00:07In March, the Metropolitan Police announced it will resume arresting suspected Palestine
00:14action supporters. This is as a High Court battle over the ban on the group Rumbles On.
00:21The force had paused arresting demonstrators after judges ruled that the government ban on
00:27the group under terrorism legislation was unlawful. But the force then decided to resume as an appeal
00:35against the decision is likely to take months. A spokesperson for Defend Our Juries said the
00:41protest against the prescription of Palestine action has grown beyond a question of the right
00:46to protest. So far, more than 2,700 people have been arrested for allegedly supporting
00:53Palestine action. Protesters have arranged mass rallies where demonstrators hold up signs saying
00:59I oppose genocide, I support Palestine action, aiming to overwhelm the criminal justice system
01:06with the sheer number of cases. And the trials of hundreds of people accused of holding up the
01:12placards have been put on hold, while the High Court battle over the ban continues. Prescription makes it
01:19a criminal offence to belong to or support Palestine action, punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
