01:04So let's start with a little history of Durex. Did you know that the company that manufactures
01:09Durex was actually founded by a bicycle company? Yes, you heard that right. London Rubber Company
01:16was founded by Thomas Hancock in 1879. The company manufactured pneumatic tires and inner tubes for
01:23bicycles. But soon they realized that the rubber used in their products was being wasted due to air
01:29holes and cuts. So to make use of the leftover rubber, they decided to produce condoms. Initially,
01:35these were sold in plain packaging without any kind of promotion or advertising. They only use the
01:40slogan, safe and sure. And if you look closely at the logo, you will notice a bicycle in it,
01:46which represents the company's roots.
