00:01Since October 2024, I have not been paid.
00:06And as they say, water more than flour now, and that's why we are coming out publicly to see if
00:11we can get our money.
00:12We need our money.
00:14I have been calling, and I know the others have been calling, and all we are hearing is we don't
00:20have any money to pay all year.
00:21Mrs. Parks-Karuth told TV6 News that contractors are now receiving death threats as outstanding monies remain owed to workers.
00:31She said the situation has placed contractors under significant pressure, explaining that some workers who have not been paid are
00:40becoming increasingly frustrated.
00:42Parks-Karuth noted that in an effort to keep operations going and ensure workers receive some form of payment,
00:49she has been borrowing money to meet payroll obligations.
00:53However, she said she has now reached her limit and can no longer continue doing so.
01:00She added that contractors are urgently calling for their outstanding payments to be settled,
01:05so that workers can be paid and detentions eased.
01:10I hear people clamoring for back pay, being a front pay.
01:14Our businesses are being threatened, really threatened.
01:18Workers are threatening us, we have to repair our equipment, no money, banks on us, no money.
01:27Another contractor, Jomo Alain, told the TV6 News that since recent changes were made to the management structure
01:34at the National Maintenance Training and Security Company Limited, MTS,
01:40contractors have stopped receiving timely payments for work completed.
01:44Since in COVID time to now, and well, it was all good things, you know, management change and things change
01:51and things get haywire.
01:53We don't know, but nobody still give us a response.
01:55At least you can tell me something.
01:57If you're not getting paid, why and what?
02:00TV6 News reached out to the management of the National Maintenance Training and the Security Company Limited, MTS,
02:07for comment on the matter, and we are awaiting a response.
02:11Elizabeth Williams, TV6 News.
