00:00But it's interesting, you know, looking at your ball striking, I've always considered
00:04you to be a very, very good ball striker.
00:06And at Bay Hill, you know, the first couple of days, the driver was definitely in some
00:11places that were a spot of bother.
00:12But the putter, the iron game, you know, kept you in the golf tournament.
00:16And I want to ask you about just your overall ball striking and, you know, where you feel
00:20like you are at this point in the season with where your swing is at, what feels good, what
00:25is something that you want to continue to prove on?
00:27Yeah, my coach and I, he's kind of created the DNA for me to, like, understand what it
00:36takes to, you know, fight a golf ball with certain wins, what it takes for setup, you know, how
00:42many degrees the face needs to be open or closed at start.
00:44So that's where I feel like I've gotten my DNA is just through a lot of practice with
00:48him, different conditions, different lies, never really trying to hit.
00:53The hardest shot I have struggled with is, like, just a straight high ball, which I've
00:59needed occasionally, you know, like, on Bay Hill a little bit, Pinehurst number two at
01:04the U.S. Open.
01:05So we practice some variations of that.
01:08But ball striking has always been a strength.
01:10I think I'm not afraid to hit shots.
01:13I'm not afraid to short side myself.
01:16Um, and so that's where I feel like my DNA has made me become a very consistent ball striker.
01:24And we've changed some stuff in my golf swing.
01:26My pattern's always the same where I get, like, a little across the line, trail arm doesn't
01:31really necessarily fold in the backswing.
01:33And so that's where I feel like I, when I see my golf swing like that, it's just awful.
01:38Um, and so we're consistently trying to work on that.
01:42Now I got my hand path a little deeper to start the year, uh, which then I go ball position
01:48more back, aim more right, club face, you know, clubs, club head, uh, more in and more
01:55laid off or trying to feel laid off, uh, which neutralize the path a little bit, but then
02:00obviously it gets to a point where it can get too deep.
02:02So we're just trying to monitor that.
02:04Um, but yeah, it's hard, you know, some, I always try and pry stuff out of my coach,
02:08especially during tournament weeks.
02:10I'm like, how does that look?
02:11What, you know, what are we thinking?
02:12Any feel?
02:12And, you know, we just do some maintenance stuff, but other than that, it's just like
02:17talking with Joe and him, you know, during practice rounds and just trying to figure
02:20out, you know, how to execute each golf shot to the best of our ability.
02:24Yeah.
02:25I love that you, you're not afraid to shape the ball both ways.
02:27I've seen you do it with short irons, with mid irons, long irons, uh, working it both
02:31ways.
02:31But of course that cut always seems to be your favorite shot off the tee.
02:35You know, it seems that the cut is seems to be a go-to for you.
02:39Do you feel like you have different gears to shots or shot shapes you work on with the
02:43driver?
02:44Uh, or have you just tried to kind of simplify it into like one or two?
02:48Yeah, definitely.
02:49I'm all over the place when it comes to shot options.
02:53Um, with driver again, try to create a little more of a DNA this year, because I feel like as
03:00a cutter, I tend to swing so far right.
03:03And, um, sometimes I'll just say like straight pulls, which is like really annoying as a cutter.
03:09That was, that looks like that was happening on Thursday at Bay Hill based on like what
03:12I was looking at.
03:13Is that, is that fair?
03:14Yeah.
03:15I think it was definitely some scar tissue though, from the year before, like where I,
03:18where I did hit it.
03:19You can't miss it left out there.
03:21So I get that.
03:22Um, so definitely like started to kind of like helicopter finish some balls, T-balls.
03:29Try to save it.
03:29Yeah.
03:29Yeah.
03:30Just to try and like send the message with the swing of like, this is starting right.
03:33And it's definitely going to cut, but now we have some nice options where it's like,
03:37I have a low one where it's definitely going to cut.
03:39I have like a, kind of like a spinny one if I need to hit it to 80.
03:43And then we've kind of developed a draw to like straight ball with a driver, which is
03:50like, we call it the forearm send.
03:51So I don't, yeah, what do you have to feel?
03:53It's a lot.
03:54Cause I rotate so hard.
03:56So a little stronger grip, little tilted ball back, aim square to left.
04:01Uh, again, like you do it on your setup, which is, I like that.
04:05Yeah.
04:05Right.
04:05You know, take it way inside.
04:07And then I have to feel like my, my hands speed up before my hips because I've pretty much
04:11outrace it almost every time.
04:13So I'll hit it like left.
04:14Your hips are, you got quick hips, which is a good thing.
04:17That's a good problem to have.
04:19Uh, but to hit a draw, sometimes you can get out in front of it.
04:21I can understand.
04:22Yeah, for sure.
04:22So definitely just a couple options, uh, when I need it, certain holes, a lot of trees that
04:28overhang, um, you know, if it's in my eyesight, then I can kind of hit that draw, but there's
04:34just definitely a lot of options.
04:35I think players is a great, um, kind of a great place to explain it because like 15, 15 for
04:41me is like very, very narrow and it goes to the right.
04:44It's not just you brother.
04:45Not just you.
04:47So I ended up hitting it over the trees on the right and just slicing it because it's
04:52like, it gets, it's just like gets over everything.
04:55Don't have to worry about it.
04:56And if I hit in that bunker, it's fine.
04:58So yeah, just a couple of options.
04:59Then 18, I hit like a perfect low cut that curve, you know, curves 150 feet, which is amazing.
05:04Now, we'll end that изб our bl vaya fait, just to make sure we're all split and we're
05:04Bye!
