A future easter egg to 2004 independent comedy Napoleon Dynamite may appear in 1983 techno thriller Wargames. Matthew Broderick plays a high school student who has a computer & modem at home (unusual for the time period). While dialing up a remote system he inadvertently patches in to the government's new artificial intelligence mainframe, entrusted with managing the country's military weaponry. The machine invites the young hacker to play one of several games. After choosing "Global Thermonuclear War" the system proceeds to run a simulation that brings the world to the brink of armageddon.

At 18 minutes into Wargames you can see the easter egg. David makes fun of his teacher and is sent to the Principal's office. There in the waiting room, a bulletin board hangs on the wall with what appears to be a sketch of actor Jon Heder, star of Napoleon Dynamite. I also thought the unique style of the glass on the window of the principal's door a possible clue involving light. The independently produced Napoleon Dynamite was touted as a great box office success for the spinoff distributor at the time.

Additionally, actor Barry Corbin plays General Jack Beringer in Wargames and acted with Heder in 2021 comedy Funny Thing About Love.

00:00We're talking about knowledge of the future in movies, YouTube channel, Easter Egg Psychic.
00:05In this video, I'll share an apparent, fascinating future Easter egg reference to the 2004 independent
00:14comedy, Napoleon Dynamite.
00:17And you can see this in 1983 techno-thriller War Games.
00:23Now, this film was directed by John Badham and featured a cast with Matthew Broderick,
00:30Ally Sheedy, Dabney Coleman, John Wood, Michael Madsen, James Tolkien, and Art LaFleur.
00:38The story of War Games shows some relatively early examples of computer hacking.
00:45Broderick plays a high school student who owns a PC, which was very unusual at the time.
00:52And what's more, he has a modem which allows his computer to connect to others.
00:59He goes about patching into the local high school network and changes his friend and classmates'
01:07grades, for example.
01:08He also uses the machine to play computer games.
01:12In the process, he inadvertently dials up an unlisted system that turns out to be the
01:19U.S. government's latest artificial intelligence mainframe.
01:25When the young hacker puts in a request to play a game of global thermonuclear war, the computer
01:32starts a simulation that convinces the military personnel that the Russians have actually launched
01:42nuclear missiles toward America.
01:45At around 18 minutes, Broderick's character finds himself in the principal's office after
01:52making a joke about his teacher in class.
01:55And in the waiting room, there's a bulletin board.
01:58And check out the hand-drawn sketch in the lower center of the board.
02:05I thought the drawing may resemble actor John Hedder, who played Napoleon Dynamite in the
02:132004 comedy.
02:15He's also a high school student in this.
02:18The cast featured John Grease, Aaron Rule, Efron Ramirez, Tina Marino, and Dietrich Bader.
02:27Now, another clue to Napoleon Dynamite in this scene.
02:32Note the glass on the principal's door.
02:36And I thought this may be a clue to distributor Fox Searchlight Pictures.
02:41In the time period, Napoleon Dynamite, which was independently produced, was touted as a great
02:48success story for the spinoff distributor.
02:52Actually, the glass on the door, it looks to me more like the Fresno on a lighthouse.
02:59I thought it may be a hint to the diffusion of light being of some significance here.
03:07Okay, connections.
03:07One I will mention, actor Barry Corbin, who plays Jack Berenger in War Games.
03:13He is well known for playing Morris Minifield in the CBS comedy drama TV series Northern Exposure.
03:23And this ran between 1990 and 1995 with Rob Moore, Janine Turner, and John Corbett.
03:30Barry Corbin acted in a movie with John Hedder.
03:33This was Funny Thing About Love, a 2021 romantic comedy, which also starred Summer Balesa, Kevin
03:42Moezy, and Pat Finn.
03:44My YouTube channel is Easter Egg Psychic.
03:46There I go back and look at movies and television from the past.
03:50I analyze these for possible references to future media.
03:53These may appear in the form of anecdotes, idioms, anagrams.
03:57Hidden in the subtext of the work in question, I also use an unconventional method where I look at the
04:03likenesses of the actors.
04:06And what I found is you can take the likenesses, match these up to some of the anecdotal items,
04:12and show past, present, and future information about actors and other personalities
04:18or may resemble the personalities in the movie or television episode that you're watching.
04:25My email contact is easteregguy, that's G-U-Y, at yahoo.com.
04:32Thanks for watching.
