00:00And I understand it made you pretty emotional.
00:02What were you feeling watching Nico Horner get the just desserts of a contract well-earned?
00:09Yeah, and first of all, just happy for both of those guys.
00:12Obviously, super excited for Pete that he's going to get to be here for a long time
00:16and give him that sense of security.
00:19But yeah, for Nico, I mean, I've been with him for such a long time.
00:23We've been through so much together.
00:27We've seen it all here.
00:30Kind of the ups and the downs.
00:31And we were together through trading everybody in 21 and rebuilding in 22 and 23.
00:39And so I've seen every pitch that he's seen in the big leagues
00:43and been with him for every second of it.
00:45So seeing the work that he puts in behind the scenes,
00:49seeing him go through some injuries and come out the other side.
00:54And it just, for me, it was just such a proud moment when he told me that he got the
01:02extension
01:03and getting to be there for that.
01:06And then to see his family up there and his fiancee and to see them get to celebrate him
01:15and his accomplishments and his achievements.
01:16He deserved this.
01:17He deserved to be a Cub and to be here.
01:21And he's put in a lot of work to get to this point.
01:24You know, it's just not easy to play in this game for as long as he has
01:28and to have the success that he's had.
01:29He does it a little bit differently than what is the kind of conventional baseball wisdom
01:35on how to play the game today.
01:36And he impacts winning on such an amazing level and does it in so many different ways.
01:42And so for him to be rewarded for that and for him to stick true to who he is as
01:46a baseball player
01:47and then eventually, you know, get rewarded for that and have it be appreciated by the organization
01:52is a really special thing.
01:54And yeah, it was definitely emotional for me sitting there
01:58and just, you know, listening to him talk about how special this place is to him.
