The main opposition Kuomintang has nominated former Taipei City Deputy Mayor Lee Shu-chuan as its candidate for the upcoming New Taipei mayoral election. The race is heating up as all three of Taiwan's major political parties have thrown their hats in the ring. Elections for local governments will be held in November.
