00:03Hello, welcome, adab, sastrekaal, khemcho, namaskara, hello parents, welcome back to
00:11Drpedia podcast channel where we discuss parenting tips and child health. I am your doctor, Drpedia
00:20doctor, Dr. Prashant Gowda, neonatologist and pediatrician from Bangalore. Today we are answering
00:27an important question, how can I support my baby's development? This is the question which
00:33we get in our practice. In those early years when babies are growing at an astonishing rate
00:40and in a miraculous way learning things which beyond our expectation, our involvement plays
00:47a crucial role. Engaging with your baby, talk, sing and make eye contact to stimulate their
00:55language development. Even simple interactions like narrating what happened from morning till
01:01evening help them make connection between the words and the action. I always advise my parents
01:08who come to see me with their child that please narrate what happened from morning till evening
01:13only the good things not things which are not good. So that will help in language development,
01:19cognitive development, clarity of speech and understanding of the sentence and making sense
01:26out of it. There are few things like tummy time is an essential time for building strength
01:32in their neck and shoulder, preparing them for crawling. See basically these are all natural
01:38process and natural reflex. If we give little bit of support and if we are there during that time
01:45when they are learning and encouraging them to achieve certain milestones by putting them
01:50and helping them crawl or making them you know giving them support at right phase of life will have a
01:57huge
01:58impact. Reading together is another great way to encourage language skill even when they can't
02:05understand the words. Choosing colorful books and use a lively voice to keep them engaged. Lastly,
02:13respond to your baby's cues. When they smile, I don't think anybody on this earth will restrict
02:20themselves from not smiling when small baby throws a smile. So smile back. When they cry,
02:27it's not just the mother the entire family members should be on them to comfort them. This builds trust and
02:33emotional connection. It gives emotional security for the child by providing love, attention,
02:41consistent engagement. You're giving your baby the best start for their healthy development.
02:48Thank you for tuning in to Drpedia podcast channel. Stay tuned for more tips and happy parenting and keep smiling.
