The new party chair of Taiwan's Kuomintang, or KMT, has pledged to focus on Taiwan’s economy and cross-strait peace. In her first day as chair, Cheng Li-wun emphasized internal party reform and generational change. She also announced the formation of a legal aid team to defend party members against political or judicial persecution, while accusing the ruling DPP of abusing its power.
