00:00Hello everyone, I'm Simone Simons from Epica, and these are my four favorite metal albums.
00:07So my first pick would be Oceanborn from Nightwish, their second studio album.
00:12There happens to be a song on the album, which is a cover, Walking in the Air,
00:16from the animated movie The Snowman.
00:18And I knew that from my childhood, so that really drew me in even more.
00:23And back in the day I had vocal lessons, just normal singing lessons, jazz, pop.
00:28But it didn't fit me so well, and then I thought, maybe I'm gonna try the classical singing.
00:33So that kind of gave me the push.
00:34The second one I picked was Mutter von Rammstein.
00:38Rammstein, of course, was always played in the clubs where I went out with my friends.
00:42Rammstein also sometimes has female vocals, I don't know if it's sampled or not.
00:47That's kind of a bucket list thing for me, if they were to call me I would say yes, yesterday
00:51already, you know, to do that, to work with them.
00:53The third album that I picked would be Absolution from Muse, in particular the song Endlessly.
01:00I think the whole album is full of brilliant songs, I love Matthew Bellamy.
01:04Got to see them live last year on Hellfest, and that was amazing.
01:08The fourth album I would pick would be Judgment from Anathema.
01:13A British band with very cute twin brothers, who actually have also a very important role in the Epica career.
01:24Our very first show was as a support of Anathema in the Netherlands, and it was a show I'll never
01:32forget.
01:33I will never forget how kind they were to us, you know, as being a tiny little band.
01:38We didn't even have enough songs to fill a set list.
01:41We had to play like a cover song from Mark's former band, and quickly write a song so we would
01:46have enough time to do the show.
01:48I was so nervous, and I thought I'll never do this again, and see me now, 25 years later, still
01:53doing it.
01:54I am so nervous.
