Frequent lightning and large hail as storms strike Indiana and surrounding states

A severe thunderstorm swept through part of Indiana on March 26 with intense hail and lightning, leaving people on alert for potential tornadoes.

00:07You can see very frequent lightning with this storm, very large hail, winds at 70 and 80

00:12miles an hour, big milky hail core here with an elevated mesocyclone base that is coupled

00:18with that surging cold front.

00:20This is moving through Muncie, Indiana with some damaging winds and very large hail, destructive

00:25hail potentially with these supercell structures, even if they are elevated just a little bit

00:30behind the cold front, but we have seen insane lightning with these storms as well, hail larger

00:36than the size of golf balls earlier with a severe storm, and this storm right here had a tornado

00:42warning to the west of Muncie, Indiana, now it has a tornado possible tag with a severe thunderstorm

00:47warning, but you can see very frequent lightning here as we have an enhanced risk by the Storm

00:52Prediction Center with a tornado watch out in Ohio and a severe thunderstorm watch further

00:57west across parts of Indiana here.

01:00There's another storm on the north side of Indianapolis that looks like it's capable of dropping some

01:05large hail as well.

01:06These storms are going to continue pushing off to the southeast.

01:09They will likely expand a little bit in coverage over the next hour or two and then turn into

01:14a complex of storms or a mesoscale convective system as they blob out over the state of Ohio.

01:19You can see very intense severe storms in progress here, even an isolated tornado threat as we're

01:26going through the evening hours and after sunset, but certainly some very impactful severe weather

01:31across Indiana, portions of Illinois as well, and especially out in Ohio, even into western

01:37Pennsylvania has had a tornado warning.
