00:00Milliken's going to go under the hood.
00:01I know that.
00:02Over the hood itself, though, Milliken, not looking too good right now.
00:05The body?
00:06Yeah.
00:07Is the hood still on the car?
00:08It's got some rust.
00:09We got some bugs all over it.
00:11There's some chip paint.
00:12It's not looking great.
00:13Baltimore homers yesterday for Rangers Juarez.
00:15Only did that once all last year in any start.
00:18Had 70.
00:18What do you got that going for?
00:1995 miles.
00:20It's nice to have talking about losses after that.
00:22Like, hey, let's look at the silver lining after we got our ass kicked.
00:25Day one at Houston.
00:27Oh, let's go to Houston.
00:28Right to ship before you come home.
00:30Don't come home one and six.
00:31It's similar to last year, though.
00:33You were one and three.
00:33You weren't set four last year.
00:34Bar said it, yeah.
00:36You know?
00:38Bar said, yeah, remember last year?
00:40Had the home opener.
00:41Boy, they won't win.
00:43Yeah.
00:44We did not exactly get the offseason that a lot of Red Sox fans were hoping for.
00:47You think?
00:47You were looking for a sexy offseason building off that postseason run that you had last year.
00:52Ranger Suarez winds up being the crown jewel of that offseason.
00:56$130 million contract.
00:58First start last night.
01:02Milliken, it could have been worse, man.
01:03It could have been worse than what it was.
01:05Yeah, yeah.
01:05I was so happy when the double play happened.
01:07I was going to have a situation where the first inning blows up because you knew Oviedo was going to
01:10follow him.
01:11One of the few positives of last night is that you were able to save the bullpen.
01:14That was really it.
01:16That's a glass half full approach.
01:18It's a little more than half full.
01:19Yeah, that's a glass half full approach there, Milliken.
01:21A couple more games down there.
01:22All of a sudden, you get to the point where Oviedo goes to the fifth or sixth, and then you
01:26have to eat even more innings after that.
01:28It was rough, for sure.
01:29I'm not going to sit here and say, like, Suarez is going to suck or he's going to be a
01:33bust or it's going to be anything like that.
01:34But for a guy who doesn't have the most premium stuff, if your command isn't there and you're throwing the
01:40ball in the middle of the zone, you're going to get smoked.
01:41That's just the reality.
01:42Man, we talked about Crochet and the spring training that he had, and at times, like, he got, you know,
01:48he gets shelled.
01:49You're like, oh, well, is there any level of concern?
01:51Is Crochet going to be the same guy?
01:53First start, dominant, exactly the pitcher that you thought he was going to be.
01:57And then you look at Suarez, struggles in spring training, struggles at the World Baseball Classic, and then the struggles
02:03continued last night.
02:04Just does not look like the pitcher that obviously you signed early on.
02:07Now, looking at it, if you go throughout his history of his career, that first start, literally every year, if
02:13you go through the last five, he's gotten absolutely shelled in those starts.
02:18So maybe he turns things around.
02:20So everything's on schedule is what you're saying.
02:21Yeah, exactly.
02:22Look, the pitcher that you thought you were going to get so far has delivered as expected.
02:26But, you know, we'll see moving forward because, man, that was not exactly impressive stuff last night.
02:31You do kind of look, too.
02:33His cutter usage jumped dramatically.
02:34It was 17% last year, was up to 32% in this first start.
02:38When you're talking him and Johan Oviedo, who Oviedo is now throwing almost three miles per hour slower, yeah, the
02:44pitching lab is going to come into focus and people are going to start to talk about it.
02:46A lot like they did the first two months of last year before they had that miraculous turnaround after the
02:51first week of June.
02:52They need to be better.
02:54They need to adjust quicker.
