00:00With these pictures, what are we looking at?
00:01Well, that's just me and the boys.
00:03That's the 21 season when the Bucs won the NBA championship.
00:08And just kind of hanging out inside the bowels of Pfizer Forum.
00:11Whatever happened to the beard?
00:14You know, the beard, it's too much gray.
00:15Too much gray.
00:17I felt 80.
00:18We got the goatee in your profile pic.
00:20You got all kinds of looks.
00:21I'm only 70.
00:22You know, we're going to feel 80.
00:25I'm already old enough.
00:26We got the goatee look here in the head shot.
00:29We got the clean-shaven in real life, Marcus.
00:31It's Lisa Byneton, Marcus Johnson, and Melanie Ricks with you.
00:35The Megabuck starting lineup for Brooke Lopez and the Los Angeles Clippers.
00:39They haven't used this lineup a ton.
00:41Brooke hasn't started every single game,
00:43and Darius Garland hasn't been available every single game.
00:45But they are 3-1 here with this lineup.
00:47Kawhi Leonard coming off that huge shot against the Pacers
00:51with under a second left to play to give them a one-point victory.
00:55All right, and so this is the Megabuck starting lineup for the Milwaukee Bucs.
00:57The 32nd different lineup.
01:00It is the third straight start for one Pete Nance.
01:03It's the first start this season for that guy Ajax.
01:06And his last start back in February of 2025 against Minnesota.
01:12So, you know, Ryan Rollins did go through a walkthrough earlier here today,
01:17and Doc Rivers said he wasn't really even a fan of that.
01:20Ryan Rollins is dealing with a new injury that he picked up,
01:24the left hip flexor injury that he picked up yesterday afternoon against San Antonio.
01:28So they eventually scratched him after the walkthrough.
01:32Just opportunity, opportunity for Ajax to come out here
01:35and, you know, get a chance to handle the point guard duties for this team.
01:40Opportunity for Gary Trent Jr. to continue his tour.
01:43I saw his dad, Gary Trent Sr., yesterday.
01:45Whenever the big fella's in the building, Junior seems to have him.
01:50He does.
01:51He does.
01:51I don't know if he doesn't want to hear his dad's mouth after the game.
01:54I don't know what it is.
01:55But he has a great shooting game.
01:57Yeah, good ball movement on that part.
01:59I just remember he was sitting near us in the playoffs last year.
02:04The closeout game against the Pacers.
02:05The closeout game, and it was a tough finish, as we all know.
02:08And guess who was the first one on the court, you know,
02:10to greet his son and give him a big hug was Gary Sr.
02:14Gary had, what, 36 that game?
02:16He had a great hand of just a...
02:17He had a really good playoff series last year.
02:19Incredible, incredible game that game.
02:21Great playoff series.
02:22So got to keep it going.
02:23I mean, finally, it's come down to, like, the last couple of weeks of the season,
02:26but he's finally into a nice offensive rhythm,
02:29and I just want to see it continue for him.
02:34This Clippers team, 38 and 36, they're above .500.
02:38Hard to believe that they were, like, 14, 15 games below .500
02:41at the start of the season.
02:43They, frankly, have had the turnaround that I think Bucs fans,
02:46and we all were kind of hoping for this team here this year.
02:49First team that has been 15 games under .500, 6-21,
02:53that has had a winning record in the same year.
02:56They did that a few games ago.
02:58It kind of fluctuated between winning and .500 and losing,
03:01but right now they're above .500 again and playing great basketball.
03:04And it's Mon Chang defending Kawhi, who kicks it out to Darius Garland.
03:09And they're 9-2.
03:10And Garland and Kawhi have played together the last 11 games.
03:14This Clippers team is 9-2 in those last 11.
03:16We've got an offensive foul call against Jericho Sims.
03:19The bucket won't count, and it's the first on Jericho.
03:22And that was close to, you know, offensive foul and the bucket counting.
03:26But watch Darius Garland.
03:28He wraps himself up into Jericho Sims,
03:33who's a little too aggressive trying to shed him and get that foul call.
03:38John Collins, who hasn't played against the Bucs in a couple of years.
03:422024, I was looking at.
03:44Hard to believe.
03:46Just various injuries and stuff here for him.
03:48He looked like he was headed to being an all-star caliber player down in Atlanta
03:51when he first started out.
03:53Oh, Jericho, what a move!
03:55The spin and the flush.
03:57And leaving everyone in his dust.
03:59Man, did he leave Brook Lopez in his dust.
04:01And being able to elevate out of that quick spin move is something special.
04:07Great move.
04:08Yeah, Brook Lopez with the touch.
04:09He got a huge ovation.
04:12Back playing for the first time in Milwaukee since he moved on to Los Angeles.
04:19He's going to get honored a little bit later here in the quarter.
04:23Low scoring affair.
04:24Jericho Sims has got all four points if you have that on your bingo card.
04:28You're going to ride the big fella.
04:30The go-to guy, Jericho Sims.
04:33First two possessions.
04:35Nice left-handed finish inside.
04:37He's become the go-to guy.
04:38Only eight players available here for the Bucs today.
04:41Darius Garland, we've seen him do that a time or two wearing the Cavs uniform.
04:45That's what Ty Luce is talking about with Darius Garland.
04:47And he can stretch out the defense with his ability to knock down a deep three.
04:52Usman touches the paint and the kick out to Pete Nance.
04:55As I mentioned, getting his third straight start.
04:58All kinds of great playing time opportunities for Pete.
05:04All kinds of defensive opportunities here.
05:07Guarding a guy like that, Kawhi, makes it look so easy.
05:09And a guy like Usman needs to pay attention to how Kawhi works to get his shot off.
05:13That was just a basic right-to-left crossover.
05:15Got Pete on his heels and then the quick pull-up at the free-throw line.
05:19Great, great space creation by Kawhi Leonard.
05:23Gary Church, Jr.
05:24Knocks down the three.
05:25Last time he played the Clippers, he had a season-high 20 points and a season-high 6 threes.
05:30Yeah, that first three was down but didn't count.
05:32That one counted.
05:33So he's on.
05:34He's got his shooting eye on.
05:37And John Collins now four points for the first nine here for the Clippers.
05:51Usman turning the corner, looking for Jericho.
05:54Brooke Lopez breaks it up.
05:56That is just a textbook Brooke Lopez play.
05:58Yeah, he plays that drop defense as well as anybody in the league still at 37 years old in the
06:04league forever.
06:05He's going to turn 38 this week.
06:07April Fools, yeah.
06:09Birthday's coming up.
06:10He and Robin, right?
06:11Robin's got a similar situation around the same time.
06:14I heard they were twins.
06:16I thought they were identical strangers, no.
06:19You could argue that, too.
06:21Darius Garland will in and out triple, finishes with the left hand,
06:25and Doc Rivers calls a timeout.
06:31Yeah, and then Jericho, watch the spin.
06:33Spin and then elevate.
06:34And this is the way you stop a shot blocker by a guy with a 7'6 wingspan.
06:38You dunk on him.
06:47Well, a thank you in the break to that guy right there, Brooke Lopez,
06:50and the championship he helped to bring here to Milwaukee.
06:53And just watching on the big screen, watching Brooke's reaction.
06:56You know what else is cool is that the Bucs didn't even huddle up during that timeout.
07:01They stood and watched the video on the big screen as well with everybody else.
07:06Yeah, yeah.
07:06And that gives you an idea of just how well-liked, not only well-respected, but just well-liked.
07:12I mean, one of the great human beings, you know, in professional sports.
07:17And, you know, down in Los Angeles, you saw he and Giannis, they talked for about 20 minutes
07:22in the pregame shoot-around, pregame warm-up.
07:26But just great to have him back in Milwaukee.
07:28And great to see him still being a very productive NBA player as long as he's been in the league.
07:32Didn't we ascertain that Giannis is the third identical twin to Brooke Lopez when we were playing down in L
07:38.A.?
07:39They're the third Lopez twin.
07:41Oh, Gary Trent Jr. doesn't have three threes, but he's approaching it.
07:45Two for two, he's going for that third.
07:47And he's a perfect three for three, just speaking into existence.
07:51Yeah, give him a little jaw jacking toward that clipper bench.
07:54Somebody's talking to GT2, he's letting them have it.
07:57Have he knocked down that three-point shot?
08:02Kawhi Leonard, the kick-out to Brooke Lopez, corner shot, gets Pete Nance in the air, but he gives it
08:07up.
08:08The Clippers have shown great ball movement, and there's the flush by Derrick Jones Jr.
08:12We've got the Bucs in a scramble situation.
08:15Nice job by Brooke Lopez, just playing under control.
08:19Pete Nance didn't do a run-by contest, so that kind of put the Clippers in a nice job in
08:25terms of the Bucs' rotation.
08:26Derrick Jones Jr. has been a good addition here for the Clippers, averaging career highs, points scored, in terms of
08:32shooting percentages as well.
08:34And obviously we know what he can do on defense.
08:36Gary Trent Jr. is having himself a first quarter.
08:39Wow.
08:40Little runner, right foot, right hand, off balance.
08:45Hasn't missed a shot.
08:46A perfect four for four, three for three from three.
08:49He's got 11 points here so far.
08:51He's got the last 11 for the Bucs.
08:53Well, and this is where you've got to be careful.
08:55This Clipper team is number two in the league in terms of turning teams over in the month of March.
09:01Now, Kawhi Leonard, 50 straight games that he's had 20 or more points.
09:07And with that three-pointer, he's got five and well on his way.
09:12For the Bucs, remember, Jericho scored the first four points.
09:15Gary Trent Jr. has the last 11 going into this possession.
09:21Because of what Shea was able to do the past couple of seasons, Shea Gilders-Alexander with his consecutive 20
09:26-point game streak,
09:28he just hadn't paid much attention to Kawhi.
09:30But, man, it's remarkable.
09:31Here's Brooke here as a Milwaukee Buc, the footwork that he worked so diligently on with Coach Ben Baker.
09:37You see his numbers and his Bucs career, and his contributions are not just reflected by stats.
09:45His leadership, it's challenging shots at the rim.
09:48It's all kinds of intangibles that he brought to the table.
09:50He's the feature of our Kia player profile.
09:53Doc Rivers had said, Brooke Lopez, and think about all the players, teams he has coached.
09:58He's won a championship in Boston.
09:59He said he's a top five.
10:01Kawhi gets the Buc.
10:03Nope, they're going to wave it off.
10:05They're going to wave it off.
10:06But Doc Rivers said that Brooke Lopez is a top five character guy that he's ever been around.
10:12Yeah, and even more tangibly, you know, I looked at his numbers,
10:16and even though he would average at least a four rebounds, five, six maybe in a good year,
10:20his teams always were one of the lead leaders in defensive rebounding
10:24because he's such a good guy in terms of boxing out his man.
10:27He makes sure that his big doesn't get the ball,
10:29which makes it easier for guys like Giannis to get those rebounds.
10:33Good day, Jacks picking up Darius Garland.
10:36Almost 90 feet there.
10:41It'll be Bucs basketball.
10:43Clippers turn it over.
10:46This is their second here of the corner.
10:51He's so quick, Darius Garland.
10:53It's hard to tell when he gets sped up.
10:54How about Jericho bringing it across?
10:56Yeah, and we've seen a little bit of that more recently.
11:00Bucs trusting Jericho to initiate the offense.
11:03Look at him.
11:03Look at the dive.
11:03Whip pass in the corner.
11:06Gary Trent is his human.
11:08His first miss of the day.
11:12Kawhi, a couple of crossover moves.
11:14The tip is not there.
11:16The third time.
11:16The fourth time.
11:19Bucs escape that possession.
11:22Torian Prince has checked in.
11:24Corner shot.
11:24His makes is good on his first one.
11:27Now that's the one area that the Bucs can try and get out and run on this Clipper defense
11:33before the Clippers and their quick hands and activity can force a turnover and making
11:37things typical for you.
11:38Look at Ajax just wrapping up Brooke Lopez, who is posted up inside the restricted area.
11:45Andre Jackson Jr.'s first.
11:47Yeah, nice job.
11:48Gary Trent Jr. draws a crowd inside.
11:52Lopez a little late on the closeout and nice to see Torian Prince knocked down the corner three.
11:57Benedict Matherin involved in the trade with the Pacers.
12:01He checks in for the first time.
12:03He's got really good numbers in his career.
12:05And there's Chris Dunn who's checking in as well for the first time.
12:08You get some defense with Chris Dunn, but you get major offense.
12:12Yeah.
12:13Benedict Matherin averaging almost 20 points a game since he's been a Clipper,
12:17but he gets to the free throw line at least like eight times a game.
12:20He's so good at drawing fouls.
12:22Ah.
12:24One more dribble, Andre.
12:25Yeah, Ajax never saw Derek Jones Jr. streaking down the court.
12:29You know, he's got to make that defender make a decision.
12:32He picked his dribble up way too high.
12:34Allowed one to play two.
12:36Jones Jr. challenging Jericho Sims.
12:39And if the Bucs want to use it, they've got a five on four here.
12:42Jones Jr. is the last to cross half court.
12:45Gary Trent Jr. now has missed his last two shots.
12:56Garland using that brick screen.
12:58Gives it up.
12:58One extra pass.
12:59Chris Dunn with a three-pointer.
13:01Not just your defensive guy.
13:03Yeah.
13:04No, nice read by Brook Lopez.
13:06Thought he had a pretty open look, but Chris Dunn has improved his shooting.
13:09He's up to 37% as a three-point shooter, and that's what will keep him in the league.
13:13Always a great defensive player.
13:14If he can knock down open threes, three and D guy.
13:17Yeah, here's their other defensive guy, Derek Jones Jr., who takes it right at Torian Prince.
13:22It's a 21-18 advantage.
13:23This is the lineup that they use by putting Chris Dunn on the floor along with Derek Jones Jr.
13:29Not so much Benedict Matherin.
13:31He's more the offensive guy.
13:32But they create a lot of turnovers for the offense of the Milwaukee Bucks.
13:45Ajax looks like he got pushed a little bit on that triple handoff, and there is a reach-in foul.
13:50But you saw these second efforts defensively to close down that passing lane in the restricted area on that possession.
13:58Even though there was a foul, this Clipper defense, Jeff Van Gundy kind of spearheads this defense.
14:03There's two on the ball, but watch.
14:05Here's a stop in the ball.
14:06Baseline Garland, and when the pass is attempted toward the restricted area, you've got two defenders sagging back from the
14:11weak side.
14:12Jeff Van Gundy doing a great job orchestrating this defense with the emphasis being on fortune turnovers.
14:17There's more possessions for the Clippers.
14:25Pete Nance can't find it, and into the hands here of Matherin.
14:30Three and a half left to play.
14:31That's a long two.
14:32His toe is on the line.
14:35You mentioned his numbers, Marcus.
14:37He's averaging almost 20 points per game in his career against Milwaukee.
14:41Kind of licks his lips whenever he plays against the Bucks.
14:44Clippers on a 7-0 run that ends there.
14:46Pete Nance laying.
14:47That's what I like about Pete Nance.
14:48I mean, he's rolling hard to the basket as someone to create some gravity, but the ball came to him.
14:54He's got great hands.
14:55The ability to kind of catch and finish with one fluid motion right there.
14:58A thing of beauty.
15:02Bucks in a 2-3 zone.
15:06You think we'll see more zone with only eight guys available here today?
15:10Yeah, you should.
15:10I mean, just to, you know, if nothing else, just to give these guys a little more rest at the
15:14defense event.
15:17Andre Jackson, Jr. for three.
15:20Ties it at 23 and forces the Clippers timeout.
15:26Ajax back in the starting lineup.
15:29He's going to get some hefty minutes, and he pulls the trigger on this hefty three-pointer to tie it
15:34all up at FISER.
15:36Welcome back to FanDuel Sports Network.
15:37We're here at FISER for more.
15:39The score is tied at 23, and I am here with yet another Johnson.
15:43You met him during our pregame show.
15:45This is J. Marcus Johnson, son of Bucks great future NBA Hall of Famer Marcus Johnson,
15:51and we're here to talk about a few things.
15:53So, first off, I want to talk about something cool that happened on Friday at the practice.
15:58This year, this is Nazeer Monroe, and as part of Make-A-Wish, he got to sign a one-day
16:03contract with the Bucks,
16:05and as you can see, got up shots with the guys, and this is our Michaels Building Momentum moment,
16:09got up shots with the guys with your dad,
16:11and one of the reasons why I want to talk to you about this is because I know that you
16:15have a special connection with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
16:17Are you okay with sharing your story with us?
16:19Yeah, absolutely.
16:20So, I'm a survivor of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
16:24I went through that process, the whole chemotherapy process, from the ages of 7 to 11,
16:28and then also got a chance to take my family to Hawaii through Make-A-Wish,
16:32and so anytime I can kind of give back to a cause to just Make-A-Wish that has such
16:38an important place in my heart
16:40and just left such profound memories, I always try to make sure to do it,
16:43so just seeing that just meant the world to me.
16:45Well, and to see it come full circle, you're here now with us,
16:48and also you star on Tyler Perry's All the Queensmen on BET Network.
16:52You know, I have to plug you there.
16:53What do you remember from that time, and what was it like for you to get to that point to
16:57where you are now?
16:58Oh, God, what don't I remember?
17:00A lot of sleepless nights, lots of tears, lots of hardship, a lot of prayer, you know, a lot of
17:06resilience,
17:06and a lot of perseverance, and looking back on it now, it's like I asked myself if I could change
17:11anything, would I?
17:12And honestly, I would go through it all over again just in order to kind of maintain the perspective that
17:18I do have in life.
17:19That's amazing.
17:20Well, and something that Doc Rivers had said today when I asked him about this,
17:23he said, you know, when you have a moment like this with the Make-A-Wish Foundation,
17:27it really brings you back to reality, especially when you're in the midst of a, you know,
17:31a not-so-great time that the team is having right now.
17:33What does that mean to you for them to be able to have a visitor like that
17:37and kind of see what it's like on the other side?
17:39Doc Rivers, he said, the NBA isn't real life.
17:42That right there, that's real life.
17:44I mean, it just honestly puts things to perspective,
17:46and it minimizes the things that I think are problems.
17:49You know what I mean?
17:50Like, there's things that we're dealing with that are real, you know what I mean?
17:55And the things that we think that are bothering us, those things are usually temporary, you know?
18:00And, like, I can even speak from that experience, and those things are really temporary.
18:03And so it's like, you know, it's just teaching not to switch to small stuff
18:06and to be appreciative of life and living and giving and just doing the whole thing.
18:11Thank you so much, Shane Marcus, for sharing your story.
18:12Really appreciate you.
18:13Lisa, Marcus, we're going to go back to you just so you know, Marcus.
18:16I told Doc that we're doing the Johnson family takeover today.
18:19He said make sure they tell him the truth, the whole truth,
18:21and nothing but the truth about their dad.
18:26That's a great story.
18:27I mean, we have a few seconds left here in the quarter.
18:29What do you remember about that experience?
18:31Man, you know, I don't wish it on any parent just to have that happen with Josh.
18:35We didn't know what was going on.
18:37His legs were on fire.
18:38He was crying, a lot of pain.
18:39No doctor could diagnose it.
18:41We took him to UCLA, an intern, at least of all people.
18:43He said, I got an idea.
18:44An intern.
18:45I'm going to run some tests.
18:46I don't know.
18:46I don't want to tell you what I'm suspecting until I find out for sure,
18:49and then it came out to be leukemia.
18:50But just the respect that I have for Josh for going through it,
18:54the family, for supporting him.
18:55He was on chemo, lost all of his hair.
18:59Chris, myself, Josiah, we all shaved our heads at the same time.
19:02Did you really?
19:02And it wasn't even in vogue back then.
19:04It was like, yeah, that was a weird look back then,
19:06but we all shaved our heads just to be in solidarity with Josh.
19:11Well, that's a pretty incredible story.
19:16All right.
19:16I think we've got a Coach's Challenge here coming up
19:18with about 18 seconds left in the first quarter.
19:20I'm out to initiate the Coach's Challenge on the offensive foul,
19:23Seth Matherin.
19:24Okay.
19:24So the challenge in the offensive foul call on Benedict Matherin.
19:27See, everybody's got a shade here now.
19:29Look at this dude.
19:29That's right.
19:29Mark Davis.
19:33BJ, it's like boneheads all around.
19:36Crazy boneheads.
19:37Today's Coach's Challenge brought to you by Freighter
19:40and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
19:42A charge or a block?
19:44Yeah, that puts in restricted.
19:46That's a block.
19:47I mean, that's a great job trying to establish position,
19:49but if your foot's on that restricted line,
19:51it's an automatic blocking foul on C-Mac Ryan.
19:56Yeah, you know, he gave his best, though.
19:58No, he did.
19:58No, I love the presence of mind to try and get there
20:01to prevent an easy basket.
20:03I love his effort.
20:04It'll be the first on Cormac Ryan.
20:06I'm assuming that...
20:08Unless the official saw something we didn't.
20:10Yeah, right.
20:11That heel...
20:12They're still at the score.
20:13Was the heel elevated?
20:14Now, from that angle, that's interesting.
20:17If the heel is elevated,
20:19it's like being on the sideline.
20:21I think Sean Elliott furs years back in the playoffs.
20:24As long as that heel doesn't come down,
20:27maybe there's a chance.
20:29They're taking their sweet time.
20:32You know, we were doing the interview.
20:34Cormac Ryan had a nice move
20:35with the left-handed finish during the interview.
20:38And I love that about him.
20:39What a power supply.
20:40Yeah, don't be a one-trick pony.
20:41Don't just, you know, be a long...
20:45outside bomber like he's so good at.
20:48All right, here's Mark Davis.
20:49Upon review, it's been determined
20:51that the defender had his right foot
20:52in the restricted area.
20:53Therefore, this has been overturned
20:55to a restricted area block.
20:57The foul will be assessed
20:58and the ball will be awarded
20:59to pre-throw line extended.
21:02As this is their second, third timeout of the period,
21:04Elliott will get their timeout back
21:05and they have one additional challenge.
21:08All right, Mark Davis is our crew chief.
21:10Who's a dagger, our referee.
21:11Evan Scott is our umpire.
21:14Mark Davis in his 28th season.
21:17Doc is like, man, Benedict,
21:19why did you have to play so well
21:19in the playoffs against us last year?
21:23A great pickup for the Clippers.
21:26Yeah, it is.
21:26He's instant offense
21:27and he gets to the free-throw line.
21:29That's, you know,
21:29that's one of the most efficient shots there is.
21:32Evita Zubats is going to be
21:34a good blend for the Pacers, too.
21:35I think it was a win-win for both teams.
21:38And the tip-in is good there for Matherin.
21:40Speaking of which.
21:41Yeah, Doc didn't, you know,
21:43tell him to stop it hard enough, I guess.
21:46Got the two on the tip-in.
21:47Ajax with the crossover.
21:49Floats it up.
21:51Back of the rim.
21:52And 29 to 25.
21:54Actually, a pretty entertaining first quarter.
21:57Six lead changes, four ties.
21:59Largest lead between any of these teams
22:01has been five points.
22:02Right now, the deficit is four
22:04between the Clippers and the Bucs.
22:12Matinee special, 29 to 25
22:14at the start of the second quarter.
22:15It's also a Jackson, Jackson, Johnson.
22:18Easy for me to say.
22:19I was about to say the Jackson five.
22:20It kind of feels like that
22:22with all the Johnson spread around here
22:24at the five-serve form.
22:25This is Chris Johnson.
22:26You guys, I know Bucs fans
22:28have recognized him, right,
22:30as part of the here district
22:31that you guys do your podcast.
22:33And, of course, we had to have
22:34one of the Johnson sons
22:36up here in the booth.
22:39You can talk, Chris.
22:40I'm a little nervous.
22:41Oh, okay.
22:43I'm not used to this side of it.
22:45I'm not used to it.
22:46Not to make you even more nervous,
22:47but I hear your dad
22:48wants to do a little play-by-play.
22:50Just a little.
22:51So I'm just going to step aside here
22:52and let some father-son action.
22:55Lisa, don't go anywhere.
22:57Don't go too far.
22:59So, yeah, it's just like we do
23:02on our podcast.
23:02It's all about that action.
23:05It's something that we do.
23:06And so the Bucs right now
23:08down by six.
23:09The second quarter, Chris,
23:11against the Clippers in L.A.
23:12and the Clippers outscored
23:13the Bucs 43-23, 49 turnover.
23:17So this is a really, really
23:19important part of the game
23:20for the Bucs to maintain contact.
23:22Yeah, very much so.
23:23It's important for them
23:24to step up on the defensive side
23:26of things.
23:26And you can see it already.
23:27They're a little bit more intense
23:28on that possession.
23:30But kind of do it without fouling.
23:32Yeah.
23:33So we've got a foul here
23:37on the Bucs.
23:37Bucs were in a 2-3 zone
23:39against the Clippers,
23:40trying to make them beat them
23:41over the top.
23:42Looks like they're going
23:42to stay here.
23:43As Lisa talked about,
23:44Bucs ain't available players.
23:45So that zone will help
23:46conserve some energy.
23:48And Matherin to Batum.
23:50Batum, one dribble sidestep
23:52and has a face job
23:54for his fellow Frenchman.
23:57In the face, in the face.
24:00Nice little sidestep
24:01by Batum.
24:02It's crazy to see Batum
24:03still out here doing it
24:04at such a high level.
24:06Torian Prince misses
24:07the break line three-point shot.
24:10Clippers not really looking
24:11to run, like to do their thing
24:12in the half court.
24:13They've got a mismatch inside.
24:15John Collins, 6-9
24:16against A.J. Green.
24:17And that's...
24:19Nice job by Torian Prince
24:20on the help.
24:21Way to come over
24:21from the help side.
24:22Got it up.
24:25Thought he was going
24:26to dunk on him.
24:26Yeah.
24:27And Pete's really good
24:28coming off the left foot
24:30coming down the middle.
24:31Always say, Chris,
24:31he may not have the hops
24:33of his older brother
24:34and his dad,
24:35Larry Nance Sr. Jr.
24:36but you give him a runway
24:37and he can get up
24:38and do some things.
24:39But watch this great job
24:40on the bailout block
24:42on the dive.
24:43Yeah, Torian just gets
24:44over there right in time,
24:46times it perfectly.
24:47Give me that stuff.
24:49Yeah, see, and Torian,
24:50you know, missed a lot
24:52of the season
24:52with that neck injury.
24:54He'd made up in his mind.
24:55He had a target day,
24:56Chris, to come back.
24:58He came back a lot sooner
25:00than he initially thought
25:01he was going to be able to.
25:02And the more he plays, man,
25:03the more comfortable
25:04he's getting on the four
25:05at both ends.
25:06Yeah, you had a similar injury
25:07and it takes a while
25:08to get the confidence
25:09back from that
25:10where you trust yourself,
25:11trust the jumping,
25:12trust the landing.
25:13It looks like Torian
25:14is getting back to that.
25:15Yeah, I still don't trust it.
25:17You just dunked
25:18the other day, dude.
25:18You just dunked the other day.
25:19I don't want to hear it, bro.
25:20I don't want to hear it.
25:22That was defense.
25:24Put nine other bodies
25:26out there.
25:26It's a whole other thing.
25:27Cormac Ryan,
25:28deep corner three.
25:29Nice job.
25:30Nice beam.
25:30Nice find.
25:31By Uzi Usman Jang
25:33to C-Mac Ryan.
25:35Yeah, Jang has impressed me
25:37this year
25:37with his ability
25:38to create, move it,
25:39push it in the middle
25:40of the floor
25:40and find guys
25:41at a high speed.
25:43All right, Miller
25:44going to drive,
25:45kick it back out,
25:45draw the crowd inside.
25:46And there's your guy,
25:47Nicholas Batum,
25:48but he misses that
25:49wide open three.
25:56Jang going to initiate
25:58the offense
25:58from out top.
25:59Little DHO
26:00with GT2.
26:02Victorian Prince
26:03hit that tee.
26:04Hit that tee.
26:05Hit that tee.
26:06Can box that up.
26:07TP.
26:08Fade right corner.
26:09Nice find.
26:10Good offense.
26:12This unit's actually
26:12played really,
26:13really solid basketball
26:14for the first
26:15two and a half minutes
26:16of this quarter.
26:16Yeah, this unit
26:17has a nice chemistry.
26:18Guys are taking the shot
26:19when they have it
26:21and then they're looking
26:21to share the sugar
26:22and create for each other.
26:24And that's a great point.
26:25You've got some
26:26exceptional shooters
26:26out there
26:27for the bustle
26:28at this lineup.
26:29And this guy here
26:30is an exceptional shooter.
26:31Only 32%
26:32from the three-point line,
26:33but you give him
26:33anything inside
26:34that three-point line,
26:35he is danger,
26:36personified,
26:37Benedict Matherin.
26:41High ball screen.
26:43Uzi and Nance.
26:45Dang.
26:46That's a nice snatchback
26:47as Jim Paschke
26:48used to call it,
26:49that little dribble move
26:50at the elbow,
26:50through the leg,
26:51step back.
26:52Yeah, he was looking
26:52in the corner
26:53for the open guy,
26:54but decided not to
26:56after the defense rotated.
26:57That was a good read
26:58by Jane.
27:00Chris Dunn is up
27:01around 37% this season.
27:03I'm still not convinced
27:04he is a reliable
27:05three-point shooter,
27:05so that's not a bad
27:06open look to give,
27:07but Chris Dunn,
27:08you've got to make him
27:08make him prove
27:09he can knock it down.
27:10Absolutely.
27:10GT2,
27:11a little screen
27:12and roll action
27:12with Pete Nance,
27:14Torian Prince.
27:15Good defense
27:16by the Clippers.
27:16They are smothering
27:18everything the Bucs
27:19want to do
27:20and force Uzi
27:20into a tough step back
27:22with about two seconds
27:22left on the shot clock.
27:24Uzi's got a deep bag,
27:25man.
27:26He can get what he wants
27:27when he wants.
27:29Good look there.
27:30Let's see what Uzi's
27:31got on defense
27:32against John Collins.
27:36And this is what
27:36we talked about
27:37not only a good
27:37shooting unit
27:38for the Bucs,
27:39but pretty solid
27:40defensively also.
27:40Good rotation.
27:41Excellent rotation.
27:42Excellent rotation to read.
27:44It's all about
27:45multiple efforts
27:46and here's
27:48C-Mac Ryan.
27:49I mean,
27:49you want him to take
27:49as many as those
27:50as he can find.
27:53Couldn't find
27:53Torian Prince
27:54on that play.
27:56Let's watch it here.
27:58that's Uzi.
27:58Jang with the flying
27:59Cormac Ryan.
28:01Cormac Ryan feet
28:01ready hands
28:02in the shot pocket
28:04knocks it down.
28:04Yeah,
28:05and that's the thing
28:05about him
28:06and also Torian Prince.
28:07You let these guys
28:08get their feet set
28:09at the three-point line,
28:10get the shoulders square
28:11and more often than not,
28:14you're going to find
28:14the bottom of the net.
28:15Uh-oh.
28:16Claw back in the game.
28:17The fun guy.
28:17Kawhi Leonard,
28:18double-teamed.
28:19Bucs trying to get
28:19the ball out of his hands.
28:20They tried to do that
28:21in Los Angeles, Chris,
28:22and Brooke Lopez
28:23went off
28:23in the third quarter.
28:26But not a bad strategy
28:28with the way
28:28Kawhi Leonard
28:29has been playing
28:3050 straight games
28:31of 20-plus points
28:32or more.
28:32Sheesh.
28:34My words exactly.
28:35My sentiments exactly.
28:37Usman Jang
28:38against Benedict Matherin.
28:39Now, again,
28:40you're settling
28:41as opposed to
28:42trying to push it
28:43into the paint
28:44to collapse that defense.
28:46The Bucs have settled
28:46for long jumpers
28:48the last couple of possessions.
28:49And that's part
28:49of the balancing act
28:50with Jang
28:50and something he's
28:51got to get better at
28:52is knowing when
28:53to shoot it,
28:54when to take,
28:55and then when
28:55to create for others.
28:57Yeah, but that's
28:58a good job by Usman
28:59that late double
29:00on Kawhi Leonard.
29:01So long,
29:02active hands
29:03by the Bucs.
29:04It really collapsed
29:05at Benedict Matherin,
29:06one of the best
29:06in the league,
29:07it gets to the
29:07free throw line
29:07and says,
29:08hey, man,
29:08I shoot 10 free throws
29:10a game over the last
29:11five games.
29:11Call a foul.
29:12And some other words,
29:14other choice of words
29:14that he had
29:16for the officials
29:17sprinkle in there.
29:18Gets himself
29:19the technical foul.
29:20That's the PG version.
29:22A.J.
29:23Gurdon will shoot
29:24a game over the last
29:26game over the last
29:27game over the last
29:28game over the last
29:28All right,
29:29we'll be back.
29:30Bucs down three.
29:316.50 left here
29:32in the second quarter.
29:46All right, Bucs doing
29:48a nice job here early
29:49in this second quarter.
29:51They've actually outscored
29:52the Clippers 8-7,
29:53but it's too early
29:54as we take a trek
29:55down memory lane.
29:56That's your first
29:57state championship
29:58as a junior.
29:59Chris was junior
30:00state player of the year.
30:02Josiah.
30:03Rocking number 54
30:04at UCLA.
30:06Handsome.
30:07Yeah.
30:08Debonair.
30:08With all the gray hair
30:09for both of us.
30:10You looking great.
30:12And I was doing
30:12the color for your
30:14regional.
30:15Yep.
30:15Southern California
30:16regional finals,
30:17and that's the game.
30:18You had the double
30:18spin move against
30:20Mater Dei, right?
30:21The great Gary McKnight
30:23Shea Cotton.
30:24Shea Cotton.
30:25The man child.
30:26Miles Simon and crew.
30:28Indeed.
30:30Feel like
30:32Barbara Streisand
30:33at the Oscars.
30:34Memories.
30:35Where would you
30:36miss these this year?
30:37Man, she was giving
30:38tribute to
30:39who was that
30:40that passed away?
30:41Rob Ryan?
30:42No, no.
30:43Probably that.
30:43No, no.
30:44It was Robert Redford.
30:45Robert Redford.
30:46Yeah, yeah.
30:46The way we were.
30:47So she broke into
30:48a rendition of
30:49The Way We Were
30:50in homage
30:51to Robert Redford.
30:53All right.
30:54Let's get back
30:54to basketball.
30:56He's Monday
30:56defended by
30:57Kawhi Leonard
30:58who made his chops
30:59as a defensive
31:00stopper with
31:01the San Antonio Spurs.
31:02Ask LeBron James
31:03about that.
31:04A.J. misses
31:05the fadeaway
31:06at the free throw line.
31:07I think we're going
31:07to see a steady diet
31:08of Kawhi ISO
31:11as this team
31:12is one of the
31:12top isolation teams
31:14in the league.
31:15Again, trying to get
31:16the ball out of
31:16that initial
31:17ball handler's hands
31:18whether it's
31:18Kawhi Leonard
31:19or Garland,
31:21Darius Garland
31:22and make some
31:23of these other guys
31:24have to make plays.
31:25I like that.
31:26I like that from the Bucs.
31:27Throw a wrinkle in there.
31:29You know, you've got
31:29Chris Dunn
31:30who's more of a
31:31defensive player.
31:32Jordan Miller
31:32still a young player.
31:33Make guys that make shots.
31:35Nicholas Batum
31:36we talked about him.
31:37He's, you know,
31:38Batum a little long
31:39in the tooth
31:40but still.
31:42Why are you laughing, baby?
31:43He's a 40%
31:44three points shooter, though.
31:45A little sage
31:46long in the tooth.
31:47Long in the tooth.
31:50Oh, my God.
31:52Just another way
31:53of saying he's old.
31:54He's been around
31:55for a while
31:55but still productive.
31:58Now, when he first
31:58came in the league
31:59between him listed
32:00Chris at like 6'9".
32:01I know they did.
32:02Now he's all the way
32:03down to 6'7".
32:05Wow.
32:05So, is it true
32:07that you start shrinking
32:09as you get older?
32:10Well, I think,
32:10I think
32:13the NBA starts expecting
32:14more honesty
32:15in the measurements.
32:16So, you can't get away
32:18with the budging
32:19on the height
32:19as you could.
32:21So, instead of 6'7",
32:22I'd be 6'7",
32:23I'd be like
32:246'5 and a half
32:25probably.
32:26Three quarters probably.
32:28Alright, here come the bucks.
32:29Done.
32:30Defending.
32:31Brooke, nice job
32:32on the show.
32:34And, you know,
32:34Brooke normally plays
32:35drop defense,
32:36but right there
32:37shows the foot speed.
32:38They're doing more of that.
32:39Watch that.
32:39Look at that.
32:39The little blitz
32:40on the screen
32:40by Brooke Lopez.
32:42Yeah, Clippers
32:43super active
32:44in rotation
32:45moving their feet.
32:46Bucks making
32:47the right reads, though.
32:48Yeah, well, ironically,
32:49this is how they wanted
32:50Brooke to play
32:51when Adrian Griffin
32:52took over
32:53before Doc Rivers
32:54replaced Adrian.
32:55Have Brooke
32:57kind of challenging
32:58those screens
32:59at the level
32:59of the pick.
33:01There's Brooke.
33:02Brooke being a pest
33:03with that 7'6".
33:04Wingspan gets a piece
33:05of it from Jane.
33:07It's also a little bit
33:08on Jane
33:09on that play.
33:10Kawhi knocks down
33:10the 3.
33:11Jane driving the lane,
33:12you know,
33:12kind of loosey-goosey
33:13with the rock.
33:14Yeah.
33:14He's got to be like
33:15a running back
33:15in the lane,
33:16you know,
33:16cover that thing up.
33:17Yeah, and just a little
33:18indecisiveness
33:19on his part.
33:20He didn't really
33:21have a plan
33:22when he penetrated.
33:23He's got a plan.
33:24GT2.
33:25He started off hot.
33:27Can't find that one.
33:28Here comes Jordan Miller.
33:31Miller defended
33:32by Torian Prince.
33:33It's a tough matchup
33:35for AJ, Chris.
33:36A tough matchup
33:37for AJ.
33:37He gets to his spot
33:38and rises.
33:42Shot by Kawhi.
33:44Yeah, that's just
33:44what he does.
33:46So patient
33:46in the paint.
33:48Always collected
33:49whatever he's doing
33:50no matter what the
33:51defense is doing
33:52against him.
33:52You know,
33:53it's tough to
33:53double-team a guy
33:54in the middle of the floor,
33:55but as strong
33:56and smart as Kawhi Leonard
33:57is, it's going to be
33:58a tough, tough matchup
34:00for AJ Green
34:00at 6'4".
34:01That's what he wants
34:02you to do.
34:06Look at this guy.
34:07Jericho Sims
34:07keeping the possession
34:08alive.
34:09Another offensive rebound.
34:10Great find.
34:11Great find by Jericho Sims
34:13after tracking down
34:14the long rebound
34:15off the offensive line.
34:17Love those kickouts
34:18for open threes
34:19off of offensive rebound.
34:21This Terry is Garland.
34:23Sheesh.
34:24What a pickup.
34:25And initially,
34:27he didn't feel good
34:28about leaving Cleveland
34:29to go to Los Angeles.
34:31Really?
34:32That's what I said.
34:34What's up with you?
34:38Hey, let's talk
34:39about your
34:39Hall of Fame,
34:41my guy.
34:41Oh, boy.
34:42Look.
34:43Here y'all go.
34:43The last championship
34:44for John Wooden,
34:45the 77 NCAA
34:47Player of the Year,
34:47third overall pick
34:48of the 77 draft,
34:50five-time NBA
34:51All-Star.
34:53Jersey is retired
34:54by both UCLA
34:55and the Milwaukee Bucks.
34:56MJ, talk to me
34:58about what you're
34:59feeling right now
35:00on the eve
35:01of getting the call.
35:03Yeah, you know,
35:03I've gotten the call
35:04three times
35:05before.
35:06Much to my chagrin,
35:07it hadn't worked
35:07out in my favor.
35:08John DeLiva,
35:08like the Angel of Death,
35:10delivered the news.
35:11Hopefully,
35:11he'll be the Angel
35:12of Mercy tomorrow.
35:15Change his Angel outfit.
35:17Let's hope so.
35:18My fingers are crossed, man.
35:19Nice.
35:20That's a nice job,
35:21Darius Garland.
35:22Finding airplane mode.
35:23Derrick Jones, Jr.
35:26All right.
35:27Clippers starting
35:28to find their rhythm.
35:29Buck to ten points down.
35:31Lisa will take
35:32the hot seat
35:33back away from me.
35:34It's about time.
35:35Give it back, Marcus.
35:38Come get it.
35:40Oh, the Bucks legends.
35:44Bucks in six.
35:45Look at all these guys.
35:47Got the Bucks
35:48soiree tomorrow,
35:49so it's been
35:50a big Bucks
35:51legends weekend, Marcus.
35:53And it's always good
35:53to see all these
35:54familiar faces.
35:55Jim Paske
35:56in the house as well.
35:58Looking nice and tan,
35:59kind of hanging out
36:00in Florida these days.
36:01Yeah, I know.
36:02He looks refreshed.
36:03He looks like he's retired.
36:04Yeah, he does.
36:05He's got that retired glow to him.
36:07Some great, great talent
36:08on the floor.
36:09Terry Cummings,
36:10we were involved
36:11in the trade
36:12that sent me
36:12to the Clippers.
36:13He came closer
36:14to home
36:15being from Chicago.
36:17One of the tougher
36:18small forwards
36:20to have to defend
36:21at 6'7",
36:22about 206,
36:238, actually,
36:246'9".
36:25I think they have listed
36:25at about 245 pounds.
36:28Bobby Simmons,
36:30Charlie Villanueva,
36:31Paul Pressey,
36:32the rubber band man.
36:33I'm told Paul Pressey
36:34might join us
36:35in the third quarter.
36:36Okay.
36:36All right, Chris.
36:38Got all kinds of guests
36:39moving around
36:40here this afternoon.
36:42How was it broadcasting
36:43with your son?
36:44It was good.
36:44It was good.
36:45I had a good time.
36:46We worked together before,
36:48but he's doing
36:49sidelines and other things.
36:51And of course,
36:51the podcast is here
36:52just to have a good time
36:53doing that stuff.
36:54Appreciate you guys
36:55giving us an opportunity.
36:56Oh, yeah.
36:57Familiar voices here
36:59in Bucks country, right?
37:01Yeah.
37:01Here are the two of you guys.
37:02We just wish
37:04it was under
37:04better circumstances,
37:05but it is what it is.
37:08Oh, boy.
37:10Talking about
37:10a split.
37:12Step back, move.
37:12The three doesn't fall.
37:13Pete Nance with the rebound.
37:21And left wide open.
37:24You know,
37:25they've really got
37:26Brooke blitzing
37:27a lot of screens.
37:28Everybody thought
37:29that he was too slow
37:30a flip to be.
37:32a potential
37:33three-point play,
37:34four-point play
37:35for Gary Trent Jr.
37:40I mean, you know,
37:42it took a while
37:43for that offensive rhythm
37:45to kind of get there.
37:47And when I say that,
37:48as Gary Trent Jr.
37:49draws the contact,
37:50focuses through the shot,
37:51knocks it down.
37:53But, you know,
37:53his minutes have been sporadic.
37:56You know,
37:56it hasn't been like
37:57he has just been in the rotation
37:58full board
38:00and has struggled
38:00shooting the ball.
38:01But he's the kind of guy,
38:02the more minutes he gets,
38:03the more rhythm
38:03he's able to develop.
38:04You can see it right there.
38:06As we saw it,
38:07you mentioned the Pacer
38:08closeout game,
38:0936 or whatever it was,
38:10shooting lights out.
38:13And he makes good
38:14on the four-point play.
38:15That was today's
38:16Jägermeister shot of the day.
38:19A little matinee
38:20back-to-back here
38:21for the Milwaukee Bucks.
38:22And Gary Trent Jr.,
38:23you know,
38:23on the road trip,
38:24the last two games
38:25of the road trip,
38:26at the Clippers
38:27and at Portland,
38:28he got on the early bus
38:29with the staff,
38:31Kawhi Leonard
38:31with the mid-range jumper.
38:33Now,
38:33for those who don't
38:34understand our,
38:34you know,
38:35our kind of regular rhythm,
38:36when we go to shoot-arounds,
38:37there's two buses,
38:38one for the staff members
38:39that go early
38:40and one for the players
38:41and coaches.
38:42Gary Trent Jr.,
38:43he's got that ball
38:44and the shot in the corner.
38:46Went early,
38:47both times.
38:48Said he just wanted
38:49to try to make the most
38:50of his reps
38:50and his minutes here
38:51right now,
38:52make sure that
38:52he felt confident
38:54in his shot
38:55and his game.
38:57So,
38:57putting in the extra time.
38:59Kawhi Leonard,
38:59that's a three-pointer.
39:00And Kawhi's up to 15 points
39:02here in the first half.
39:03His rhythm,
39:04I mean,
39:04whether it's mid-range shots,
39:06contested or not,
39:07or three-point shots
39:08off the dribble
39:08like that,
39:09the last one was.
39:11Kawhi's locked in.
39:18Like the ball moving,
39:19like the body moving
39:20by the Bucs,
39:21would it lead to an open shot,
39:22a quality shot,
39:23we shall see.
39:25Nice job.
39:26But Lopez,
39:26once again,
39:27just gumming up the worst
39:29with that blitz on screens.
39:35Time for a quick message
39:36from StubHub.
39:49Marcus,
39:50I noticed
39:50our production staff
39:51didn't have you read
39:52any promos,
39:53do any of all that
39:56extracurricular
39:57as a play-by-play.
39:58Good decisions by them.
40:01Smart.
40:03You've got some geniuses
40:04in the front.
40:06Oh.
40:07Give me all this stuff.
40:08Darius Garland,
40:09that is a tough two,
40:10by the way.
40:10High off the glass.
40:11Look,
40:12it only had a little bit
40:13at a time,
40:13Lisa.
40:15Smooth feed me.
40:17A.J. Green with the miss.
40:19A.J. Green with the miss.
40:22A.J. one for four here
40:23from three.
40:24Love to see him
40:26get going.
40:27you get a promo.
40:28Here we go.
40:28Okay, see.
40:29Yeah.

40:40the comedian's comedian
40:42Tony T. Roberts.
40:43Tickets are on sale now

40:48That promo
40:49was designed
40:50just for you.
40:53Oh.
40:55I'm giving you
40:56all of the concert promos.
40:58Yeah.
40:58It's my vote.
41:05I saw Mike Epps
41:07and crew here
41:08at the
41:09Mecca
41:09of all places.
41:11Oh, you did?
41:11Yeah,
41:11about three years ago.
41:13And they were
41:14really good,
41:15Bellary.
41:15Mike,
41:16Mike Epps
41:17Earthquake,
41:18that whole crew.
41:19And they were
41:20funny as all
41:20get out.
41:22Well,
41:22you got another chance
41:23to see him again.
41:24Yeah.
41:24If you want.
41:25Are we going to be in town?
41:26What is that?
41:27I don't recall the date.
41:30Season will be over,
41:31right?
41:34I think so.
41:35Yeah.
41:3519 to 7,
41:36though,
41:36Clippers run.
41:37That's how much
41:38I was listening to
41:38the promo read,
41:39by the way.
41:39Exactly.
41:41That's how much
41:41you were making
41:42attention.
41:42You were reading
41:43the promo.
41:46You paid attention.
41:47Both there.
41:51Jericho showed
41:52some dribble
41:53skills.
41:55Getting more
41:55and more
41:56into his bag.
41:56Nice job.
41:57Garland and Jericho.
41:59Too much contact,
42:00but Darius Garland
42:01is so quick.
42:02It gives.
42:03This is a great
42:04pickup for the
42:04Clippers.
42:05I mean,
42:07Lawrence Frank,
42:08I don't know
42:08who's calling
42:08those personnel shots,
42:10but this young man
42:10right here,
42:11at least a two-time
42:12all-star.
42:13You know,
42:14been slow this season
42:15with a toe injury
42:16that the Cavs
42:17didn't think
42:17he'd be able
42:18to come back from,
42:18but played with his dad
42:22for a hot minute
42:22at Golden State.
42:23His dad,
42:24Winston,
42:24the former Clipper,
42:26and he's the
42:26spitting image
42:27of his father.
42:28Yeah.
42:29But a lot quicker.
42:30Way, way quicker
42:31than his daddy.
42:37Something to be said.
42:38We see it with Pete Nance
42:40and family that's
42:41played in the NBA.
42:42There's just something
42:43about kids who grow up
42:45in the NBA.
42:46Yeah.
42:47You know,
42:48everyone,
42:48I think every youngster
42:50has a goal,
42:51whether you're a boy
42:52or a little boy
42:52or a little girl,
42:53about playing professionally,
42:54but it feels different,
42:55right?
42:56If you see it
42:57and you live it
42:57through your parents.
42:59And, you know,
42:59you've seen those
43:00great videos
43:00of Jalen Brown
43:01Johnson and his dog
43:02Rick and the workouts
43:03that they were doing.
43:04Jalen was like
43:0511, 12 years old.
43:08And any,
43:09and I say this
43:10with the, you know,
43:11with the Johnson family
43:12takeover at full effect,
43:13but any dad worth his salt,
43:16moms too,
43:16but you just want
43:17to see your kids
43:18do better than you.
43:19You know,
43:20people think
43:21it's competition.
43:21It's not even about that.
43:22You just want to see them
43:23fulfill their potential
43:25and if that means
43:25they super,
43:26when me and Jay Marcus
43:27go out in Los Angeles,
43:28he was on the show,
43:30the Tyler Perry show,
43:31All the Queens,
43:31man,
43:31he gets far more
43:33picture requests
43:34and autograph requests
43:34than I do.
43:35And I love it.
43:36I mean,
43:36I just feel really,
43:37really good about it.
43:38You know,
43:39that he's getting
43:39that kind of acknowledgement
43:40as an actor.
43:41So,
43:42same thing in basketball.
43:43You just want
43:44these youngsters,
43:45Gary Trent,
43:45Gary Trent Jr.
43:46to exceed whatever
43:47you were able
43:48to accomplish.
43:49He goes by
43:50Jay Marcus
43:51as his professional name.
43:53Yep.
43:54And obviously,
43:54naming him Marcus
43:55spelled,
43:55obviously,
43:56with your spelling
43:57was intentional.
43:58Yeah,
43:58Joshua,
43:59Joshua,
43:59Joshua Marcus,
44:00now he's Josh to us,
44:01but he wanted to,
44:02you know,
44:03give his dad some props
44:05and use that
44:05as a professional name
44:06and what can I say,
44:07you know,
44:08nice job
44:08for him.
44:09Cut off the trouble.
44:16Gary Trent Jr.
44:17and somebody
44:18on the Clipper Bridge,
44:19I don't know
44:19if it's an assistant
44:20if it's with Lopez,
44:21if it's Tyron Lou.
44:22Oh,
44:23man.
44:24He's got a running dialogue.
44:27Gary's always got
44:28a running dialogue,
44:28I feel like.
44:29It kind of pumps him up
44:31for those players,
44:32but,
44:32oh,
44:33he drew that
44:33offensive foul,
44:35too.
44:36Look at him.
44:37He's fired up.
44:38Matherick can only
44:39just smile about it.
44:40Watch Matherick's
44:41offhand right here,
44:42kind of the left hand
44:43got to clear out
44:43right there,
44:44just kind of clamp,
44:45goes for that clamp.
44:45We're seeing more guys
44:46try and do that,
44:47to try and bait the official
44:49in the calling
44:50the foul on the defense.
44:51I love that kind
44:52of energy.
44:52Final few seconds
44:54here at the half,
44:55GT2 pulls out for three.
44:57It's been his kind of half.
44:59Five three-point makes
45:01in the first half
45:02alone for Gary Trent Jr.
45:04Exclamation point
45:05on it,
45:06young fella.
45:06I see you.
45:08All right,
45:09coming up at the half,
45:10powered by UW Credit Union,
45:12the fast start
45:13and the longevity
45:15that Gary Trent Jr.
45:16has lasted here
45:17in the first half,
45:18all 18 points.
45:20Of course,
45:20he's leading the Bucs
45:21and scoring
45:22and that assistant coach
45:23interview coming up
45:24with Melanie Ricks.
45:25All right,
45:25so a matinee special.
45:27The Bucs trail by 11
45:29here at the half.
45:30They've been trying
45:30to keep it close
45:31and undermanned Bucs team.
45:37Our halftime coaches interview
45:38is brought to you
45:39by Fratern
45:39and the Medical College
45:40of Wisconsin.
45:41I'm standing here
45:41with Bucs assistant coach
45:42Jason Love.
45:43So coach,
45:44Gary Trent having himself
45:45an 18-point first half.
45:46How do you continue
45:47to keep feeding him
45:48and getting him going
45:48in the second?
45:49Yeah,
45:49just got to keep
45:50finding him,
45:50keep running in transition.
45:51I think a big part
45:52of that is getting stops.
45:53So we're able
45:54to get stops,
45:55getting out in transition
45:55and really like
45:56kind of dial up the threes.
45:58So I thought we've been
45:58doing a really good job
45:59at that.
45:59And then on the defensive end,
46:00how do you put the clamps
46:01on Kawhi and stop him?
46:03Yeah,
46:03I mean,
46:03he's such a tough matchup,
46:04but I think it's a team effort,
46:06trying to get the ball
46:06with his hands in the post
46:08and then just kind of
46:09live with the twos,
46:10defend without fouling them,
46:11don't send to that
46:12free throw line
46:12and no and ones.
46:13And, you know,
46:14with Garland trying
46:14to get the ball's hand
46:15as well,
46:16just kind of keeping
46:16our defense active,
46:17making multiple efforts
46:18and, you know,
46:19I think it'll give us
46:20a chance.
46:20Thanks, Coach.
46:21No problem.
46:22All right,
46:23always appreciate the time.
46:24Our Toyota leading scorers,
46:25you mentioned Kawhi
46:25with the 15 points.
46:27We've talked about
46:27Gary Trent Jr.,
46:28the only guy in double figures
46:30here for the Bucs
46:30with his 18.
46:32Kawhi just five away
46:33from 51 straight.
46:3520-plus or more games
46:37for him for the season.
46:38Yeah, remarkable consistency
46:41by Mr. Fun Guy,
46:43whatever his nickname is.
46:44But, no,
46:45Kawhi Leonard is just,
46:47he's a robot.
46:48He's a cyborg.
46:49I mean,
46:49he's just so well-trained
46:51in terms of his offensive
46:52footwork,
46:53his shot selection.
46:55Really benefited
46:56from a good friend of mine
46:57and our birthday boy
46:59referee, Leon Woods.
47:00We had him the other night.
47:01We were in Portland,
47:02I believe.
47:03And so,
47:04Chip England was,
47:05and Leon was really tight
47:06back in the day
47:07when they'd hang out
47:08at the men's gym
47:09watching us play.
47:09But Chip England,
47:10the shooting coach,
47:11really helped Kawhi Leonard
47:11kind of get that jump shot
47:14down to a point now
47:15where it's almost automatic.
47:16All right,
47:17a technical foul
47:18was called on
47:19Brooke Lopez
47:19right before the teams
47:20entered the locker room
47:21here at halftime,
47:22which is the reason
47:23why Gary Trent Jr.
47:24was shooting that free throw,
47:25but he misses it.
47:26Here's another look
47:27at what happened.
