For the last two years, a stray dog named Jon has been greeting motorists along with traffic cops manning the streams of vehicles at the bustling stretch of Jalan Parlimen on weekday mornings.

The young beige coloured canine will "work" along with any traffic police officer on duty at the intersections that lead to both Taman Tugu and Bukit Aman.

00:03He has no badge, no walkie-talkie, and definitely no salary.
00:07But for the past two years, a stray dog named John has been turning up for work like clockwork,
00:13side by side with the traffic police at one of Kuala Lumpur's busiest intersections.
00:20Videos of this unlikely partnership recently went viral, and it's not hard to see why.
00:25Every weekday, from as early as 7am, John arrives at the intersection near Taman Tugu and Bukit Aman,
00:33often before the officers themselves.
00:35When duty calls, he takes his place right beside whoever is on shift that morning, loyal as any partner could
00:41be.
00:44When the officer moves to a new spot within the junction, John follows.
00:49No leash needed, no command required.
00:51John does push boundaries sometimes, letting out the occasional bark at passing vehicles.
01:03But one gentle hand gesture from the officer, and he's back in line.
01:09John's fan club doesn't end with the police force.
01:12Regular morning commuters have taken a shine to him too.
01:15Some pass treats through the officer's hands.
01:18Others park their motorcycles just to give him a nice meal.
01:24Or a quick scratch behind the ear before heading off.
01:27Officers on duty also make it a point to bring some treats, in case the dog shows up for duty.
01:33Nobody quite knows how the name John came about.
01:36Nobody knows where he goes when the 9am shift ends, or where he spends his weekends.
01:41But like clockwork, every Monday morning, he's back at his post.
