00:00Plans for a new war memorial honouring Sikh soldiers have entered a public consultation phase.
00:06The proposal would see a statue installed in a West London park
00:10and would commemorate those who served in the British Indian Army.
00:15More than 83,000 Sikh soldiers died across the two world wars.
00:20The memorial is backed by the British Sikh Association
00:23and funded with around £2 million of private money.
00:27It would also reference the Battle of Saragari,
00:31which is widely regarded as one of history's most famous last stands.
00:36Local people are being asked for their views before a decision is made.
00:40If approved, construction could begin this summer and finish next year.
