00:00Italy's Prime Minister arrived in Algiers on Wednesday with clear goals.
00:05More gas supplies for her country and tighter relations with Algeria.
00:11Georgia Meloni's working visit to Algeria comes as Italy's gas supplies from Qatar have been blocked by the war in
00:18the Middle East.
00:19The country is now turning to its most important supplier, Algeria.
00:23The North African nation already covers 30% of Italy's liquid natural gas, or LNG, needs.
00:31Meloni is seeking to increase that number to close the gap left by the lack in gas from Qatar.
00:37In return, Italy could be offering to increase its investments in Algeria.
00:42Italian investments already stood at 8.5 billion euros last year.
00:47But the visit is not purely motivated by trade.
00:51Meloni and Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboun are also set to discuss tightening geopolitical relations between the two countries
00:59and talk about challenges such as migration and the security situation in the Sahel.
