00:05Four albums I think everybody should be listening to is
00:09Lycathia Flame, Elvin Efres from 2000.
00:11This is probably my biggest lyrical influence in Blood Incantation.
00:15Really positive, emotionally intelligent, introspective lyrics.
00:19Unrelentingly brutal, atmospheric and technical death metal.
00:22Obviously you can see why that's a huge part of Blood Incantation's aesthetic repertoire.
00:28Similarly, Superation the Cube, 1993, an obscure French band.
00:32It later became kind of an eccentric prog metal band.
00:36From the demos on Seraphic Decay, 7 inches, 2 7 inches,
00:40one on Morbid Records, one on Seraphic Decay,
00:42and the Sultry Obsession mini CD,
00:45which was the first death metal CD released in France in the history of the world,
00:49financed by the band themselves, pretty punk.
00:51But yeah, it's kind of like Necroticism era carcass with Voivode clean vocals
00:57and like a kind of weird late 90s, mid 90s alternative guitar sound.
01:01Pretty important for Blood Incantation.
01:03You'll hear it a lot in the last couple years of our records.
01:08Another one, Gorgut's Pleiades Dust, I think is the strongest comeback record of any
01:12Beth Metal band in history to come back and put out a new record in the modern era.
01:16A few times in my life we ever paid to log into a live stream of them playing some festival,
01:22I think in the Netherlands or somewhere in Europe.
01:24About 10 years ago, we paid to watch this really lo-fi live stream
01:28and they just played this 30-minute track.
01:30Totally mind-blowing.
01:32Relevant, contemporary in the modern world.
01:35Not a retread, not a psychedelic freak-out.
01:39Just ask exactly what you think Gorgut should be doing.
01:42In reference to your other question, obviously Cynic Focus is a really important record
01:47and I think a lot of people now understand this band and what they were going for.
01:52This band effectively broke up on tour.
01:55People weren't ready for that type of fusion
01:57and now they're headlining the main stages everywhere they go
02:01because I think the collective consciousness of humankind and metal
02:05has opened their hearts up to the reality of what Cynic Focus was really trying to say
