Four astronauts from NASA’s Artemis II mission have safely returned to Earth after a 10-day journey around the moon. The crew traveled farther from Earth than any humans before and became the first to take part in a crewed lunar mission in over 50 years. Their successful splashdown in the Pacific marks a key milestone in testing systems for future missions aimed at establishing a long-term human presence on the moon.

00:00This vehicle powered us and it propelled us from the Earth to the Moon and back with extreme precision, and
00:07we are excited to be a part of your team.
00:09After 10 days in space, the crew of the Artemis II Moon mission returns home.
00:14They've reached the highest speed of their journey upon re-entry to Earth.
00:18It's been a historic journey, traveling further from Earth than any other human beings ever.
00:24And they were the first crewed mission to the Moon in over 50 years.
00:28Here we are.
00:29NASA!
00:30That's strong!
00:30All right, let's bring them home.
00:31The crew of four touched down in the Pacific in high spirits, paving the way for humans to return to
00:37the lunar surface.
00:43I am so happy that they were able to make the mission to go there and come back safely.
00:50It is such a true blessing, and I am a proud American today.
00:54When I was two years old, I watched the lunar landing, and this is like...
00:59An entire lifetime, again, to be able to see it happen again, not the landing, but actually the flight to
01:07the Moon, it just...
01:08It was a circle of my entire life, so it was very exciting.
01:13The Artemis 2 mission was a flyby around the Moon and back to Earth.
01:18It tested pivotal systems that could one day help people establish a permanent Moon base.
01:23And we're imperfect people, but occasionally we do something marvelous, and this crew has risked their lives, flown a rocket
01:33ship nobody ever flew, flown a spaceship that no one has ever piloted before, and then reentering the atmosphere, which
01:41no group of people has ever done in this ship.
01:43At a tumultuous time for Earth, four astronauts embarked on a daring and unprecedented mission to the Moon, showing that
01:51when humanity reaches for the stars, it can most certainly achieve things that are out of this world.
