01:02These major and dramatic fires were caused by the sharp rise in temperatures,
01:07the heatwave and the violent wind that affected several regions,
01:11such as the Wilayah of Bajaya in Beni Maouz and surrounding villages.
01:17In a statement on Wednesday morning, the Algerian civil defence said its units
01:22had responded to nearly 140 fires across the country over the previous 24 hours.
