00:00From cold-blooded threats of sending Iran back into the distant past to throwing shade at allied nations over their
00:07refusals to get involved in what was described as the country's decapitation, President Trump's speech last night was anything but
00:14short of explosive.
00:15Here are the biggest moments from Trump's televised address to the nation.
00:19On the evening of April 1st, the Commander-in-Chief delivered a 19-minute primetime speech from the White House,
00:25heavily focusing on the war in Iran.
00:28Perhaps one of his most controversial statements came when he described just how far he'd go.
00:33We're going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks.
00:38We're going to bring them back to the Stone Ages where they belong.
00:43In the meantime, discussions are ongoing.
00:45Yet, if during this period of time no deal is made, we have our eyes on key targets.
00:50If there is no deal, we are going to hit each and every one of their electric generating plants very
00:57hard and probably simultaneously.
00:59Nevertheless, in his update, Trump assured Americans that the objectives of Operation Epic Fury, which includes dismantling the regime's ability
01:07to threaten the U.S., as well as building a nuclear bomb, are close to being fulfilled.
01:12Tonight, I'm pleased to say that these core strategic objectives are nearing completion.
01:18I've made clear from the beginning of Operation Epic Fury that we will continue until our objectives are fully achieved.
01:26Thanks to the progress we've made, I can say tonight that we are on track to complete all of America's
01:33military objectives shortly, very shortly.
01:35President Trump also continued his calls to other countries to help in reopening the Strait of Hormuz,
01:41the vital shipping lane controlled by Iran that has been kept virtually shut down since the beginning of Operation Epic
01:47Fury.
01:48The commander-in-chief urged countries who rely on the Strait to take the lead in protecting the oil that
01:53they, quote, so desperately depend on,
01:55taking the opportunity to chide that they should already have done so when he asked.
01:59So to those countries that can't get fuel, many of which refuse to get involved in the decapitation of Iran,
02:07we had to do it ourselves.
02:09I have a suggestion.
02:11Number one, buy oil from the United States of America.
02:14We have plenty.
02:15We have so much.
02:16And number two, build up some delayed courage.
02:19Should have done it before.
02:20Should have done it with us as we asked.
02:22Just go to the Strait and just take it, protect it, use it for yourselves.
02:28Iran has been essentially decimated.
02:31The hard part is done, so it should be easy.
02:34As the war with Iran stretches into its second month, Trump urged Americans to recognize that the conflict,
02:40which has claimed 13 American lives, is not going to be a lengthy war.
02:44After railing against years-long, open-ended interventions abroad, such as Vietnam and Iraq,
02:51Trump made his case for the importance of the polarizing operation.
02:55We are in this military operation, so powerful, so brilliant, against one of the most powerful countries for 32 days.
03:04And the country has been eviscerated and essentially is really no longer a threat.
03:10They were the bully of the Middle East, but they're the bully no longer.
03:15This is a true investment in your children and your grandchildren's future.
03:19Perhaps just as important as what Trump did say, it's what he did not say.
03:24One of the most lingering and burning questions of the conflict has been whether or not Trump would deploy U
03:29.S. boots on the ground.
03:30After reportedly being presented with plans that could have sent commandos to retrieve deeply buried uranium,
03:36or to seize the Carg Island fuel depot, Trump made no mention of a land-based assault by U.S.
03:42troops.
03:43For now, Americans are left with a clear message of strength, but an uncertain picture of what comes next.
