00:55led by the Kingdom of Bahrain have chosen to oppose them.
01:02Just over three weeks ago, this council adopted a resolution
01:07which garnered a record-setting, a UN record, of 136 co-sponsors
01:15with no opposition in this council.
01:19It was the most supported resolution in UN history,
01:22and that resolution clearly demanded that Iran immediately cease its attacks
01:29and threats against neighboring states and condemned its obstruction
01:33of safe civilian shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
01:38The objective of this draft is obvious, to punish the victim for defending its sovereignty
01:46and vital national interest in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz,
01:51while providing political and legal cover for further unlawful acts by the aggressors.
01:57had this draft been adopted, it could have opened the door to dangerously broad
02:04and abusive interpretation that could be used to justify further use of force
02:10and unlawful actions in clear violation of the UN Charter and International Law.
