00:46that is uh that is the latest there but um who was supposed to start tonight was hunter brown
00:52but clint uh the the news over the weekend is that uh the astros they are are going to lose
00:59hunter brown a little bit to the il with a right shoulder strain uh according to joe espada the
01:05captain and the astros manager he said hunter brown felt something in his shoulder during his
01:14throwing program on friday and had some imaging done in sacramento but flew back to houston to be
01:20seen by the new team doctors so that is uh the latest there we know he is not going to
01:25get the
01:26ball today clint he was scheduled to start today they've had to go in a different direction they are
01:30going to have to go with uh cody bolton he will get the start uh tonight but the the bigger
01:37news is
01:38clint prior to the season we had these conversations of who is the most important and impactful player to
01:45this team and for the last couple of years it's always been your don for me uh but i changed
01:51that
01:52this year and i think we both agreed that it is hunter brown just with everything that you have
01:57rolling behind him and i'm wondering how do you feel today now because now it's happening you would
02:02hope it didn't it didn't happen we talked about it we said they're going to have to use more starters
02:07because it's the it's it's major league baseball and somebody's going to get to the il at some point
02:14and he's probably not going to be the last starter that does it but you were hoping it wouldn't be

02:18now that you've seen a couple of turns through the rotation and now we know spencer getty's down there
02:24jason alexander is down there they've got some guys that we've seen have some experience pitch for
02:28the astros how do you feel now that you've seen the other guys behind them that hunter brown's going
02:36to be out how do you feel about this rotation with him out now well i feel i feel better

02:40that you did in the offseason yeah yeah look i feel better about after seeing you know touchy i am

02:46see him you know have some success obviously we've seen lance have a great outing followed up by a good
02:53outing um you know and and it looks like mike burrows kind of rebounded off that the first outing that
02:59wasn't ideal not terrible but wasn't ideal looks like he rebounded a bit and so um you know i think

03:06i feel better about that group uh than i did before but but i don't feel i've never thought
03:12that i would feel or or have felt obviously good enough about the starting rotation even with the
03:18guys that you mentioned that that haven't been brought up yet and and we haven't seen pitch yet
03:23this season spencer eric getty most notably even with those guys i mean this is just not a rotation
03:29that's that's that's going to have a chance with no hunter brown and and so it doesn't matter how
03:35how good we feel about the bats it doesn't matter how good we feel about the rest of the starting
03:39rotation bottom line is this team has no chance to make a run without hunter brown i i think it's

03:45think it's that that important he's that big of a piece um much like on the offensive side of the
03:50ball
03:51of the the game i don't know that they have a chance if you don't have yordan in the middle
03:57of that
03:57lineup so even and i say that even as well as everybody's swinging the bat right now i just
04:02don't think you have a shot without a guy without a power like yordan alvarez in the middle of it
04:07so
04:08um yeah this isn't this is an ideal but to answer your question i feel better about the supporting
04:13cast now i obviously don't like this news but i feel better about supporting cast than i did
04:17yeah um especially to me the way the offense is swinging the bat that that that's helpful
04:23um they scored 25 runs over the uh the weekend against the a's now they did lose the series but
04:29they are still swinging the bats and they're they've got multiple guys that are hot so it feels like
04:35they're going to get run support so that that helps um but this this is this was the injury that
04:41scares the hell out of you is and and hopefully it is and and dana brown you know of course
04:48he was on
04:49the flagship hey man just a little precautionary baby ain't that big of a deal you know i kept it
04:54real as a true professional myself you know dana made you feel real try to make you feel real
04:59confident it ain't gonna be too bad baby just 15 days but uh but no this is this is the
05:06one that that
05:06that make your staff look different and they've got the rockies they should be able to score runs and
05:14maybe potentially hold the rockies down but they get a four game set against the mariners after this
05:19and i know it's early but damn you'd wish your uh your starter your ace was there to face your
05:25primary competition in the west right now at least prior to the season starting so uh it is it is
05:32something that to me was the the worst case scenario for the astros before the season started now we've
05:39seen how the they're swinging the bats right now and we'll see it and the other part about it that
05:45makes it even more difficult is the latest update with their closer and what their replacement closer
05:52has been doing brian abreuil has just been awful i mean his era is is above 23 at this point
05:58he is
05:59just at every turn has given up runs home runs walks whatever you you want to take a look at
06:04and when
06:05you don't have hunter brown and your starters even though they've been a bit better they they without
06:11with the exception of lance haven't been exactly going deep into games you need that bullpen to
06:17help you and josh hater was a guy that gave 95 million dollars to to come here and he's been
06:23good once he has been on the field but we know he's been injured here is his update of where
06:27he is right
06:28now ultimately it's trying to break that tissue up make sure it's recovering well my bullpens have
06:34been really well my last bullpen i touched in the 90s so that's exciting for me um i've never touched
06:4090 in a bullpen even when i was healthy so that's uh a testament to the work that we're putting

06:46as far as uh when you talk about feeling right now is there any discomfort any pain or do you

06:52like okay i'm past that it's more so about make sure making sure that we are at 100 before we
06:58actually return exactly that's that's it it's making sure that when i come back there's no there's
07:02no you know setbacks on that it's when i'm in there i'm i'm there to to the world series and
07:07i'm going to be there to you know give it every day as i can and i'll be 100 order

07:41is uh get get right to a point of where you come back the plan is to is to to
07:46pitch in a world series
07:47not just not just rush back to be a part of what you're watching right now yeah yeah so they

07:53they they got to figure something else out i was thinking all right man maybe maybe brian a bray you
07:58can hold on to this for about another week or two but if he's just now touching 90 um in
08:05a bullpen
08:05you would assume as we said earlier you got a rehab start how many of those rehab appearances is there
08:12going to be for him before he finally gets up there but they they need him but i agree with
08:18you just
08:19because of what's happened with brian a bray you up here they that should not put them in a space
08:24to
08:24to rush him back that should not put them in a space and it doesn't seem like that by what
08:29they're
08:30saying is the the goal is to be up here and ready to go right right now be up here

08:36and not to have any setbacks but it looks like it is a little slower with haters so uh hunter
