Perfectly executed.
20:47A little bit of caution
20:48here and there
20:49and nice and slow.
20:50That's the way.
20:52It was a bit of fun.
20:54Air suspension came
20:55into its own.
20:56Luke lifted some wheels
20:57big time.
20:58My caravan barely put
21:00a wheel off the ground
21:01so yeah,
21:02pretty capable.
21:03This section of the track
21:04was getting increasingly
21:05rutted and muddy
21:06after a recent
21:07heavy weather event
21:08but luckily Luke's
21:09confidence behind the wheel
21:11was growing too.
21:12It's quite a muddy pitch.
21:14Even without the caravan
21:15on this might be
21:16a bit of a challenge
21:17but we'll give it a go.
21:25That's going to be
21:25quite tough.
21:28The caravan's not even
21:29in the hole yet.
21:31That's quite tough.
21:35We've run the
21:36kinetic rope around
21:37and doubled it
21:38so we've got less
21:39stretch at the moment
21:40and we'll just take
21:41things easy
21:41because I've got
21:42a little bit of drive.
21:44Give it a go.
21:45We'll try and gently
21:46get started.
22:01Go to the 79 series.
22:05That was good fun.
22:07You've got something
22:08to come look at Luke.
22:10Lucky I'm a tall bloke eh?
22:13No worries.
22:16Hi guys.
22:18Yeah sorry Luke.
22:20We'll be taking
22:20the chicken line here.
22:25We're just doing
22:26the last crossing
22:27up the Upper Nevis.
22:28We'll now be climbing
22:29about 200 metres
22:30in altitude
22:31up to 1,100 metres.
22:32It's a good climb.
22:33Pretty sad to be leaving.
22:35This Nevis Valley
22:36has been epic.
22:36Good for wheel driving
22:37this morning.
22:38Up we go
22:39and then a steep
22:40drop down
22:41the other side.
22:43So you get a phone call
22:44from Poppy just now
22:45Dave.
22:46Yeah the boys
22:47have gone over the top
22:48and they reckon
22:48it's absolutely
22:49blown its ditch off.
22:51They were up
22:51at the ski lodge
22:52and while they were
22:53there the toilet
22:55got blown over
22:55so they're suggesting
22:57that we send
22:58Clem on ahead.
22:59Even a three and a half
23:00ton caravan
23:01might be in trouble.
23:03Wasn't someone
23:04laughing at me
23:04when I suggested
23:05the caravans
23:06might get blown over?
23:07That could have been
23:08me actually
23:09judging at the wind
23:11we've got at the moment
23:11it's a possibility.
23:15She is seriously windy.
23:17Big dust storm
23:19just came up the track
23:20behind us
23:20and wobbled the van.
23:21It's going to be interesting.
23:23A positive call
23:24from scouts
23:25Clem and Vince
23:25soon had us moving forward
23:27but taking it pretty easy.
23:29It's pretty breezy
23:30up the top there Vince.
23:32The caravans have actually
23:33come down and around
23:34there pretty good.
23:35So we'll see
23:36how that all goes
23:41for them.
23:42We've got a history
23:43on these walls
23:44and this is the
23:45historic
23:46Garston Ski Club.
23:47It was built in
23:48roughly about the 1930s
23:49and served
23:50as the base
23:51of the first ski field
23:52in the South Island
23:53up until about
23:54the 1950s
23:55when they established
23:56Coronet Peak.
23:57Apparently it was
23:58the truck breaking down
23:59that selected
23:59the site from the top.
24:00Oh really?
24:01It was prefabricated
24:02and they had it
24:02crawling up the hill
24:03and it died a natural death
24:04and they called it
24:05this is now
24:06that location.
24:07Oh it's cool
24:07it's still here.
24:08I'm sure
24:09if you've got stuck
24:10in conditions
24:11like we have now
24:12if you're on foot
24:12you'd be pretty happy
24:13finding you're still
24:14standing.
24:15Yeah.
24:16Alright
24:16from here we're going
24:17to head steeply
24:18down the hill
24:18into Kingston
24:19to fuel up.
24:20Mags and Alice
24:21and the boys
24:22they shot the gap
24:23I think they're
24:23at the cafe down there
24:24so we'll go catch up
24:26with them
24:26and continue the trip.
24:32The rain seems
24:33to have stopped
24:34which is quite nice
24:35and we're now
24:35heading into
24:36spot number two
24:37which is up
24:38into the edge
24:38of the Eyre Mountains.
24:40Some pretty cool
24:41scenery ahead.
24:42The rough plan
24:43is just to find
24:43somewhere where
24:44we can park up
24:45the caravan
24:45to make a camp
24:46and then spread out
24:48and hunt
24:48all the dock country
24:49that surrounds here.
24:56Here we are guys
24:57our own little
24:57paradise
24:58just one last
24:59river crossing
25:00and that's camp.
25:01There was even
25:01a nice fat
25:02trout in the
25:04camp pool.
25:05It's a good looking
25:05spot all right
25:06this is just magic.
25:08Bit of sun
25:08tucked away
25:09from the wind
25:10should be good.
25:11Nice bit of water
25:12running through it
25:12here.
25:13Great.
25:15This is awesome.
25:17This is wicked.
25:17Christmas vibes
25:18all over for me
25:19you know classic
25:20family camping
25:20holiday.
25:21Minus the family
25:22but.
25:24I thought we're
25:25bonded.
25:27Cool.
25:28Let's get camp
25:29sorted and sneak
25:30up to that hill
25:30for a quick
25:31evening hunt
25:31up the creek
25:32before dark.
25:33Yep.
25:33Awesome.
25:36It's been a very
25:36quiet night so far.
25:38I've seen two or
25:39three deer above
25:40the bush line
25:41and absolutely
25:42nothing down on
25:43this lovely flance
25:44chock full of tucker
25:45so there might not
25:46be quite as many
25:47deer as we were
25:48expecting.
25:48Might give it
25:49another 10 or 15
25:50minutes and head
25:52back for the
25:53luxurious cab.
25:54It's one of the
25:55big downsides of
25:56cutting around all
25:56of this luxury is
25:57you probably want to
25:58spend more time
25:59there than hunting.
26:00What are we
26:01watching Dad?
26:02Just some guys
26:02that are bouncing
26:03some urban
26:04caribans around the
26:05park.
26:05They look familiar
26:06I just can't put a
26:07name to it.
26:11With a 4am start
26:12we set off uphill
26:13eager for a big
26:14morning exploring
26:15those impressive
26:16alpine basins.
26:18They're running.
26:19It's alright.
26:20I feel like it's
26:20going too much
26:21and now
26:21waiting around the
26:22next corner.
26:23That's awesome.
26:23Right up in the
26:24tops now.
26:24Let's keep going.
26:25Exactly.
26:25It'll be good fun.
26:26Yeah we'll just
26:26keep looking over the
26:27next hour or two
26:28before it heats up.
26:29Bit of new country
26:30to look into.
26:31It's always exciting.
26:40So we've spotted
26:41this shammy
26:42lone shammy
26:43up in the
26:44head circ.
26:45Good chance
26:46it could be a buck
26:46so we'll just get
26:47a spotter on.
26:48It's still a long
26:48way off
26:49about a thousand
26:49yards but
26:51beautiful head basin
26:52up there.
26:54First impressions
26:55he's not a monster
26:56but need a better
26:57look really.
26:59It's quite a big
26:59body it looks to
27:00have a little bit
27:00of age about it.
27:01Oh yeah you can
27:02count the growth
27:03rings from there.
27:04Oh yeah it's
27:04Rossky ATC mate
27:05it's basically
27:06x-ray vision.
27:07Chuck Yeager
27:082010 vision.
27:12Looks like
27:13absolutely terrible
27:14hook to be honest.
27:15Could even be a
27:16doe.
27:16Yeah.
27:17What is it up to?
27:19Are they random
27:20critters shammy
27:20out there?
27:21There's a stack
27:22right here.
27:24He's actually got
27:25a bit of velvet
27:26up eh?
27:27Look at that.
27:29There he goes
27:30you can just see
27:30his velvet.
27:33Oh how cool.
27:35Look at that.
27:37He's got no
27:38bays.
27:39That's wicked.
27:40Oh he's quite a
27:41nice stag isn't
27:42he?
27:43That's cool to
27:43see.
27:44That's very
27:44cool.
27:46It's sort of
27:46made the morning
27:47seeing that shammy
27:48and now this
27:48velvet stag.
27:50Yeah.
27:52Must have had a
27:52bit of age to be
27:53so much more
27:53developed than
27:54the rest of the
27:55stags you're saying.
27:55Yeah that's quite a
27:56bit of growth by
27:57early December.
27:58Willie there's a
27:59big velvety just
28:00on this near face
28:01only just up above
28:02I can see it
28:04not quite as
28:05developed and big
28:06as the other one
28:07but missing bays as
28:09well eh?
28:09Hmm.
28:11There was in fact
28:12a few animals in
28:13here all stags
28:14guessing those
28:15hinds could be
28:16closer to the bush
28:17edge while they
28:17drop their fawns
28:18but yeah awesome
28:20great country
28:21good walk and
28:22now back to camp
28:23to rest the eyes
28:24after a very short
28:26night's sleep.
28:26Yeah there's a
28:27lower country so
28:28we can find a
28:28yield tonight.
28:30No we're nailing
28:31the caravanning
28:32and the four
28:32driving and
28:33hunting.
28:34Well.
28:36I thought there was
28:37meant to be a deer
28:38plague in Southland
28:38according to the
28:39headlines.
28:40Oh it is quite
28:40entertaining at the
28:41moment isn't it?
28:46Time to put the
28:47Sir Ron's to work
28:47we're going to
28:48split up for our
28:48evening hunt.
28:49Woolley's taken the
28:50soft road he's got
28:51the trucks in the
28:51rain so we've donned
28:53raincoats and we're
28:53going to head up one
28:54of these spurs and
28:55try and get above the
28:55bush line before the
28:56rain hits.
28:57Alright good luck.
29:06We've just climbed
29:06up top.
29:07Some good looking
29:08deer faces here and
29:10of course it's just
29:11started to rain so
29:11need a bit of kit to
29:13try out this trip and
29:14that's the Hunter's
29:15Element Storm Jacket.
29:16Very lightweight.
29:17This is the perfect
29:18coat just to have
29:19sitting in the bottom
29:20of your pack for
29:21exactly this when you
29:22think you're going to
29:22get fine weather but
29:23it starts raining.
29:25The Hunter's Element
29:26team and their product
29:27designer Brodie have
29:28been busy in the last
29:29year pumping out a
29:30range of awesome new
29:31products.
29:32This trip I've been
29:33trialling the new
29:34Storm Rain Jacket and
29:35Overtrail.
29:36Very lightweight coat
29:37under 400 grams,
29:3930k waterproof rating,
29:4124k breathability.
29:43Personally I try to
29:44avoid the rain when
29:45hunting so my
29:46rain jacket spends
29:47most of its time
29:47being carried in my
29:48pack so I love that
29:49it's light, very
29:50packable but then
29:51I've got it there
29:52for when I need it
29:53to cut the rain or
29:54the wind chill.
29:55Another new one is
29:56the Climate Hood
29:56and Top.
29:57This is an insulated
29:58mid layer.
29:59It's also versatile
30:00enough to wear as an
30:00outer layer.
30:01The technology in it
30:02regulates to your own
30:03body temperature so
30:05you can be quite
30:05active in it when
30:06you're stalking while
30:07it'll also keep you
30:08warm when you stop
30:09the glass and throw
30:09it on to cut the
30:10chill.
30:11The outer is
30:11surprisingly hard
30:12wearing so it can
30:13handle a bit of
30:14abrasion in the bush.
30:15Super snug and
30:16comfortable, weighs only
30:17350 grams and it's just
30:18the top that you'll find
30:19yourself living in on
30:21all your trips.
30:21On the base layer
30:22front the Eclipse range
30:23of collars, hoods and
30:25crews has had a full
30:25revamp and is even more
30:27lightweight and
30:28breathable as well as
30:29odour resistant.
30:30While if you're working
30:30on the farm or want
30:31something super durable
30:32and tough there's a new
30:34Forge waterproof down
30:35jacket and vest along
30:37with the Molesworth a
30:38New Zealand wool jersey
30:39that's windproof and
30:40hard wearing and looks
30:41pretty smart too.
30:42So if you want to check
30:44out any of this gear for
30:44yourself pop on down to
30:46your local hunting and
30:47fishing New Zealand
30:47store.
30:56That's just so much fun.
30:58That is wicked.
31:02Look at all this
31:02groundwork covered.
31:05Nearly bottomed.
31:06Yeah.
31:07Still got a few hours of
31:07daylight, two fingers
31:08crossed but not looking the
31:10greatest just at the
31:11moment.
31:14We've got a deer right
31:17out in the open.
31:19Looks like a shooter.
31:21Just had a hind come out
31:23of the bush edge about
31:24300 yards away.
31:30There we go.
31:32See it coming through?
31:33Yep.
31:34Just need it to step
31:35forward.
31:36Just turned here.
31:38There it comes.
31:40Just follow.
31:41Okay.
31:42Put it on the shot there
31:43Dave.
31:43Yep.
31:44Squeeze off when you're
31:45ready.
31:46Squeeze that shot.
31:48Thrilled it.
31:49Great shot.
31:51Good stuff Uncle Dave.
31:54One on the ground for me.
31:55Awesome.
31:56Mate.
31:57And that might be
31:58second deer with the
32:00Sarko 90 Peak 7mm
32:02PRC.
32:03Excellent.
32:04Go grab it.
32:05Let's do it.
32:06Should be just on the
32:07edge of that bush edge.
32:08Yep.
32:09So we've got a hind.
32:11She's bedded down under
32:12that rock face at about
32:13440.
32:14There's a reasonable way
32:15in this wind.
32:16So we'll see if we can
32:17move closer for a shot.
32:18I'm not sure.
32:22Try and get to this
32:23rock here.
32:25She's up under that
32:26bit there.
32:27She's still bedded but
32:28she's well and truly
32:29onto it.
32:45So can you see her?
32:47Yep.
32:47Alright.
33:00Can you tell me if she's
33:01really smart or really
33:01silly?
33:02Because this is
33:03outrageous.
33:04This is crazy.
33:06She will not stand up
33:07with clapped, with yelled,
33:08with roared.
33:10Wave the jacket.
33:10I've turned my jacket
33:12inside out, waved that
33:14around.
33:17Clem's in a heck of a
33:18position.
33:19The only rock we've got
33:20is half hanging on that.
33:22We were waylaid for a
33:23while by this incredible
33:24young stag that just
33:25wandered up around there
33:26and here I was worrying
33:28that he was going to
33:28spook this hind.
33:30But if only.
33:32Come on, Gil.
33:32Hurry up.
33:35Must be close now, Dave.
33:36Where I last saw it
33:37drop down was just in
33:38this corner here.
33:39Shall I put the dog
33:40out?
33:41Yep, I can.
33:42Okay, will I?
33:43Where is it?
33:43Yes, where is it?
33:45Oh, she's on to
33:45something.
33:47Good dog.
33:49Good dog.
33:51Good stuff.
33:53Awesome.
33:55Good dog.
33:55Yeah.
33:57Alright, let's
33:57butcher her.
33:58Let's do it.
33:59That's the Benchmade
34:00Bagout Mini.
34:00Very cool little knife.
34:05There's the second
34:06boned out back leg.
34:08Bit of prime venison.
34:09While wood tasted success,
34:11Luke and Clem's stakeout
34:12didn't end quite the same
34:14way, with their culprit
34:15eventually deciding to bolt.
34:17Put a bit of effort into
34:18that stalk.
34:18Yep.
34:20Perched up on a rock.
34:22We've got a fair old hike
34:23right back up to the top of
34:24the ridge around to the
34:24bikes.
34:27Back to the caravans.
34:33When the weather turns, that's
34:34when our mobile accommodation
34:36really comes into its own.
34:38Shelter, tucker, and a hot
34:39shower.
34:43It was pretty wet and windy
34:45last night.
34:45Yep.
34:46Morning of day five and rain's
34:48gone.
34:48Wind's still here.
34:49Forecast to get up to 90k's
34:51today.
34:51Yeah, yeah, it's going to get
34:52worse, which is going to be
34:53interesting towing these
34:54around.
34:55And the plan is head back
34:57out of this valley.
34:58It's been great, but we've
34:59now got a new valley heading
35:00into, and Greg's managed to
35:02finally escape his meetings
35:03and join us at the tail end
35:04of the fun.
35:05It was quite strategic
35:06shooting your deer, Dave,
35:07before deer got here, because
35:08now the walking's going to...
35:10Yeah.
35:14Yeah.
35:14Here we go.
35:15Let's see how far we get this
35:16time.
35:17Dusty road, onwards and
35:19upwards.
35:20Well, so far, what a wicked
35:22trip.
35:23The scenery for a North
35:24Island boy is out the gate.
35:27We love your enthusiasm,
35:28Clem, but you're still keeping
35:29an eye on where you're
35:30driving, eh?
35:37Clem just made my day.
35:39The land cruise has gone down.
35:41Loving it.
35:42Better go back and get the
35:43evidence.
35:45Oh, no, Clem.
35:46We've gone down, brother.
35:48We're well dug in.
35:50Poppy to the rescue.
35:52Perfect.
35:53I'm going to get this out
35:54before the TV crew turn up.
35:57Oh, too late.
36:05Oh, well, the end's well.
36:07Clem's out.
36:11Yeah, so it looks like we might
36:12have to put this caravan to the
36:13test up there, Dad.
36:14We're going to have to head
36:15through the riverbed.
36:17Well, I'm up for it.
36:17I'm going to just follow along
36:19behind you, mate.
36:20See how we go.
36:21As long as you don't find any
36:22of those soft spots like Clem
36:23found earlier, eh?
36:24You should be right.
36:26That's all right.
36:26We're at the right vehicle, Dave.
36:28Go the mighty ranger.
36:37You think it's been a wheel?
36:39Yeah.
36:39Of course not, buddy.
36:47Whoa.
36:48That sounds better.
36:53Yeah, you coming down nicely now?
36:55By this point in the trip we had a fairly good handle on our rigs, knowing
36:59when to take it slow and when to plant the fort was added fun.
37:08So this is my first afternoon watching these things in action. You definitely
37:12have got to allow a bit more, particularly approach and departure
37:15angles. Alright this looks like our new campsite, the shelter behind that ridge,
37:22beautiful hunting country all around us. How good. Time to get the vans set and all
37:27the gear out. Head off for a hunt tonight. In gale force winds we set off to try and
37:33secure some handy venison for vents and with the Ironman crew leaving the next
37:37morning it was an all-or-nothing hunt. But maybe we were in luck.
37:42We had gravel bankers come back to the right about 100 yards.
37:46Are they fallow or reds? Fallow. Alright let's see if we can get up there a bit
37:51closer.
37:56They're coming back. Yeah they're coming on to this closer to us.
38:01Here it is. Yeah it's just over here just to the left of this brown fern.
38:06Oh yep I've got them. Yep. They're just walking up the hill a wee bit there.
38:11Shall we have a shot? Yep.
38:17Good shot. That's a good hit.
38:19Brilliant. Yep. Awesome.
38:22Alright. We're going to have to get our feet wet though.
38:25Yeah I know. What did you shoot at that side of the room?
38:27Oh boy. The fact that I'm from a place called Wind Whistle I have to be able to shoot in
38:33these conditions
38:33because this is normal.
38:42Well that was a very good shot in challenging conditions.
38:46Thanks Greg. Yeah. Crikey we couldn't really even hear each other talking.
38:50A couple of times there the old wind come down the river and we've got a shower of gravel in
38:54our faces.
38:54No. Good one.
38:56Right. Let's get back to camp because those boys will be having far too much fun without us.
38:59Absolutely. It's starting to get dark so we don't want to be too late do we?
39:02No.
39:04Iron Man!
39:05Hey!
39:08Yeah I think the camp crew had been enjoying themselves.
39:19Iron Man boys you're back off to Civvy Street and work?
39:22Can't be a holiday all the time can we?
39:24Can we not? No.
39:25It was no holiday.
39:27That was not a cake walk.
39:28Very good product testing. Suspension. Bit of recovery gear.
39:32Two chairs?
39:33Yeah I'll put the hand up for that.
39:35Mate I'm amazed where we've been able to tow them. Definitely. Really impressive.
39:39Just the scenery. Look how big it is. It's humongous.
39:42And the caravans have outperformed.
39:44Where we've pushed them, where we've towed them through. It's been easy.
39:48Awesome. Safe travels. We'll see you back in the workshop in a week or two.
39:55Before the heat of the day set in, Mabes and I raced uphill above camp to try and restock our
40:01venison supplies.
40:02And it looked like our efforts might be worth it.
40:04Behind you're kneeling there.
40:07Okay. Got it Mabes.
40:11Okay.
40:13Middle foot shoulder squeeze off when you're ready Mabes.
40:17Drilled it.
40:18What a shot.
40:20Good shot Richard Mabes.
40:22Top's off the week.
40:24Bit of four wheel driving and bit of caravan.
40:26Oh here comes the other hind down in front.
40:30Try and get on her there Mabes.
40:33Do you see it there Mabes?
40:34Yeah.
40:35Okay, middle foot shoulder when you're ready Mabes.
40:37Drilled it.
40:38Great shot again.
40:39Mr Mabin.
40:41There we go.
40:42Two from two.
40:43Two from two.
40:44Outstanding.
40:45Two great eating hinds.
40:47It's going to be quite a good carry.
40:50Going off the blood on Willow Mabes.
40:51She's already found it.
40:52She should be about here somewhere I reckon.
40:54And there she is.
40:56Good girl Willow.
40:57Good girl.
40:58Big barren hind by the looks.
41:00Yeah.
41:00Are you feeling like me slightly regretting that second shot now?
41:04Well yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
41:06No, it'll be good.
41:07It can't beat a bit of extra meat so.
41:09Cool.
41:10Oh there we go.
41:11Good dog.
41:11There she is.
41:13That looks some better nick.
41:15That's more like it.
41:16Beautiful yearling.
41:17Yeah.
41:19Bloody outstanding.
41:19Well done.
41:20Thanks mate.
41:22Alright.
41:23Rock and roll.
41:24Good success.
41:25Back to the vans.
41:25A textbook hunt had proved rather elusive this trip.
41:29So it was a satisfying feeling as we headed downhill with heavy packs.
41:33After a very exciting day of sitting on the Starlink in the caravan for Ta Foundation meetings
41:38and finishing our herd management plan submissions, we're finally going hunting.
41:42We're quite excited to head our way up the valley here.
41:44Have a look for some fallow deer, red deer, maybe even a pig.
41:46I don't know if I'll let these guys shoot any pigs, but we'll see how we go.
41:52So we've left the trucks just to shoot up river and have a last look before dark.
41:56And luckily we've picked up a couple of fallow just upstream on this flat.
42:00So Trent's just getting set up with the teka 7 oil PRC.
42:05Let's see how it goes.
42:08Nice.
42:09Okay.
42:09You want to aim just forward straight up the front there because of the wind.
42:13Yeah.
42:14Okay, take it.
42:22Good shot.
42:22Got it.
42:23Good shot.
42:25Good stuff, Trent.
42:27Nothing like a bit of pressure, eh?
42:31Good shoot, mate.
42:32Well, it's unreal, eh, this?
42:35In the middle of absolutely nowhere.
42:37It's a dream to be in a place like this all the time, eh?
42:40And it's just...
42:42Yeah, now let's hope to walk over and pick that one up nice and easy, I reckon.
42:45It's about here somewhere, wasn't it, Luke?
42:47Oh, there she is.
42:48That's a good nick.
42:49Yum.
42:49Yeah.
42:51Good stuff, bro.
42:53Awesome, mate.
42:54Well done.
42:55Look at her.
42:55Is it your first fallow doe?
42:56Yeah, I think it is.
42:58Yeah.
42:58Perfect.
42:59We've got a bit of venison on board now.
43:01How lucky we've got the fridges.
43:03Man, there's got to be some good eating, though.
43:04Oh, it's going to be brilliant.
43:05Looks so tasty.
43:07There's a real sense of pride that comes with sourcing your own wild food.
43:11And Trent's fallow just topped off a magical week, exploring and gathering venison across
43:16our stunning southern lands.
43:21Well, sadly, I think that's the end of a Hancock's disaster tour, this time with the
43:25caravans, and man, we've had some fun.
43:28It's been awesome, all right.
43:29Ford's caravans, they can pretty much go anywhere.
43:32I think if I hadn't said stop here inside the dock boundary, I think you would have just
43:36kept on going.
43:38Been really impressed by just how capable they are, and had some great hunting, so couldn't
43:43be better.
43:43Good result.
43:44Big thanks to particularly all the landowners.
43:47Iron Man and the continuous group for the continued sponsorship.
43:52It allows us to come and do it.
43:54Absolutely.
43:55Absolutely.
44:00Hey guys, it's Tom and Darish here from with Wild.
44:03As you know, when you get a good haul of venison, you've got a lot of trim and sort of
44:06products
44:07to put into small goods and sausages.
44:08So I just wanted to introduce you to our butcher partners from Apari Meats, Rich and Geoff.
44:14Typically chorizo using pork fat, this is just beef and 100% wild venison.
44:19That's right.
44:20What are you lads going to do to support our little chorizo just here?
44:23So we're going to put together a one pan wonder dish, sort of take on a cowboy beans,
44:28I suppose, hey?
44:29Yeah.
44:30Nice heavy cast iron, let the chorizo really bleed its fat into the dish and flavour everything.
44:35So that's a dry pan.
44:36We want to blister the tomatoes.
44:38Blistering just gives a really nice flavour, sort of chars it, gets the sugars working.
44:45Chilli and onion in.
44:47And garlic.
44:51Now we're going to hit it with the olive oil.
44:53And then you can start sort of just popping the tomatoes.
44:56Oh, we've got some butter beans.
45:04We're just going to add a little bit of lemon zest in here.
45:07It's starting to look really good.
45:08The juice from the tomatoes is coating the beans.
45:11So now we're just going to finish it with lots of fresh coriander and some lime juice.
45:17Cool.
45:17Shall we go see how Rich and Geoff are doing with those sauces?
45:20The best thing you can do is cook it nice and slowly and give it regular turning.
45:25Funny enough, it won the best sausage in New Zealand voted by the public.
45:29Look at these gents.
45:30Wow.
45:31Sensational.
45:32Look at the colour.
45:33Yeah, good colour.
45:33Unreal.
45:35Oh, I heard the pop as I cut into that.
45:37That's exactly what you're looking for.
45:42Shall we tuck in?
45:44Yeah.
45:45Oh my god.
45:45Fresh.
45:46Fresh.
45:46Mm.
45:47That lime.
45:48Yeah.
45:49First, that beautiful smokiness from the paprika and the wood smoke.
45:53Yeah.
45:54Just real savoury.
45:55Tomatoes.
45:56Just like sweet.
45:57You've got acid from the lime and the fragrant coriander.
46:01It's all working pretty well, eh?
46:03Yeah.
46:03Bit of chilli.
46:04Yeah.
46:05Wild venison, the hero ingredient that just keeps on giving.
46:08Yeah.
46:08Once again.
46:09But seriously, it's f***ing nice.
46:15A massive thanks to our major partner, Continuous Group, our retail partner, Hunting and Fishing
46:20New Zealand, and the rest of the sponsor family who allow us to produce quality outdoor television.
46:27This is me and my great track rival with GoPros.
46:30Hiya, me old mate.
46:32Got some crazy people out here, but anyway.
46:35How many times did you get stuck today?
46:38Zippo.
46:38New record.
46:40Trent looking forward to the trip?
46:42I am.
46:42I am.
46:43I really am.
46:45Thanks for watching.
46:48This has people arsevered and coming to Chi.
46:49Have you seen a new camera?
46:49I am going cheap.
