00:00Using your model, are you able to quantify what percentage of the internet at the moment is AI
00:05slop? It's about 40%. Wow. So a lot of the internet is just like SEO written articles and
00:12it's articles written for search basically so that your website comes up more often in search
00:16because it's targeting certain keywords. And a lot of that industry has switched over to using AI
00:21because then instead of having to pay writers, you could turn out articles for pennies on the
00:25dollar. That kind of results in a lot of the internet being AI written. It is also kind of
00:31platform dependent. About a year and a half ago, we looked at Medium and found that over 50% of
00:36newly written Medium articles were AI generated, which was a crazy high number. What about Reddit?
00:43Reddit, it was 7% a year ago, I believe a little over 10% today. The thing I don't
00:48necessarily
00:48understand is what are the economic incentives to actually write a bunch of AI generated posts on
00:55Reddit and get upvoted. Like why does that system or motivation even exist?
01:00So there are startups, I'm not going to name names because I don't want to promote them,
01:04but they will sell a promise to companies that we're going to get you organic mentions on Reddit.
01:10We're going to run our AI bots and they're just going to naturally recommend your product or just
01:15mention your product in the comments or in a post. And so I've seen evidence of this. They're
01:21basically like bot farms that are mostly engaging seemingly organically, just like doing a short
01:27reply. And then sometimes they're doing this brand mention. And so that's why these posts are very
01:31valuable.
