00:05Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're looking at side quests across The Legend of Zelda we feel most players miss.
00:12A lot of these games are extremely popular these days, so we're looking at this from a perspective of when
00:17they were first released,
00:18as well as quests we feel are easily missed by first-time players in general without outside help.
00:24Also, just to clarify, these are quests that are hard to find, not necessarily hard to complete.
00:35But before we dive in, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring the
00:40bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:44Legend of the Great Sky Island, The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
01:00Before the Switch 2 versions allowed you to pinpoint exactly where you needed to go,
01:04there were more than a few quests in the open-world entries that were easy to overlook.
01:08The Legend of the Great Sky Island hides in plain sight,
01:12one might think you're done with the tutorial area after Link gains his abilities,
01:16and nothing tells you to go on top of the Temple of Time where a steward construct awaits with a
01:21challenge.
01:21Even if you do find it, the traditional method of completion requires a lot more stamina and the Zora armor.
01:34Link must light three torches around the area without touching the ground,
01:37and get special paraglider fabric for doing it within the time limit.
01:48A Parent's Love, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
02:01From the ground up is one of the best side quests in Breath of the Wild, leading to the creation
02:06of Tarrytown.
02:07Afterwards, Link can find a few other quests, but one is pretty well hidden.
02:11Only by eavesdropping outside of the window of a specific house at night time
02:15will Link overhear a couple talking about their sick daughter.
02:19To cure her, you can give them a monster cake,
02:21the recipe of which is in Hyrule Castle, unless you look it up,
02:25but also requires monster extract, which can only be purchased from Kilton.
02:39But because starting this quest requires Link to be in a very exact location and window of time,
02:45it's something many miss.
02:59Plow Needed, The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
03:11On the long road of turning Batro into a human in Skyward Sword,
03:15Link collects a lot of gratitude crystals through a lot of side quests.
03:19Most of them are found in Skyloft.
03:21The one that isn't also requires you to have completed several other side quests before it appears.
03:27Once Link breaks the chandelier at the lumpy pumpkin, he must complete three jobs to pay off his debt,
03:33each of which are available at different points.
03:35Only after he does this, and has beaten the game's sixth dungeon, the Fire Sanctuary,
03:41will Kina offer a new quest back at the restaurant.
03:44She needs help plowing the pumpkin patch and asks Link to find someone for her.
03:49Although Fi can douse for the proper NPC, it's still a trek going down to Elden Volcano to find them.
03:55Regardless, this list of prerequisites makes this one of the more well-hidden quests of the game.
04:08Staying Up All Night
04:09The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask
04:12In Majora's Mask, Anju's grandmother drops lore in the form of stories.
04:23While she and her stories aren't exactly hidden, what Link needs in order to complete her quest takes a bit
04:29of detective work.
04:31First, Link must save a completely different old woman from being robbed in North Clock Town at midnight on the
04:37first day.
04:43This causes the thief, Sakon, to sell the all-night mask to the curiosity shop instead of the big bomb
04:50bag.
04:51The item is only available late on the night of the third day for 500 rupees.
04:55It allows Link to stay awake through both stories and earn two pieces of heart.
05:00Since there's such a brief, circumstantial window in which Link can get it, and the only hint about it comes
05:05from a Gossip Stone, it's one of the game's more secretive masks.
05:27In any given village or town in Twilight Princess, Link can talk to the various animals while in his wolf
05:33form.
05:34They don't usually have any vital information to give you, but one Cuco in the hidden village does.
05:40After clearing the town of enemies and rescuing Impaz, Link will need to return for a later part of the
05:45story.
05:45However, if you're just going about your business to complete the story mission, it's entirely possible you'll miss this quest.
05:56Upon returning, you'll find the village full of cats.
06:00The Cuco, located behind one of the houses, will challenge you with finding and chatting with all 20 cats throughout
06:05the area,
06:06and doing so will earn you a piece of heart.
06:13Who finds the Haven?
06:16The Legend of Zelda, Tears of the Kingdom
06:25Some areas in the modern era of Hyrule are more difficult to navigate than others, and therefore lend themselves better
06:32to hiding side quests.
06:33With its steep peaks and frequent snowfalls, the Hebra region is definitely one of them.
06:39Who finds the Haven is the final step in a three-quest-long storyline of Nat and Megan,
06:44who are first found by a cave off a road east of Rito Village.
06:47Although their first quest, asking for ten bright-capped mushrooms from inside, is easy,
06:53the terrain and weather makes them easy to pass over.
06:56Although they don't tell you, Link next finds them at Snowfield's stable,
06:59where they send him after a group of monsters that stole their tent.
07:09Finally, they'll give him a clue about a secret cave near Sternita Basin that holds a treasure trove of mushrooms.
07:23The Lakeside Lab, The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time.
07:34Although the Lab by Lake Hylia isn't a hidden location, it holds one of the harder pieces of heart to
07:40earn in the game.
07:41And it's mostly because, without help or knowledge, it's hard to know just what to do.
07:45First, you need to catch a fish that's at least ten pounds at the Lake Hylia Fishing Pond as a
07:51child, which gets you a piece of heart.
07:53Then, you have to go back to the fishing pond as an adult, and catch an even bigger fish, which
07:58earns you the Golden Scale.
08:00With that, Link can dive deeper than normal, and down to the bottom of the tank inside the lab to
08:05get his piece of heart.
08:06Without any hint towards the existence of the Golden Scale in-game, though, it's one first-time players understandably miss.
08:19Wild Sandstorms
08:20The Legend of Zelda, Echoes of Wisdom
08:29Wild Sandstorms is another quest that has a few prerequisites before it appears.
08:33In the Gerudo Desert to the northwest of the Oasis, Zelda can get caught in a sandstorm and attacked by
08:39a Lan Mola, a sandstorm mini-boss.
08:42After defeating it, she can find a second one to the east of the Oasis.
08:54Only after defeating both, as well as completing the fourth dungeon, Hyrule Castle, will she find a new quest at
09:01the Gerudo Palace Barracks.
09:02One guard will give you the job of defeating a third and final Lan Mola, which is again found in
09:08the eastern part of the desert.
09:09And afterwards, the princess is awarded the Gold Sash, which protects her from being windblown.
09:21Zora Stone Monuments
09:23The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
09:31If you don't thoroughly investigate Zora's domain with several floors and winding stairways, it can be easy to miss a
09:39quest or two.
09:39After completing Divine Beast Varuta, Link can find Giotto looking at a weathered stone wall on the floor underneath the
09:46throne room.
09:47He tells Link of ten others on the various paths outside of the domain, which detail Zora's history.
09:53And Link must track them all down to complete his quest and get a diamond.
09:57Although Giotto's location makes him easy to miss, these walls also aren't marked on your map,
10:02so you'll spend a fair amount of time searching and digging into the corners of the surrounding area.
10:17Malon's Gift
10:18The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
10:26The Lon Lon Ranch storyline in Ocarina of Time gets you Epona, a fantastic upgrade for traversing Hyrule Field.
10:33If you return, you can get an update on things from Malon, wrapping everything up neatly.
10:39But if you speak to her again, she offers you the chance to beat a time trial race around the
10:44ranch.
10:44If you do, she leaves you a gift inside your home in Kokiri Forest.
10:49A cow, meaning an unlimited supply of milk.
10:52Although it's something a lot of us know about now, and there is a gossip stone that hints at this,
10:56it's still a nice, hidden reward outside of items and pieces of heart that some first time players might miss.
11:08Secret Dondon Rewards
11:10The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
11:21If you follow the potential Princess Sightings questline, you'll eventually find out about the Dondons,
11:27a recently discovered species that can eat luminous stones and produce much rarer gems.
11:34While the side quest about them isn't that hidden, there are several NPCs who ask Link to tell them about
11:40these creatures should he find anything.
11:42And if you return to them after completing the quest, you can get some extra rewards.
11:47The little boys at Dueling Peaks Stable will give him a swift carrot,
11:51Breen at Woodland Stable gives him an Endura carrot,
11:55and the owner of Wetland Stable gives him a pony point after looking at some Dondon drawings.
12:00These are all like little quests inside a larger one that many players might not think to check up on.
12:14The Cave of Shadows
12:17The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD
12:28Our next one, admittedly, gets in on a technicality.
12:31The Cave of Shadows is hardly hidden, as it was a marketed new inclusion in the HD remaster on the
12:37Wii U,
12:38available by scanning the packed-in Wolf Link amiibo.
12:40But as far as quests most players never found, we know for a fact most of us never played through
12:47it based on numbers alone.
13:00The Wii U was already on its way out in 2016.
13:03Twilight Princess HD only sold around 1.7 million units,
13:08making it one of the lowest-selling mainline releases.
13:11The Cave of Shadows, a 40-floor combat dungeon designed for only Wolf Link,
13:16gets you the Colossal Wallet, which holds up to 9,999 rupees.
13:21But it doesn't seem many fans ever got a chance to get it.
13:37The Goron Quest
13:38The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
13:46This GBA adventure introduced kinstones, items Link could find and fuse with those of NPCs to unlock various things,
13:53and some of them connected to very easily missed quests.
13:57Close to Lan Lan Ranch, there's a Goron constantly wailing on a wall.
14:01To get inside, Link must go through multiple fusions, most of which are with walls and hidden locations,
14:07to get other Gorons to aid him into digging into the cave.
14:16Doing so will earn you the final empty bottle, but it doesn't stop there.
14:20After, you can fuse one last time with one of the Gorons, prompting Big Goron to appear in Veil Falls.
14:27He can get Link the mirror shield, but this can only happen after you've already beaten the game.
14:36The Missing Chef
14:38The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
14:41Tears of the Kingdom has a fair amount of quests that aren't listed in your menu, and some of which
14:46have no real rewards.
14:47You can find this one early on, though you might not think to look for it.
14:51First, you must give an apple to Bermano, the cook in Lookout Landing's shelter, to complete an actual side quest.
14:58Later, this causes Dion to appear in the cooking area, who can tell Link that Bermano went to Hyrule Castle
15:04in search of a recipe.
15:05This is the part that's unmarked, so some might not think to speak to him.
15:10You can find Bermano, safe inside the castle's dining hall, trying to remember the ingredients to a recipe that's posted
15:16on a wall, literally in the same exact room.
15:19This recipe is all you get from this, as Bermano stays here for the rest of the game.
15:31Saving Greggel
15:32The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
15:40Another quest hidden behind a specific Kinstone Fusion is saving an NPC before it's too late.
15:46Greggel is a member of the Wind Tribe that lives in the clouds above Hyrule.
15:50By the time Link reaches Greggel's home under normal circumstances, he's already dead.
15:55However, if you've found the proper Kinstone and fused it with the proper NPC, you'll open a path to the
16:00Cloud Tops early.
16:02Once there, Link finds a bedridden Greggel under attack from a parasitic ghost.
16:07Saving him is as easy as pulling out the Gust Jar and sucking up the ghost.
16:19Grateful for the rescue, Greggel will give you the underwhelming reward of 100 mysterious shells.
16:25But when Link returns for the area's dungeon, Greggel will then give him the ultra-powerful Light Arrows.
16:37The Forest Stage
16:39The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
16:46There's a well-hidden area within the Lost Woods that's easily overlooked by most players.
16:51Found in a room disconnected from the areas any other quest would take you to are two business scrubs.
16:57However, there's also grass covering a hole that drops you into the Forest Stage, where a troop of Deku Scrub
17:04performers await.
17:10They react differently depending on which mask from Young Link's trading sequence you're wearing.
17:16Some reactions are silly, but the Skull Mask earns you the Deku Stick capacity upgrade,
17:21while the Mask of Truth can increase how many Deku Nuts Link can carry.
17:24In the case of the latter, the original game featured a bug that made it impossible to earn
17:29if you had already reached a certain point in Adult Link's trading sequence.
17:41The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
17:50Similar to the Legend of the Great Sky Island that we opened the list with,
17:54riddles of Hyrule can also be easily missed if you don't think to climb to the top of the Great
17:59Deku Tree.
17:59Hidden atop the Guardian deity's crown is a Korok named Walton.
18:04He will give Link five riddles for different items that he must show him, after which he'll give him a
18:09diamond.
18:17If you thought he wouldn't hide in the same spot twice, well, you thought wrong.
18:21Walton can also be found in this secret spot on top of the Deku Tree in Tears of the Kingdom.
18:26And if Link finds the Forest Dweller's sword, spear, and shield that he's hidden around the branches,
18:32he'll reward him with the Forest Dweller's bow.
18:44A way to trade, washed away.
18:47The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
18:57What makes this quest in Luralin Village easy to miss is that it's buried underneath a whole lot of other
19:03quests.
19:04First, Link must go through the process of ridding the village of Ganon's minions,
19:09then he must collect all of the necessary resources to rebuild the town, bringing the community back together.
19:15Those are two pretty lengthy side quests that open up even more.
19:20Afterwards, Link can tell Garini at Lookout Landing that his home is safe to return to,
19:25where he'll find him waiting on the docks with a job.
19:28A way to trade, washed away, sees Link retrieve a boat for Garini, which he uses as a merchant,
19:34and results in Link receiving some free produce whenever he visits the village.
19:38But because of how many steps are required before you ever find it, most people might not.
19:56The Riddle Quest.
19:58The Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past, and Four Swords.
20:07A Link to the Past holds plenty of secrets, but there's one quest that could only be found in its
20:13GBA port,
20:14and it requires a lot of work.
20:16First, you'd have to earn ten Medals of Courage and Four Swords.
20:20You could only earn these in multiplayer by being the Link with the most rupees at the end of any
20:25given level.
20:26After earning ten of them, you'd unlock the Riddle Quest in A Link to the Past.
20:37The Lumberjack, Q Bumpkin, would issue ten riddles to Link, each connected to a different item you'd have to bring
20:44him.
20:44The quest would earn you the awesome Hurricane Spin Attack, but given its multiplayer requirements,
20:50and that it's only found in this version, there are likely a lot of players who have never experienced it.
21:08Before we continue, check out this single from Sound Mojo's Adia, Songs from Iran,
21:13reimagining Persian melodies as modern rock, metal, and pop songs.
21:17Check out the full track and album below.
21:38Knuckles' Scavenger Hunt, The Legend of Zelda, The Wind Waker.
21:48After meeting Tingle in The Wind Waker, Link gained the Tingle Tuner,
21:52an item players could only use if they also had a Game Boy Advance and a Link cable.
21:57Using it would let you access Tingle's shop, but there was also a quest tied to it.
22:02Upon revisiting Outset Island and using the device, which the game doesn't tell you to do,
22:07you'd finally meet Tingle's mysterious brother Knuckle.
22:16He'd issue a scavenger hunt, which, when completed, would earn you the hand-me-down Tingle Tuner,
22:22and access to Knuckle's shop.
22:24The device could also unveil five Tingle statues hidden throughout the world,
22:28for which Knuckle would pay you 50 rupees each, and 500 for the set.
22:33Given the extra outside resources required, and that Wind Waker never tells you where to find Knuckle,
22:38there are probably many Zelda fans that missed all of this.
22:47What's a quest from The Legend of Zelda you feel most people don't know about?
22:51Which one took you a long time to find?
22:54Share your thoughts in the comments, and we will see you next time.
22:57Let's do it again.
22:57Let's do it again.
22:57Let's do it again.
22:57We can pick the little male or two.
22:57Let's do it again.
