The UK can be “very proud” that it is part of Nasa’s Artemis II Moon mission, British astronaut Major Tim Peake has said.A spacecraft is due to launch on Wednesday from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, which would see astronauts fly around the Moon for the first time in more than 50 years.Four astronauts – three American and one Canadian – will take the seats in the vessel, with the trip set to provide “amazing sights of the Moon like we’ve never seen before” in 4K high definition, according to Maj Peake.Maj Peake added: "There’s not an astronaut on the planet who wouldn’t want to be in one of those four seats."

00:00There's not an astronaut on the planet who wouldn't want to be in one of those four seats.
00:14Artemis is hugely exciting really because it is, as I said, our return to the Moon from all those years
00:20ago when the Apollo missions were going on.
00:22We barely scratched the surface of the Moon during those six landings that we had in the Apollo era.
00:38We built the European service module which powers the Orion spacecraft that provides all the electrical power, the life support
00:46systems, the propellant, and so Europe is heavily involved in the Artemis program.
00:53We can be very proud in the UK that we are part of this Artemis mission.
01:03Having that emotional attachment to friends who are sat on top of that rocket will be incredible but there's not
01:11an astronaut on the planet who wouldn't want to be in one of those four seats.
01:14When they actually transit to the Moon, they're going to have three to four days and I think at that
01:19point, you know, they'll be able to just, the pace will ease off a bit, they'll be able to reflect
01:24and then the Moon will just be getting bigger and bigger in the window.
01:27So I think there's going to be several moments during the mission which are going to be quite profound for
01:33them and we'll all be wishing them, you know, well on their journey and for a safe and successful mission.
