00:09The visit by Spain's top diplomat to Algeria comes as the Iran conflict upends energy markets,
00:15hitting supplies and increasing price volatility, leaving some countries to look for their gas elsewhere.
00:26Algeria is also a stable, reliable and consistent gas supplier.
00:32For the past three years, it's been the leading supplier of natural gas to our country.
00:39I wanted to make that clear today to President Tibun during our meeting.
00:44Today, we agreed to strengthen this strategic partnership in the field of energy.
00:53Spanish gas grid operator Energas says Algerian gas made up more than 29% of the country's total imports
01:00in the first two months of the year.
01:02Spain is linked to Algeria by a gas pipeline called Medgas, which is operating at full capacity,
01:07but which experts say could be increased further.
01:10In the face of disruptions caused by the conflict in the Middle East,
01:13other countries are also asking Algeria for more gas.
