00:18Sadly, Itori passed away in 1947 at the age of 80. His son Jean took his place in the public
00:23eye, but he too suffered a tragic fate when he was killed in a car accident while testing a new

00:28This marked the end of an era for the Bugatti brand. After the death of Jean Bugatti in 1947, the
00:34company went through a series of owners, and the production of new models was put on hold.
00:38In the meantime, Bugatti's former factory in Mulsium fell into disuse and became a storage facility for wine bottles.
00:44However, in the early 1980s, a revival of the Bugatti brand began, when an Italian businessman named Romano Art purchased
00:51the rights to the Bugatti name and trademarks.
00:53In the year 2000, the Volkswagen Group acquired the Bugatti brand and relocated it to a new facility in the
