The main opposition Kuomintang (KMT) has nominated Deputy Legislative Speaker Johnny Chiang as its candidate for Taichung mayor. Chiang defeated fellow KMT lawmaker Yang Chiung-ying in party opinion polls. He will face Legislator Ho Hsin-chun of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in November's elections.
