00:00Hi, Brady from Conjurer here, and this is my 4-metal album.
00:06Starting off with one of the first heavy records I remember really scaring me,
00:11which was Iowa by Slipknot.
00:14Not a new metal band.
00:17Just the raw aggression on every instrument on that record, front to back,
00:23is really inspiring to me,
00:26and something that I, I don't know, it's one of those albums that still to this day
00:33makes me want to hit stuff, which does not happen very often.
00:36Album number two is going to be Koi No Yokum by Deftones.
00:40Not a new metal band.
00:44Deftones were a band that, obviously listening to Scars and all of those TV stations growing up
00:50and everything on repeat, I was like, I do not get it.
00:55The guy can't sing.
00:57And then Koi No Yokum came out, and from track one, from Swerve City,
01:00I was like, this is incredible.
01:03And it kind of blew the door wide open to that band for me,
01:06so it's always going to be a really special, heavy record.
01:09They've got textures, they've got emotion, they've got light and shade.
01:13It's just impeccable stuff.
01:16Every long drive, it goes on.
01:18Third pick is going to be Mesmerize by System of a Down, not a new metal band.
01:27Really, they're one of the bands I could pick any record from the discography
01:31and be equally happy with it.
01:33But Mesmerize is, again, that first one that I really locked into
01:38and just got into the kind of front to back,
01:41something that Conjure take a lot from is not messing around at the end of songs,
01:47just straight through, straight through.
01:49It's just impeccable songwriting, and once you can get past the silliness,
01:55the messages are there as well.
01:57Unreal band.
01:59Final pick has to be Gojira, and it could be L'Enfant Sauvage,
02:05it could be The Way of All Flesh, but it's going to be From Mars to Sirius.
02:10Again, I think it's the quintessential album from that band.
02:14And it was the blueprint for understanding how blast beats work.
02:20It was showing how much you can do with just clever songwriting.
02:24You don't need all the notes in the world.
02:26You just need to create an atmosphere,
02:28and that record creates an atmosphere unlike anything else.
02:32I feel like I'm lifting a planet-sized whale listening to it.
02:38And that's my four records.
