00:01Older people in West Yorkshire can now get protection against a virus which can cause
00:06serious lung infections. All adults aged 75 and over, and people living in a care home
00:12for older adults, are now eligible for the NHS respiratory syncytial virus vaccine, also
00:18known as RSV. While symptoms are mild for many people, the virus can be severe in older
00:24adults, causing pneumonia, bronchitis and flare-ups of existing lung disease and other conditions.
00:30This can make it difficult to breathe and leave some older people requiring hospital treatment.
00:35Eligible West Yorkshire residents can book appointments through their GP. People living
00:40in care homes can speak to staff about the vaccination.
