00:01A caretaker at an unregistered Batu Caves children's home, Retna Velu, 25, pleaded guilty on Thursday to 15 charges of
00:11sexual assault and acts against the order of nature involving five boys.
00:15Twelve charges relate to physical and non-physical sexual assault on boys aged 8 to 13 between November 2025 and
00:24March 27, 2026, under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, carrying up to 20 years jail, whipping and fines.
00:34He also faces three charges under Section 377C of the Penal Code for acts against the order of nature, punishable
00:44by five to 20 years jail and whipping.
00:47The court denied bail and fixed May 21 for sentencing.
00:51In the same courts, homeowner S. Varlan, 31, pleaded not guilty to four physical sexual assault charges involving boys aged
01:0013 to 16 at the welfare home and a premises in Kalumpang between March 2019 and March 2026.
01:09He was granted RM30,000 bail with June 10 set for case mention.
