00:00My message is clear. To the United States and Israel, it's high time to stop the war that is inflicting
00:07immense human suffering.
00:10The Middle East crisis has lurched into its second months.
00:16Every day this war continues, human suffering grows, the scale of devastation grows, indiscriminated attacks grow,
00:25the target of civilians and civilian infrastructure grows, and the perils to our world grow.
00:33We are on the edge of a wider war that would engulf the whole Middle East with dramatic impacts around
00:40the globe.
00:41The conflict is already being felt everywhere.
00:46Look no further than the impact of the denial of freedom of navigation.
00:50When the Strait of Hormuz is strangled, the world's poorest and most vulnerable cannot breathe.
00:57We see it in the daily lives of people struggling with rising food and energy costs,
01:03from the Philippines to Sri Lanka to Mozambique to communities far beyond.
01:09Many aspects of the conflict may be uncertain, but one thing is not.
01:13If the drums of war keep beating, escalation will only make all of these worse.
01:21The spiral of death and destruction must stop.
01:26Diplomatic efforts are underway to find a peaceful path forward.
01:30They deserve the space and support to succeed, anchored firmly in international law, including the UN Charter.
01:40Disputes must be settled peacefully.
01:43The sovereignty and territorial integrity of all Member States must be respected.
01:48Civilians and civilian infrastructure, including nuclear installations, must be respected and protected.
01:55And freedom of navigation must be upheld.
02:00I remain in close contact with the parties, and I'm dispatching my personal envoy, Jean Arnaud, to the region to
02:07support these efforts.
02:09We must find a peaceful way out.
02:12My message is clear.
02:14To the United States and Israel, it's high time to stop the war that is inflicting immense human suffering
02:21and already triggering devastating economic consequences.
02:25To Iran, to stop attacking their neighbors.
02:29The Security Council has condemned these attacks and reaffirmed the need to respect navigational rights and freedoms
02:35along critical maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz.
02:41Conflicts do not end on their own.
02:44They end when leaders choose dialogue over destruction.
02:48That choice still exists and must be made now.
02:53Thank you.
02:54Thank you, sir.
02:55Thank you very much.
02:56Thank you.
