02:25holding down the port here whilst you're gone I think the thing that sets me apart
02:29from a lot of other candidates in this process it's the experience I've had
02:32I've grown the business since I was 17 I've done it on my own I made my first
02:36million by 25 and I want to make a lot more millions in the future YP graduates
02:41taking the young professionals brand and this new business to the next level
02:44with Lord sugar I think the rest of the candidates in the process should be
02:47worried about going up against me the reality is is that I'm the only one here
02:51with a business plan that's guaranteed for success by having Lord sugar as a
02:54business partner as a mentor would really be life-changing hoping for a
03:00smooth pitch 28 year old PR man Lawrence Rosenberg I've always enjoyed job

03:10grilling now it's the opportunity to let my business do the talking and
03:13hopefully I can make the right first impression delivering smarter faster and
03:18more transparent PR through intelligent automation the opportunity that I want to
03:23put forward is something that isn't something that's gonna make five or ten
03:26million this is something that will change how PR is done for good total
03:30five-year revenue projection 18 million pounds I'm really doing this for my
03:35wife my family you know I want to have that safe secure family life just best of
03:41luck like you're gonna smash it I'm so proud of you I'm really hard without my
03:45wife to be honest with you I love every moment with her and to be away from her
03:49for this amount of time has been unbelievably difficult I couldn't be more
03:55proud of you you're gonna make me cry it just means everything now you know that
04:00opportunity to get to the final and potentially win I just hope it goes how
04:04I think it's gonna go despite being the youngest candidate 21 year old Pasha
04:12Myhill has taken the process in her stride wise can't really describe the
04:17feeling of getting to the final five I just knew that if I was myself the
04:21confident bubbly Pasha I had a genuine feeling that yeah I would make it to the
04:26end she's hoping to recruit Lord sugar to her healthcare focused firm to me my
04:32business plan is good the potential and the growth margin it's unstoppable I want
04:37to build a reputable recruitment company that changes perceptions getting the
04:41investment from Lord sugar would be life-changing it would just be amazing to
04:46take that step at 21 doing something I absolutely love gross profit year to 804,000
04:54pounds I'm here to get to the end and ultimately be Lord sugar's next business
04:58partner with the most wins under his belt Priyash Bathia is hoping his bar business
05:07side hustle as the recipe for success my passion is obviously making people smile I'm a
05:15smiley person I had that energy when people are happy I feel happy as well
05:19busy bar is currently operating as a small mobile cocktail bar business going
05:23to these interviews I think I'm gonna be very nervous and anxious I think I'm
05:26just gonna be myself I bring a lot of positive energy anyway I just want to
05:29show you the world my business plan what I'm capable of year three my revenue is
05:351.1 million pounds I've turned something that is my hobby my passion into a
05:41business idea which is what life should be all about it's creating something you
05:44like and making money out of it 28 year old Karishma Vijay is chasing more than
05:54just a healthy glow with her beauty business when I was 18 I was diagnosed
06:01with severe cystic acne I genuinely felt so ugly and I let my skin define me so I
06:07looked around and when I found something that finally worked I told myself I'm gonna
06:12find the best version of this I'm gonna put it in a bottle and I'm gonna sell it
06:16one day to become a globally trusted skin care infused beauty brand known for its
06:21powerful ingredients a strong community and a viral digital presence my
06:25business has been around for five months I've turned over 50k that's not too bad
06:31that's not too bad hi I'm good babes how are you the last couple of years have been incredibly
06:40straining for my family financially we've struggled for such a long time we've just
06:45been moving home to home and that makes this very moment monumental for me I'm here now and I'm here
06:58to
06:58fight I am the most credible business person in this room I'm probably the strongest
07:096 a.m this is a huge day this could set up my business my career the nerves early yeah
07:23they're
07:23hitting I'm just nervous about not knowing what they're gonna ask me boys you know
07:28what my makeup's not finished I forgot my rings my lucky rings at home I
07:33actually don't know what to do with myself you reckon we can turn this car
07:36around Hilo a 28-story skyscraper in the heart of East London
08:04good morning good morning Lord sugar now as you know this is the 20th year of the process and to
08:12date I've invested 3.5 million into previous winners and one of you will be my next business partner now
08:21here's the thing I don't care whether you have an established business or just a seed of an idea
08:27as long as what you're bringing me has the potential to be big so I've asked some of my
08:34trusted advisors to assess both your plans and your personal credentials so please hand your business plans
08:42over to Karen and Tim thank you so good luck I'll see you in the boardroom tomorrow off you go
08:57thank you
08:57lying in white Lord Sugar's tough-talking team setting the record straight publishing pioneer Mike
09:06Suter do you want my opinion on boozy bar yeah I think it's a bit enough yeah boozy bar sounds
09:12like
09:12the kind of thing that my mum would get excited about unafraid to dig deep former boss of a billion
09:19pound media firm Claudine Collins I bought a bottle what is this rubbish that comes with it it's like
09:29for five-year-olds running the numbers Lord Sugar's longtime friend and associate Claude Littner other
09:38clothes just like a seat you can stand if you want pulling at any loose threads fashion brand founder
09:48Linda plant I just don't think you're ready for an investment I think someone needs to train you
09:53first I'm well trained I don't know you've got skills I just think it's all too limited for 250
09:58thousand pound investment can't believe we're here final five I know absolutely nervous right now
10:07gonna be a long day a long day of a good grilling but like you know that feeling in your
10:12stomach yeah
10:14feels like I'm going to throw up yeah I think he's gonna do well I think it's just so hard
10:31not to
10:31like the guy he's always just so smiling I mean let's see if that works with the interviewers hi Linda
10:38hello I don't think they're here to look at big smiles to be honest with you so Priya tell me
10:44about your business sure so my business plan is to create a personalized mobile bar as well as a
10:51ready-to-drink cocktail and mocktail product line to make it into a scalable national brand so it's not
10:57one business it's two businesses um essentially yes it's like you're splitting the focus on two very
11:05very different businesses right how risky does it make your business plan and risky but in life you
11:11should take risks yeah you should take risk but they need to be calculated this ready-to-drink product
11:16you've allocated 50,000 for launching this drink do you really think you can do that for 50,000 pounds
11:23um looking back on my plan I think I should I know I need to allocate a lot more money
11:27and well how much
11:28more um I reckon that's gonna cost around 150,000 so why did you put 50,000 and that was
11:34you've got
11:34no idea really what you're doing have you correct you're not going to produce a drink for 50,000 you
11:40haven't even got a recipe you haven't even got a manufacturer yes I agree and I don't like good at
11:45your day job do that try and build the boozy bar up forget the drink you're never gonna do it
11:50okay okay
11:54oh my god that couldn't go any worse oh here he comes guys that was actually shambles like literally oh
12:06my god she's the devil she actually is I just want to go up now I just don't like the
12:13waiting
12:13around it just builds up the tension and the nerves oh I just want to settle I just want to
12:18like do the
12:18first one and be settled Grishma you're a bit quiet right now what's happened I don't know
12:23nervous Grishma head up to Mike thank you good luck Grishma smash it you're gonna kill it
12:32she's got it in the bag she knows her business inside and out I'm sure she'll handle it like a
12:37champ
12:37yeah exactly good morning Mike take a seat please thank you sir Grishma please describe the business
12:47that you would like Lord Sugar to invest 250,000 pounds in so my business is a skincare infused beauty
12:55brand and you've got a degree in biomedical science right so you know a lot about this sector yeah and
13:02the lead product is an oil that you claim is a miracle cure for acne is that correct yes so
13:08look
13:08there are many rosehip oils on the market some are cheaper than yours some of them are more expensive
13:24which one of them is your miracle cure so I would say one of these three could be mine which
13:32one are
13:32you going to say is yours I would have to smell it okay I believe this one's mine was that
13:40a guess
13:41these ones may be darker in color but they lack potency I could tell from the smell immediately
13:45and I hope this one's mine if it's not mine and what if it's not yours I hope it is
13:49Mike I could be
13:50wrong well congratulations you've got it right oh we got someone else up Lawrence Claude will see
13:59you now here we go good luck adios guys see on the other side that'll be interesting because I think
14:06he's quite confident pleasure to meet you so Lawrence start off by telling me what the business is that
14:17you're pitching to Lord Sugar so the business idea is twofold it's a PR agency and the PR agency is
14:24underpinned by a technology which will improve the results the speed and the quality of the work
14:29and hopefully eventually it can be sold to other agencies as well um so obviously it'll come as no
14:35surprise to you that I've read your business plan yes and I get a bit of a shock really because
14:41the fact
14:42is that the investment that Lord Sugar is making is 250,000 pounds that's correct okay but that's not
14:48correct in terms of what you're seeking yeah so you are asking for a funding requirement which
14:54is 5.5 million before we even start you've excluded yourself from this whole process it's not it's not
15:02funny it's very serious you are laughing that isn't up front but you're saying 500,000 at the very least
15:08is up front isn't it if I want to grow the business at the speed which I'm suggesting but I
15:12can do it
15:13slower I wanted to grow it at a fast pace that's not what this whole process about I'm not asking
15:18for 5.5 million up front that's okay okay show me where you've got a profit loss account which
15:24shows 250,000 pounds start show me I can't first of all I can't see a profit loss account anywhere
15:30there there's the financial model are you joking are you joking you want me to look at that I
15:34understand but I can't read it I can't read you can you read that I understand but that it is
15:40all
15:40there the investment is 250,000 I don't know how we get past that to be honest with you I
15:45mean
15:45you want to argue with Lord sugar you can okay Lawrence good luck thank you very much I really
15:50appreciate the time hello everyone hi Lawrence oh I loved it he's gonna invest all the money
16:06himself now the car crash the problem is is it's a tech business and it requires a lot of investment
16:13and I wanted to show that I was being ambitious by sort of getting it going as quickly as possible
16:17but it does need more than the 250,000 and I know what I was trying to do I was
16:21trying to show ambition
16:22but if he doesn't want to hear it I can't change that yeah Pasha Claudine is ready for you now
16:33nice to meet you nice to meet you take a seat thank you so before I delve into your business
16:40plan
16:40tell me a bit about your job now so I'm a principal consultant um within a recruitment company and um
16:49I'm
16:49the top biller and yeah I've made a name for myself well done good for you thank you tell me
16:55succinctly about the business that you want Lord sugar to invest in so my business is a recruitment
17:01company within the private care sector and the name of your business and call yeah it's a body part
17:10if you say it in a yeah how else and and call and call and call and call yeah you
17:19do say in your CV
17:20your key skills is social media marketing tell me what the difference is between LinkedIn Instagram
17:27and TikTok well LinkedIn is a business tool so why then would you put pictures like this up
17:34on LinkedIn because that doesn't scream to me the person that I want to recruit for my care home
17:41I can understand where you're coming from but then saying you're a social media marketing yeah that's
17:47probably a bit of an exaggeration the business that I'd like Lord Sugar's investment in is a graduate
17:54recruitment company which is a natural evolution of my existing business which is currently working in
17:58the school lever and apprenticeship market from what I'm reading the business for Lord Sugar's
18:03investment relies heavily on the infrastructure of the current business YP young professionals
18:10yeah but you make it very clear in your business plan that the current business is not part of the
18:17deal so what I'm doing because I've already got a team in place that know our clients very well
18:21they know how the events are running young professionals aren't they they're going their time is going to be
18:25split across both businesses which are you yeah you've been trialing it for nine months that right
18:30yeah so do you possibly expect Lord Sugar to invest in YP grads when it's so intermixed with young
18:38professionals you're not going to propose that to him are you that's obviously not a viable option for
18:43Lord Sugar it's a non-starter oh here he comes how was it well oh what is that silence about
18:52it was
18:54very clear to me that Lord Sugar wants everything and not a new graduate business how do you know
19:00that you know she said that look they're technically the same company he's going to want half of
19:05everything so that's a big decision I've got to make and yeah Priyash Mike will see you now
19:11oh God get ready for a fight my friends guys good luck mate I reckon he's dressed
19:21listen Priyash always backs himself but I think that Mike is going to give him a really tough time
19:27hello take a seat thank you so Priyash yeah have you registered your company um I haven't no so I
19:37mean
19:37is it really a business if it's not registered um at the moment I do operate as a small mobile
19:42bar
19:42service for small events does it have accounts sorry accounts no it does not so yeah it's not
19:49registered a company's house no and you don't keep a set of accounts correct so I would call that a
19:56hobby then rather than a business yeah listen I'd like you to demonstrate to me now what is so special
20:02about your business I'd like you to make me a cocktail no as in which which ingredients sorry
20:12or oh the ingredients yeah stay there
20:27I'd like you to make me a paloma paloma okay not made fun of those for years um is there
20:36any ice or
20:37should I use with that there's ice there oh great fruit juice how much tequila are you putting in a
20:46double shot normally when I do do these recipes I do normally search them up beforehand because
20:52obviously I can't remember every single cocktail I'm only asking you to remember a paloma and what's
20:58that okay this is contrary and then I'm just gonna put some great fruit juice in is this where you
21:04do
21:04your flare thing oh no I'm not flare bartender oh that's disappointing yeah surely you can do some
21:09tricks no no I can only do like things like my first paloma of the day
21:27no paloma I've ever had in my entire life has Cointreau in it ah however it's drinkable thank you
21:37okay thank you for your time enjoy your drink
21:48the thing that I'm persuaded about is the social media so if in fact you've got people who are really
21:55famous if they start endorsing it I think that's worth a lot yeah absolutely so because of my like
22:03history with social media I've spent the last seven years reviewing products and I've been so honest
22:07about it with hundreds of thousands of people across the world hundreds of thousands yeah is
22:12that an exaggeration I would even say millions millions yeah but let me just move on to these
22:17numbers then are you telling me you've made a hundred and sixteen thousand pound net profit
22:21no that's not that's not what that is but in terms of what that is what is it what is
22:26that number
22:26that's how much we'd make profit here yeah profit yeah when you profit yeah but that's not what you're
22:34making what are you making do you know yeah I do know actually that would be profit if I was
22:38to sell
22:39five thousand units but this is numbers are my weakness Claude I'm going to be honest and I know
22:45you're here to look for the numbers and I know that you can see through that but I'm feeling confident
22:49about the numbers I can present to Lord Sugar and I feel like he'd be confident that I can grow
22:53those
22:54numbers very quickly look you've spoken very very well but for me I like to see probably hard numbers
23:00thank you for your time thanks a lot
23:05my numbers made no sense to me or to him
23:10here she is how did it go that couldn't have gone any worse no yeah there's no excuse me saying
23:17I'm new to business and sorry I don't have the numbers for you so how are you how are you
23:23feeling
23:23Karishma not good guys
23:34hello Claude my pleasure it's lovely to get a handshake thank you how are you i'm very well thank you
23:42you've said in your business plan that you communicate like a smart operator who cuts the
23:47nonsense and gets results and yet the business plan is 75 pages long full of jargons and acronyms
23:55did you actually write this or was this written by AI no I i wrote this so I was having
24:00a conversation
24:01with the AI to help it improve my work and my ideas and I have all of the logs you're
24:05a PR man
24:06right you know you are engaging this is anything but engaging um I mean PR mainly it's about who
24:14you know at various publications and media so do you have contacts that like the financial times
24:20yourself yeah yeah so who's your most senior contact at the FT at the FT um I'm just trying
24:27to think through the the the FT I I do know people but I'm trying to remember their name um
24:31Laura um
24:32um oh I've forgotten her last name off the top of my head okay don't worry I can't know her
24:38that
24:38well no I've worked with her on a story but it has been a little while I'm happy to list
24:42off
24:43contacts at other places that I know but it's just whether you want to hear that no not at the
24:47moment
24:47thanks if you can go into a little bit more detail about how you intend to run this business so
24:54working
24:54in the recruitment sector recruiting for care homes and nursing homes I've realized there's a massive gap in
25:00the market with client facing we're not meeting our clients we're not having that face relationship
25:04um having spent a lot of time in hospital myself I think it's something that's very worthy but the
25:10whole point is to actually provide that service yeah but also end up with a profit of course I don't
25:16know whether the word profit loss account means anything to you no those are absolutely key things
25:21so I think the business plan is woeful yeah because it doesn't contain any of the things that
25:27someone like me would look for of course we've had two opportunities now to show them who we are
25:35I'm hoping that by the end of the day three out of four of those people I've managed to impress
25:41yeah I mean like we all knew these interviews were going to be absolutely brutal and I think
25:45with claude you know it I can't change anything about it but that's about as bad as it could go
25:50oh krishma linda is ready to see you now oh off you go good luck good luck krishma listen linda
25:58listen
26:02one of your biggest challenges is you're going on the medical side because you're curing
26:09acne well that's one of your claims to fame right but rosehip and aloe vera they're nothing special
26:15are they there are products on the market similar to what i have but you're claiming ah look i had
26:21terrible acne and now it's all cured it's a medical claim there yeah nowhere nowhere has this backed it
26:27up with the oil it's not just acne there's a huge umbrella of things that help i'm not buying it
26:33yours
26:33isn't special so you're going to scale 55 000 in year one to 850 000 in year three do you
26:41think that's
26:42overly ambitious i don't think so we've currently done 55 000 pounds in sales in just five months but
26:47you haven't detailed that in the business planning there's such gaping holes i've given a month by
26:52breakdown i think you've come with a whole load of waffle yeah you talk the talk you you i don't
26:58think i was allowed to really talk the talk in this interview what i've taken from this you have missed
27:02so much out the interview is over uh thank you for your time linda
27:11hello karishma are you okay genuinely that went as bad as it possibly could have gone
27:16and it is what it is but on to the next mate on to the next i'm shitting myself now
27:22i don't want to meet her priyash claudine is ready to see you now thank you oh good luck good
27:28luck
27:28that's a lot mate have fun thank you thanks guys
27:34claudine is a little bit kinder so hopefully for him it's all good hi priyash hi claudine how are you
27:41i'm fine how are you oh good thank you good nice to meet you nice to meet you take a
27:45seat thank you
27:46um prish let's talk a bit about your proposed business so how many events have you run in the
27:51past year um so the events that i currently do are only very small events like private parties
27:57less than like 50 60 people what's your turnover around about 7 500 usually right so your events
28:05just family and friends correct yes and like small private parties you've said that your marketing
28:10budget is 12 000 pounds a year what on earth do you expect to get for that so a lot
28:16of my marketing
28:17i want to do is work with event planners and partnerships with like djs because i feel at the
28:21moment that there is a gap in the market where who would you call you're hosting a party at home
28:25there isn't like someone that you would just randomly call oh i know this good bartender i think
28:30there are loads of mobile bars around i definitely don't think that there is a gap in the market
28:36and they are even mobile bars with the same name as yours do you know that oh no i didn't
28:43there's a
28:44very big boozy bar in hampshire and there's also one in ireland so
28:55so you know that clothing was a nice one but she's it was tougher than expected
28:59i think i'm just gonna laugh because i don't want to cry i'm actually done with this
29:13i wonder how lawrence is getting along with mike one thing i can tell about mike take a seat
29:18he hates a schmoozer
29:22lawrence yes you've got a good track record in pr correct i like to think so yeah you were one
29:28of
29:28the 30 under 30 pr's yeah i was very proud of that that was a big achievement for me and
29:34my family
29:34lawrence your business plan is detailed thank you rigorous thank you and comprehensive i appreciate
29:40that but it's a master class in how to make a really glamorous industry sound like a tax return
29:47i don't think seriously it's one of the most tedious business plans i've ever read that's quite all right
29:53so what will this ai platform that you're planning to build what will it do it's going to give a
29:59client
30:00a portal where they can access all of their assets and basically help them to do their jobs faster
30:04better quicker and deliver better results as well have you built it you have i have not built it yet
30:08that's why i'm here asking for the investment you've got a chief technology officer to lead the technical
30:15development of the platform correct and is he your business partner he is not my business partner is
30:19he an employee he would be under that model yes so you can't build it because you don't have the
30:25skills to do it no would lord sugar be better backing your technology guy no absolutely not
30:32thanks launch thank you very much it's been a real pleasure thank you
30:39you're currently in a hole that your business is losing money you're aware of that or uh yeah i know
30:45that my finances i mean they're not the best but it's i've probably just gone a bit too happy spending
30:50being young and we hire out huge venues in leicester square we've got the o2 hired out this july for
30:55our big events and unless you can manage to get control of your existing business i think you're
31:00going to be in trouble but i'd be amazed if your business can't be turned around with alan sugar the
31:06only way that lord sugar would be interested is getting a 50 share of your existing business
31:11to make it right and what do you think he could bring to me if i'm looking for someone to
31:16really take
31:17the business to the next level i know i'm doing almost around a million you know i want to get
31:20to
31:2010 20 million the thing is there's no doubt that he's got a history of growing businesses enormously i
31:26think that he'd be a fantastic partner for you but ultimately it's your decision got a big decision to
31:31make yeah yeah your business plan it was just seven pages long yeah it kind of looked to me like
31:40you
31:40could have jotted it all down on a napkin what is your competitive advantage it's no good saying recruit
31:46with more heart more style more efficiency they're just meaningless cliches they're not
31:51meaningless cliches because the short time that i've worked in the industry i've understood what
31:57the gap is in the market there's not enough substance here there's not enough grit a seven
32:01page business plan how is that i do i do regret not not putting more into it i really do
32:06that's because
32:07you're inexperienced yeah she's brutal she taught facts i can't lie like she said you're inexperienced
32:19but i just sat there like took it like a champ we've got the trauma together bond we've got the
32:24trauma bond yeah forever you know what like she says it how it is yeah i mean she doesn't beat
32:29around
32:29the bush but still kushma claudine will see you now good luck my girl come on claudine
32:37she will she will i know it oh i want to ask you a bit about yourself really because
32:45you obviously have a huge drive and determination how's the motivation and the drive come to you
32:51my dad was at one point a very financially stable man now we have very little to get through each
32:57month
32:57and it's why i'm here because for me at the core of my business plan is rent is due on
33:02the 22nd today
33:03my rent is you today it's been my thought um and it's sad for me that we're moving every six
33:08months
33:08money is just such a big issue for us right now but i want to give him the world everything
33:13i do my
33:14dad's at the very core of it i want to do him very proud in this life koreshma i think
33:18that your dad
33:19and your family would be so proud of you and i wish you all the best thank you claudine you've
33:27absolutely made my day thank you i wanted to get to meet you today thank you thank you bye bye
33:36on your business plan the 250 000 for that lord sugar is going to give you it's going to be
33:41immediately consumed it's to build the technology but i as i do you think he's going to be happy with
33:46that that the 200 000 just immediately gone would lord sugar rather have 50 of a business worth 250
33:5150 000 or five percent of a business worth 50 million this isn't about his ego well it's about
33:56about yours if you think this business is going to be worth 50 million i wonder what lawrence is getting
34:01up to with linda i reckon she could get criminals to confess their crimes oh yeah for sure so let's
34:08talk about the time frame yes because all these ai features can take a considerable amount of time to
34:13develop what if they don't work what are you going to do i mean what if i walk out of
34:19here and i get
34:19hit by the car you know you know i'm interviewing you for 250 000 pounds do not give me cocky
34:27answers
34:27like that yes it is you've come here for an investment yes 250 000 i i apologize yes thank you
34:35i just want
34:35to be very clear though that if there is not the appetite from lord sugar to build the technology i
34:41am
34:41willing to scale back and create the agency first i'm not coming in here with a rod saying that i
34:46have to do this but yeah you have you should have actually come in here with a business plan that
34:50was
34:50attainable but that's the mistake i believe that there's the interview is over thank you very much i
34:55really appreciate the time so thank you very much goodness me
35:04that was uh fiery um how did that go mate well suffice to say i don't think it could have
35:12gone
35:12much worse she basically was just calling me cocky and she got really really cross with me at one
35:17point really really cross and i was like listen i'm sorry if that's the way i'm coming across but
35:21that's not my intention yeah mate it was a really tough interview that was not fun like it was not
35:26fun at
35:26all free ash claude wants to see good luck mate see you soon i feel for the boy oh man
35:35it's gonna be
35:35such a grilling hi there come here please take a seat sure okay priesh when i first saw your business
35:46plan yeah um i thought that i'd be meeting somebody sensible because you're working for pwc and what i found
35:54was not that at all oh okay okay year two you you've got a hundred thousand pound profit and year
36:00three you've kind of embarrassed me by saying that you've got revenue of 1.1 million and 500 000
36:06pound profit well um because the fact is i'm in year two and three we'll be entering the retail world
36:10of
36:10supermarkets and things like that you've got to get into it you've got you've got to show me how you're
36:14going to get into it yeah you mentioned supermarkets though they're they're just waiting for you yeah
36:17supermarkets they're not they're not it's a crowded place i'm willing to put in all that extra work
36:22i'm sure you haven't given me enough to go on to give me the confidence sorry i just you've brought
36:28the failure on yourself
36:31you are quite the man you made your first million at 25 you have a holiday home in marbella and
36:38you
36:38joined the institute of directors at 17 and you said that you have time to go to the gym three
36:44times
36:45a week to shop in harrods to go skiing why on earth do you need lord sugar so it's a
36:50very good
36:51question i think um with lord sugar he can really mentor me take me under his wing and um you
36:56know
36:56help me get to where i want to get a lot faster and how have you found this process i
37:01found it quite
37:02difficult in a lot of cases you know i've got aspergers and i've got dyslexia and um i sometimes
37:08feel like but i've said things and it's come across the wrong way in certain situations because of my
37:13aspergers it took me a good couple of tasks free tasks to settle in and really get to know people
37:17because i was kind of in my shell a little bit yeah how did you find living with all those
37:20people
37:20it was a big shock to the system i adapted quite well i've made some really great friends for life
37:25i
37:25think being oh that's good um dan you you really are an incredible young man with what you've um achieved
37:32and i just want to wish you all the best yeah thank you for your time claudine i really appreciate
37:35it thank you okay take care dan and just a question what what do you think i should do
37:40because i'm i'm in a really difficult position i've never known anyone to fail partnering with lord
37:46sugar he makes a huge success of the people that he partners with
37:55i'm going to see how the ballroom goes tomorrow when i get into that ballroom tomorrow i'm going to
37:59listen to what he's got to say and i'll know in that moment hmm well good luck dan you do
38:05have a
38:05lot of thinking to do yeah we've got a really big day tomorrow in the boardroom so i think we
38:09should
38:09head back to the house yes i think so too let's do it guys guys
38:30i feel like i've put up a really good fight you know i've backed myself throughout the process and
38:33i had to do it yesterday so feeling like i've got a chance if not a big one i've still
38:38got a lot to
38:38think about i've got a lot of things going around in my head right now this 250 000 pounds could
38:44change
38:45my life and i hope that he picks me good morning good morning good morning well look i do appreciate
39:02your input into this final five 20 years claude and you look the same you really do
39:12well let's start off shall we so priesh has two parts to his business one is a mobile bar
39:20and the second is a line of cocktails which are ready to drink okay he's a lovely effervescent man
39:29but the business plan is incredibly weak it's not really there at the moment he does about 48 events
39:39a year and he makes about 156 pounds per event oh my goodness he wants to extend i mean there's
39:46a side
39:46hustle and then there's a side hustle yeah okay claude he's got a job at price water house it looks
39:53like
39:53a good solid job and i thought he was going to be a serious individual then i turned to his
39:57um mixing
39:58thing and i thought no this guy's a joker he's going into an industry where he doesn't know very
40:03much about it um so the interview didn't last very long especially when i looked at some of his numbers
40:07turnover 500 000 in year two 100 000 pound profit year three one million turnover 500 000 pound profit
40:14you know but believe it or not if you look at his cv he's got mathematics and economics degree
40:20he might have bought it on amazon he's not a silly man no he's got a good job yeah so
40:27i think that he
40:28should stick with a job get promoted and in the sideline weekends he should grow his business so
40:33obviously his uh plan hasn't left anyone shaken or stirred no no should we move on to someone else then
40:41karishma yeah let's go on to her yeah karishma has a skin care product she used it because she had
40:50as a as a teenager she had acne and she found all about acne i grew up there
40:58so i think that karishma has two real advantages she's very skilled at social media she creates very
41:04compelling content there and the second thing is she has a personal story she sells through tiktok and
41:10through other social media platforms well i was completely taken by her instagram and i did
41:17actually buy the product and i really liked it i mean look i'm like 75 to be fair every task
41:25that's
41:25involved social media she has performed really well so that makes sense actually and she does have a
41:30biomedical science degree as well with a speciality in dermatology claude what do you have to say well i
41:36liked her she spoke well she had a lot to say for herself i personally think that the industry
41:40is a very crowded market and everyone makes these great claims about what it's going to do for you
41:46that's my view but i think that she's got a following so she's got influencers and i think
41:52that's the key all right let's move along so lawrence his main claim to fame is he runs the worst
41:58jewish football club in london right which i should imagine since he's been away for about 11 weeks
42:05he might be top of the league so lawrence is a very ambitious young pr man um he's been working
42:14in pr for
42:15several years and indeed he was named recently as one of the 30 under 30 pr's and that is not
42:22to be
42:23sniffed at what he would like to use your investment for is to launch his own pr company and that
42:29makes
42:30sense and then to have that underpinned by an ai driven tech platform to take a lot of the manual
42:38labor out of pr work he's convinced he can take that ai platform and he can quickly i don't get
42:45that you know pr is all about you know pr well you would know i mean look look i'm sitting
42:51here now
42:51yeah so i said exactly that to him it's about being engaging his business plan was 75 pages
42:59of monotony you think it was done by ai yes claude there's some talk of him wanting something
43:07like five million pounds yeah well um what is the matter with the boy i mean on page four he
43:12declares
43:13he wants 5.5 million of which um he needs a substantial amount to start him off i i got
43:18on
43:18really badly with him and when i challenged him he said well i could do it for 250 000
43:22but his whole business plan is predicated on 5.5 million so essentially i pretty much threw him
43:29out you need to come back and win this process 23 times yeah 23 times yeah all right let's go
43:36next to
43:37pasha yeah well so she wants to go into nursing homes and things like that recruiting things like carers
43:43and people like that yes but she her approach is really a personal one where she's going to the care
43:47homes try and explain how she's got a personal touch and she then hopes that through that where's the
43:53money there well yes where's the business plans only seven pages yeah seven pages yeah it's like lawrence
44:00is on a zen pic maybe yeah i did buy into her and she's really young and i would never
44:07have known to
44:07be honest that she was 21 the way that she's speaking and she's very confident very confident she's
44:14obviously impressed all of us just the way that she comes across so look i wouldn't rule her out if
44:19anybody was going to make a success of a business like this i think it would be pasha all right
44:24let's
44:25move on to dan yeah so it's two companies it's young professionals that's the existing company
44:30and the company he wants to partner you with alan is yp grads that's a new company he's done a
44:37trial for
44:38nine months on that company and turned over 55 000 but um yeah therein lies the problem to do a
44:46trial
44:47is using the existing staff to do it yeah so he's trying to tell me that this separate business is
44:52going to run separately there's no way so one of the assets that he has within his business is he
44:58has a
44:58very very deep database because he works with schools yeah and that's one of the real benefits of
45:04putting the two businesses together because clearly he's able to track people from the age
45:11where they're starting to leave school through into their first job and or into graduates and then
45:15beyond claude well my feeling about him is that he's an entrepreneur okay he started a business from
45:21nothing when he was young obviously i can't see the the background i can see the last couple of years
45:27where he's gone from making a profit to a situation where currently he's losing money right the problem
45:33is i think he's taken his eye off the ball he's got very very high expenses so when he runs
45:39a an
45:39event for example it can cost him 120 000 pounds to hire the o2 center i see so he's got
45:45to get a
45:45handle on these enormous costs of events costing a hundred thousand pounds to put on all right well
45:52thanks for all of that you've given me a lot of things to think about and i appreciate it once
45:57again
45:58in this 20th year so thank you could you send the candidates in please
46:22well i've had a discussion with them and i'm going to drill down a little bit more with uh each
46:30of
46:30you so starting with you lawrence you put forward a a 70-page document is that right a little bit
46:37longer
46:38but roughly yes did you write it yourself or was it done by ai i wrote everything by myself and
46:44then
46:44i put it through ai to build through the ideas but uh i was told by some of my advisors
46:50that you were
46:51endless waffling in the business plan um in fairness i was talking about sort of funding cycles within
46:57technology so i also wanted to make sure there was a lot of sections in there and i was worried
47:01about
47:01not covering points off so yes i do accept that it was quite long well this is well this is
47:05one of the
47:06faults with this ai stuff you know everything that i put in there i edited before it went into the
47:10business plan this was not just the point is is that you're talking about wanting 5.5 million pounds
47:18i mean are you having a laugh or what so that was future funding so it was very clear in
47:22the financial
47:23model that this was not up front funding no but i told you right in the very beginning my money
47:27money is a kind of like a seed money if you like yes and all the other very successful winners
47:33in the
47:34past have taken that money and i tell them one thing that's it you didn't get any more not from
47:40you right and you just move on and you build a business on it and they have successfully built
47:46businesses on it but this is nonsense if you wanted me to run walk before i run and focus on
47:52the pr
47:53side they would certainly suggest that of any of you here really yes for sure i wanted something
47:58i believed in but you know i'm also believe in building a pr agency with that target market right
48:03okay a lot of a lot of words it sounds like my school report difficulty this is not school i
48:10know
48:11right okay so pasha yes um unlike lawrence here who came up with a 70-odd page document yours was
48:22a
48:22seven pages right some of the figures i was told were a bit undercooked marketing budget is way too
48:28low yeah that was underestimated but the numbers that i've got in that are based off of what i do
48:34and at the moment you work in a company where you're a recruiter yeah yeah i'm a principal consultant
48:39and are you known in the care home industry personally yes i would say so i've created a big
48:46clientele and i have managers that have my number on speed dial so okay you also talk about
48:52the business plan hinges on highly personalized in-person relationships yeah the competition
48:58against regional and national giants will be fierce won't it that is correct and i think recruitment you
49:05know there there are so many recruitment companies that you know it can be hard to stand out but with
49:10the knowledge and the experience that i've got i know that you know i could i could take it off
49:15if i
49:16was to start my own company i know that that wouldn't be an issue okay all right let's move
49:21along now dan my advisors tell me that your company's losing money yeah i think it's not that we're spending
49:29money and losing money the money is coming into the bank account but i need to just get a bit
49:32of a better
49:33hold on saving the money and cutting down on our costs a little bit i mean we hire a lot
49:37of huge venue
49:38hires out no no no no no no then are your sales bigger than than the venue costs uh they
49:44are yes
49:45so what what doesn't it show in your accounts as a profit because i'm i'm spending the money
49:51wait what are you spending it on so it means we pay houses in marbella or what i did take
49:56100 grand
49:57dividends um last year and i also took a it was around a 75 000 pound salary and so it
50:02is a profitable
50:03business then right okay so now let me move on to you want to go from yp to ypg and
50:11ypg
50:13is graduates yeah yeah and you've done a trial on that and the trial that you've done must be using
50:19your existing staff our existing staff and existing uh a select number of our existing client base yeah
50:25therein lies the problem i wouldn't be investing in you with two companies because i need your
50:30concentration on one entity so how's your feeling about that i came into this process under the
50:38impression that i was going to be putting forward this new business and i don't think i'd be being
50:41true to myself if i gave you a straight answer right now whether it was a yes or a no
50:45oh right
50:46now karishma tell me what is your miracle cure product so we've started with our rosehip to the
50:53rescue oil this is a rosehip seed oil that's been extracted from a rare chilean species does it work
50:59it really works we've had we've had incredible look me in the eyes and tell me it works i can
51:04tell you you're not a snake oil salesman no there's a lot of competition out there in the market i'm
51:09very aware that i'd have to bring something very very interesting and very very functional performative
51:15to the market to make any kind of dent you do know that i had a skincare company yes lord
51:20sugar you
51:20are preaching to the converted my dear yeah what i've forgotten about skincare you haven't even learned
51:25yeah absolutely i agree okay the thing is is that i know that i can succeed again if i wanted
51:32to
51:33and i need you to tell me why i should have you as my business partner because at the moment
51:39you
51:39haven't really got much of a business right yeah so in five months kishkin has done incredibly well
51:47we've made an average of around 10 to 12 000 a month what was your costs the costs are around
51:51five thousand pounds a month and that's you is it uh it includes my assistants my warehouse staff is
51:58your warehouse staff one of your is your dad isn't it somebody my dad helps me in the warehouse here
52:03and there does a bit of packing yeah he does he really believes in the business and he's gone viral
52:06for it um on the internet are you big on the internet i have worked really hard over the last
52:11seven years
52:12to create have you got lots of followers yes lord sugar how many got around half a million really
52:18and what what platform uh on tiktok and i have over 300 000 on instagram really yes very good more
52:25than me oh right okay now priesh let me hear about you you've got your mobile bar correct
52:35you're a mixologist um well just where did you study mixology the university of weatherspoons or something
52:42and now i've just learned the skill at home see you're not an unintelligent person at all you've got
52:47great job at pwc correct and then you want to leave that company and then start this mobile bar
52:55business and that's a massive risk over the years i've been doing loads of numerous events for private
53:01parties up to like 60 to 70 people but i want to get into the large corporate industries for example
53:06like there's a lot more networking events happening listen young man i admire your enthusiasm and
53:13entrepreneurialism whilst holding up a great job my advice to you is please do not give up your day job
53:20and i do sincerely wish you the very very best of luck but unfortunately it is with regret that you're
53:27fired thank you so much for the opportunity little sugar variance frady tim if you do need cocktails do
53:33reach out to me thank you good luck guys good luck so now i have to think about the four
53:43of you
53:43that are sitting here and the potential lawrence that's a little sugar i don't have any confidence
53:52in your business why put forward a business plan that has got numbers in it like 5.5 million is
53:59nonsense lord sugar the one thing quiet okay no problem lawrence i'm sorry to say it is big regret
54:06you're fired thank you lord sugar thank you baroness brady thank you tim it's been the experience of a
54:10lifetime okay good luck guys
54:18now i've left with a bit of a dilemma i'm going to send you three outside and then i'm going
54:24to consult
54:24with baroness brady and tim and then i'm going to decide which two of you will be going through
54:31to the grand final off you go thank you so much
54:39well there you are young karishma is very very impressive isn't she yeah look i like her
54:45i've liked her all along she's such a strong candidate yeah karishma's charismatic she's really
54:51confident and if she can convince you that she's thinking as big as her chat is then maybe she could
54:57be the one and pasha is also very impressive this would be a real start from scratch thing i think
55:04the thing that really interests me with pasha is that she is coming as a fresh face and one of
55:10the
55:10things about the apprentice is about the opportunity to spot talent before anybody else did yeah bit of
55:15confusion with dan look it's true that dan has got a credible business but as claude has pointed out
