00:00I've actually watched far less of the WBC than I wanted to watch.
00:04What are you laughing about?
00:06It's an excellent event.
00:08Is it?
00:08It is.
00:10Didn't it get pitched against them last night?
00:11I think it's at a tough time of year.
00:13But that one last night felt like the first appointment viewing one.
00:19They hadn't beat – they'd never beaten Mexico.
00:22Yeah, but Mexico's starting pitcher, last pitch in the major leagues five years ago,
00:26and it was three career starts.
00:28So it's like, come on.
00:29Will can start a nose tackle next year.
00:32But even in the lower lesser games, I think one of the things about the WBC
00:35that people don't realize is the David versus Goliath thing,
00:38but it's the story of players.
00:39Like Lucas Ramirez in that first game against Brazil,
00:42going out there and hitting two home runs.
00:44Jose Contreras' son at 17 years old, getting Aaron Judge to break his bat
00:48and throw a scoreless inning, you know, to start his outing.
00:51Like those are the things you find in those moments that, yeah,
00:54there's three or four, four or five teams that are above everyone else,
00:56but you get some great storylines, even if it isn't, you know,
01:00the same equal playing field for everyone.
01:02So Roman Anthony hits a three-run home run.
01:05Tank.
01:05That is the difference in this game.
01:09And right there, wins a game.
01:11He won the game for the United States.
01:13And the Red Sox showed out brilliantly in this game.
01:16I don't want to credit Aaron Judge.
01:19No, thank you.
01:20Not going to credit Paul Skeens.
01:21No, thank you.
01:22I'm going to credit.
01:23I'm going to credit.
01:24I'm going to credit that guy right there, Roman Anthony.
01:27And Jaron Duran, according to Peter Gammons,
01:30Gammons is telling the world that the Red Sox coaches have worked with Jaron Duran
01:34and that the release of his hand off the bat during the swing is increasing his velo on the bat
01:43speed
01:43and is going to lead to Roman, excuse me, not Roman Anthony, Jaron Duran being just an absolute monster this
01:50year.
01:51Are we buying this?
01:52There's something there against lefties.
01:54I do trust what Peter Gammons is saying because he's been down at Red Sox camp.
01:58So someone's feeding him that.
01:59Oh, yeah, no, they're telling him this.
02:00100%.
02:01I do feel like we would have gotten like that typical spring training piece
02:04on how Jaron Duran completely reworked his mechanics.
02:07The big offseason, yeah.
02:08But all we've heard from Cora is he's a different looking hitter up there this year.
02:12He's getting to pitches he didn't think he was getting to a year ago.
02:14I think when you're talking about the WBC, and this is the thing with Yoshida too,
02:18the level of competition in terms of whatever you take away from it is so massive.
02:22If you're hitting guys that are maybe double A or below, good for you.
02:25You should go and dominate those guys.
02:27Jaron Duran, what he did last night,
02:29Matthew Boyd, one of the better lefty pitchers in baseball,
02:32to take him deep twice, that is massive.
02:35Especially when you go back to spring training when he had three home runs
02:38and he had already hit two homers off lefties.
02:40With how bad he was against lefties a year ago, that gives me hope.
02:43Because if he looks like he did in even 24 or 23,
02:46you're going to get a much closer line to 2024 MVP candidate Duran than last year,
02:52which was a good player, a top 15 outfielder, but not an elite player.
02:56Which would be massive for this lineup.
